Perkins wrote it as an argument against Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights [edited to fix my error], Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, and similar stories. The Yellow Wallpaper is about the infantilization, mistreatment, and confinement of women by men and society. It's a deconstruction of the Madwoman in the Attic archetype. It's a horror story and does not have a happy ending. Perkins changed literature and influenced the feminist movement.

@@tarotcardsmith The Mary Shelley card makes me want to ask if you watched the Doctor Who episode The Haunting of Villa Diodati? It featured Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley, and Lord Byron. The best quote, "Nobody snog Byron."

Flip a coin and drop it. Pretend to pick it up but push it under your shoe. Reveal and it is gone!
