Tarja has chosen this moment in her life to release her first-ever “Best Of: Living The Dream”. Looking back on 15 extremely successful years of the Finnish singer’s solo career, the Best Of contains not only Tarja’s most well-known tracks, many of them newly remastered at “Sterling Sound”, and personal favorites from all six studio albums - ‘My Winter Storm’, ‘What Lies Beneath’, ‘Colours in the Dark’, ‘The Brightest Void’, ‘The Shadow Self’ and ‘In the Raw’ - but also the never-before-heard song “Eye Of The Storm”.
“After all these years, I still really can't believe it's time for me to release a proper Best Of album,” Tarja says. “So many beautiful moments, unbelievable. It has been a dream to put together this collection. And I really hope that you will enjoy this as much as I did while making it.”
The compilation hand-picked by Tarja herself, will be released on December 2nd, 2022 on earMUSIC in a wide variety of formats. Each featuring exclusive rarities and/or the previously unreleased 2 hour “Circus Life” concert, eagerly awaited by fans, as well as upgraded versions of Tarja’s music videos. Rounded out by high-quality artwork, deluxe liner notes and many formats to choose from, this collection is a delight for casual fans as well as superfans.

Her voice got me into metal. I regretted her departure from Nightwish for a long time. But now I see that her unrealistic return to NW would be like trying to lock a swan in a matchbox. Until recently, I only vaguely followed NW and Tarja. But when I returned to them, I found that the new NW direction was very strange and inaccessible to me, but Tarja... She surprised me terribly. What has she done to me? I can't stop listening to her latest album In the Raw. I need to listen to so many audiobooks and I can't get off that album 😀 Now I have almost all her CDs and Blue Rays. She is so creative. I love her music, personality, energy and performance. She is great inspiration. Every time she falls, she gets back up and creates something beautiful. Eye Of The Storm once again jumped out of all genre categories. I love it.

I’m with you there. The current Nightwish is unrecognisable to me and their new music doesn’t grab me anymore. I still listen to their old albums from when Tarja was with the band but that’s it. Meanwhile the more I dig into Tarja’s solo work, the more I find amazing music to listen to. In the Raw is my current favourite but there are lots of great songs on her previous albums too. And Eye if the Storm is going straight into my playlist.

Couldn't agree with you more, I was mad at Nightwish for the longest time. Anette was a terrible fail, and yes I know NW's best selling albums were with her... they became more mainstream I guess with her since her voice was nothing special at all. No one compares to Tarja, (I was in her concert just last night) what a wonderful time to be alive on. Keep rocking Tarja!

Безусловно! С нею НИКТО не может сравниться в общем жанре "симфо-метал-вокал-неоклассик". Даже современные "Найты" с Флор... Реально, "штучный экземпляр" в океане музыки!
I wanted to wait until I experienced the box set edition before commenting on this video. The best way I can sum up how I feel about this song would be validation. Tarja was my first music love and still is to this day. From when I was thirteen and saw her in End of an Era, she has basically been the soundtrack to my life (and I'm turning twenty eight next month) and through everything life has thrown at me to even having been bullied for listening to her (mostly because of me never caring for what's popular music wise on the radio), seeing her release this album and song gives me the feeling I made the right choice in picking her not only as my favorite, but also role model. Her music saved me and will continue to save me. Yes Tarja: you are the eye of the storm and always will be. Here's to the true Queen of hard rock and heavy metal and another fifteen years of memories.

Haven't been listening to her music for long time and suddenly found this song. Listening and smiling:) For me she isn't the best singer in the world bla bla bla. For me she's just the only persone who can put a smile on my face this way, and that is the reason why I love her, despite I hear her technical vocal mistakes. She is kind, nice, smart, beatifull, funny and carries some strange unique energy, everything else really doesn't matter. And especially in this song I sooo like her sense of humor playing with new colours. Also I again want to thank her for opening the world of classical vocal for me

Same here, haven't heard much of anything after what lies beneath, but went to see her in concert a few days ago and it got me back into her again. I agree that she isn't the best singer I've heard, but the music emphasizes all of the freedom she's genuinely excited to have, along with the passion, the enthusiasm, the energy and also the mistakes as every album allows her to express to the fans of the journey she's taken over the years as a solo artist. As much as he was a backstabbing, two faced, devious little coward in his actions, I think Toumas granted her the best oppertunity, as without the experience from such a humiliating fallout, and how she dealt with that betrayal, we might have gotten completely different music and not some of the great songs she's currently done up to now.

@@mightymouse8134 yes, the same thoughts! The only difference in my case is that I visited few concerts between 2012 and 2016 and I'd been listening to her until "Shadow Self". I didn't like "In the Raw" at all when it released but appreciated this album now, and this music helped me a lot during some emocional difficulties in my life

I have been listening to this song multiple times every day, and especially that ending vocal part is one of the best ever. I have full body goosepumps everytime. I just think that this song should end at 4:40. There is no need for that instrumental ending, and that would leave the listener in full awe.

It has been almost twenty years since I came across Tarja's vocals.. what a journey. Really looking forward to more music. Another rock album in the vein of ITR (your best to date imo) and the long awaited lied album is rather overdue. Your vocals are now completely mature at past forty. The peak for any classical singer. It would be marvellous to see your Spinto voice in all its splendour again.

Did you participate in the listening of My Winter Storm on Spotify last week? We chatted with Tarja live then. I asked her if she will release a purely classical album within the next 2 years because she can reach out to new classical music fans. She wrote that she will release a classical album but not necessarily within the next two years. I wish she would prioritize a classical album over her rock album.

BUT I'm glad Tarja plans to release another Classical album, because her voice is in a very very good moment by now, and I absolutely Love "Eye of the Storm", I think its one of her Best rock singles ever! I hope she will play it a lot Live! As for this video, well I can only subscribe what Ligeia Noire wrote above... It has been such an incredible journey, I also discovered Tarja firstly with "Nemo" as I was watching VH1 in 2004... So I hope Tarja continues the Path of "In the Raw" and "What Lies Beneath" ... @@soundslikeblue You are welcome! Tarja is at her best vocal wise now so I hope she records the classical lied album soon! I got afraid after I learned Tarja had a stroke in the autumn of 2018. Now I am grateful God and Marcelo have saved her, she is living a second life and we can still hear new music and songs from her. She is my biggest inspiration! Tarja spoke about the stroke here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHmEyZOsgLTUnbg.html I discovered Tarja in 2004 when watching Nemo on Top of the Pops on RTL II. But I only became a fan in August 2005.

@@devoratodorova no... I always miss these things because I am living overseas now but I so appreciate that you've asked. I have been waiting for a lied/chamber/classical album for so goddamn long. I wish she would do that next. She doesn't have the vocal limitations she had in Nightwish and she has now settled on almost 4 octave range and back into using both vocal placements... all is right for it, just need Tarja to do it!

You mean head and chest voice? Do you really think Tarja has 4 octaves now? I can hear her going as low as a mezzo and up as a soprano.

This video feels like such a memory lane! I've been a fan of Tarja since childhood (I was three when I discovered her NW work, and four when My Winter Storm was released), and watching all those old photos and videos made me relive these past fifteen years for five minutes. So glad she's come this far, she has proven time and time again that she can shine on her own. And of course, what an exquisite song this is! I definitely would've loved it to be on Colours In The Dark!
