@Big Bill O'Reilly ... one of my happiest days..indeed..i was in line to get an autograph and she was running a bit late, and got a tap on the shoulder ..at first i thought i brushed against someone and so i partially turned around and almost with Tarja..she let out one of her infectious patented laughs and said..."this may count as a hug" and i couldn't believe my audacity , at first,and heard myself saying " not in my book" and she gave me one for a few seconds..that still sustains me...that Marcelo gets to hug her all the time..but he looks a bit stiff in that department..maybe its just the way it appears to me..

@Big Bill O'Reilly .. yah, these trolls are just so egregious in their dismissal of the great one...i, along with a few other devotees formed a united front and went after them yesterday....this young women reacted to GLS with Tarja from the hartwel arena...she was very impressed by her and nw in general, and they jumped all over her complaining that it was the wrong version and that Tarja is nothing compared to Floor and such..so we went back and forth with these trolls..this corona detention is proving to be so cathartic...

This is so beautiful and happy/sad. I know a woman who was being abused by her husband. She wasn't saved. She took her own life when I was still a kid. It was something that hit me hard and I only wish that something had been to prevent the tragedy.

You know what? That is a fucking well done, very well done video right there. The part where she holds his arm, that look, that situation sends shivers down my spine, fucking powerful moment, the way they film, going in and out of the set is super super smart, it tells you that there is more than what meets the eye and stuff that happens between closed doors that shouldn't have been happening, we should stand up for ourselves or help if we can, it makes a world of difference to have someone by your side. She is a very intelligent woman and she empowers and strengthens a lot of people with her music and with her personality. I am so so so proud of being her fan. She is an amazing person!

6 years in, and this song still gives me chills... The fact I can review the life i had 11 years ago (when i had just 15) just gives it an outstanding emotional value that i won't ever be able to thank Tarja! This still is and will forever be, one of my favourite songs of her.

Oh my gosh...this videoclip looks like it was filmed during my childhood... F*****k triggers. Especially the scene with father and daughter in front of the TV. Para los que viven enfrascados, creo que Tarja es músico de profesión. Ser músico significa evolucionar, escuchar y aprender e incluso innovar. Y "evolución" es una palabra que define perfectamente a esta mujer. Mientras muchos hacen lo mismo de siempre por estar en su zona de confort, ella en cada producción se arriesga con una nueva temática, y crece. Ninguno de sus discos es el mismo y es interesante, no como muchas bandas que cambian el nombre del CD y la instrumentación, ambientación y voz es una sinfonía continua de nunca acabar. Bravo por este tema, y por un vídeo tan cercano a la realidad.

Mucha gente básica que se la dan de Metaleros criticando la musica solo por el hecho de que ellos se encasillan en sonidos pesados y de ahi no salen solo por posar. Tarja es una Artista versátil y su voz da para mucho. Su música va de un extremo a otro y eso es fascinante, sus ultimas canciones fueron muy experimentales y eso es muy positivo, creo que sus seguidores deberían hacer lo mismo y aprender a escuchar. El video es perfecto, y al ser una cantante de "estilo dramático" es bueno que sus videos representen bien lo que ella nos expresa al cantar.

:) I worship only God above but I agree a bit, Angel, she has really divine voice etc, and she is my inspiration ( this month I was singing 2 songs from her (I walk alone and Sing for me) for the teacher of music conservatory in Prague and she said it was beautiful and they want me in their school.. so I'm grateful to God and also to Tarja :) This video has really strong message, it's really touching, isn't it? I hope it will touch many people who suffer from home violence (and also the abusers)

Con esto comprendo claramente el concepto de The Brightest Void y The Shadow Self. Innocence y No Bitter End son trabajos muy diferentes y quizás no serían fácil de relacionar a primera vista, pero una vez hecho es una dualidad espléndida. El concepto de cada álbum de Tarja está basado en su forma de plasmar las ideas y enfoques que quiere exponer. No comprendo como hay personas que tras ver su trabajo siguen sin adorarlo, o quizás, sin entenderlo. Tarja es sublime.

Comparto tu opinión.. A mi me gusta mucho lo que hizo en TBV y estoy segura que TSS va a ser una obra magnifica. Para mí, hasta ahora lo mejor que ha hecho, aunque sigo amando todos sus trabajos. Creo que esta creciendo mucho sobretodo en la composición de canciones. Como decís, Tarja es sublime!

Lo que pasa, lamentablemente, es que la mayoría de la gente solo oye la música, sin escucharla realmente, y no se dan el trabajo de apreciar el trabajo de un artista, de entender el por qué realizo tal o tal canción, o por qué escribió esa letra o por qué incluyo tal o tal instrumento. La música no solo se escucha, hay que comprenderla, analizarla :)

This is a great song. The video is so powerful, too. I love the bit at the end in which Tarja grabs the man's hand.

Tarja has the most beautiful music videos: I walk alone, I feel immortal, Victim of Ritual.. and this one which may be her best video so far! I am really happy for her and to be a fan of hers. She knows no limit and that makes me really proud.

I love the story, how Tarja crow up, its fantastic, at least in Finland.

I saw her yesterday at Chihuahua with an awesome show, I like most of all melodic/Gothic/symphonic bands such as Within temptation, Nightwish, Delian, Epica but Tarja's voice is so powerful she is another level than the rest, and I really like the others but she is out of this world!

Yes, Simone and Sharon and Floor do have "warmth" in their voices which fans love. But no ladies in still singing in symphonic metal bands infuse the songs they sing with the passion, verve and gravitas that Tarja has.

I like the way the color leaves the abuser and goes to Tarja. It's as if the life force of his abuse has been taken away. The feathers over her eyes seem to me to represent her inability to see the pattern of abuse. At the end, her eye is exposed; she can see the truth.

Yes. That's exactly what I think the feathered veil represents. Or at least anyway it represent enlightenment. It could represent society's awareness of issues that are all around us all the time but we are blinded to. It could also represent the lady who's in the abusive relationship being blinded to the fact that she doesn't have to settle for that life for herself and her child and has the ability to bring it to an end. In fact, it's at the end when she takes the child and leaves behind the abusive relationship, that we see the veil lifted and her eye uncovered. So, I think it means both.

​@@anitazniniewicz "only have voice" as if everyone has THAT voice lol. Talent to create is subjective, if you don't like her work you think that she doesn't have it and one who likes it thinks she has.. Or maybe you can name some objective criterias of talent?

@@carin4139 Yes carina, I agree with you...i like Tarja with Nightwish, as solista for me is not enough.Nightwish is e group of fantastic and true artists which is in the state to create wonderful music with different fermale voice s....This is not only ART!!!! but great Intelligence.....

@@anitazniniewicz Sadly, after Tarja, Nightwish music with Annete is recycled and improved versions of songs from Tarja era and with Floor it became a power pop band and folk rock band.

Bravo to the director for such amazing little movie

there's nothing underrated about her check out other solo projects like dark sarah, the gentle storm, etc. It took them 2 or 3 years to reach +100k and tarja's got 220k in about 3 weeks that's pretty good :D

tarja is not underrated, her solo is. google nightwish, that was her previous band! A lot of old fans wants her back.

The video had a "premiere" and was released one day before the schedule, but just for a few countries. Then someone downloaded it and uploaded somewhere else. With the leaking, LOTS of people saw the video out of youtube, then it resulted in the low amount of views. It should've already passed No Bitter End's views.

Tarja is only "underrated" in the US where everyone only likes rap or pop with narcissistic "me" centered lyrics, and no talent..... Everywhere else around planet Earth, she is timeless. Even the penguins in Antarctica rock out to her! 😆

Reviewers perspective: I really like power harmonies - 80s bands like Queensryche, Dokken and Iron Maiden had one thing in common to me - great lyrics, monster riffs and harmonies. Nightwish for me brought a whole dimension to the art I liked the most - the symphonic element thanks to the genius of Tuomas and the power/elegance of Tarja. The Shadow Self for me represents her best solo album to date, top to bottom all of the songs are solid and sonically pleasing. She is getting more comfortable in her role as the leader of her band and the songwriting continues to mature and evolve. She is a classically trained lyric soprano who digs metal .. not many of those in the world mate and she continues to grow as an artist. Rather than methodically and subjectively analyze each track, let me say this about the album as a whole - it makes more sense than Colors In The Dark. She seems more focused and unafraid to do what she does best - hit notes and runs that very few can, coupled with a tight band and musical vision that matches her gifts perfectly. I think Colors In The Dark was a necessary step in her development as an artists .. she took chances, she went way out there and although it didn't work on many levels, it was steps that she needed to take. I would rather see someone fall flat on their face by taking a risk than someone doing the same thing version 4.27. What make The Shadow Self so enjoyable for me is she has a crystal clear vision of what she wants to do and she nails it with the power, grace, style and harmonies that have made her a legend. Highlights for me - Undertaker!!! (sick twisted song), Demons In You, Innocence and Love To Hate. My favorite is Too Many - she goes way out there, fuses a bunch of different elements and does it in a way she's never done before and likely may never again. Just my $0.02 worth, thanks for reading.
