Jessica is entirely too glib about the violence that often comes with property damage, as well as how easy it is for stores to deal with theft due to being covered by insurance. You think insurance companies don't raise their rates when claims are filed? Or even drop coverage entirely? So the stores don't need to make money because .... insurance ... and now the insurance companies don't need to make money because ... what? Think better, Jessica. On these matters, it is very easy, and she isn't dumb, so she's just being glib at best and even disingenuous. Not a good look.

  • @squatch545

@@squatch545 The problem is not necessarily of immediate damages, but that the insurance company gets alerted to reconsider your long-term risk. This can render a company uninsurable, either because the company can no longer afford the insurance or because the insurer can no longer afford to insure. Or merely finds it unprofitable to do so. Companies, like individuals, can be and indeed have had their rates raised significantly or even been dropped as customers. Insurance companies are not in the business of paying out claims at a loss, and regularly petition the government, where necessary, to drop unprofitable clients. And often it's just not necessary.

I think we should be more selective and consider cost before we roll out to all stores. what are your thoughts my group of minions?" All minions in the room agree and say yes we should only ship to stores with a high sales volume due to increase cost. One minion says "I think we will get push back form the LGBTQIA community for not offering nation wide?" CEO: "That is a good point...Yes I expect pushback as well, HMM. any thoughts?" Minion 2 of 20 says "Last year some employees felt threatened and harrased and unsafe by customers that disagree with us selling this merchandise, I say never let a crisis go to waste, spin it that we care about our employees safety is why we are more selective this year." CEO says: "Dang minion 2 that is a great idea, why didn't I think of that." Minion 2 gets promoted and the cycle continues.

Oh, hello liar. I can personally verify that such a thing exists having also worked in retail at a management position. Shrinkage, as it is called is an accepted part of business and built into retail insurance. Just like it is in your homeowners and renters insurance.

@@spamfilter32 shrink is forecasted and included in an operating budget quarterly, but in no way are you reimbursed for it via insurance. Shrink is part of a cost to do business but stores close when they can’t get their shrink under control. How much P&L analysis have you had to do as a “manager” in your company?? Or are you at a department manager level?

Even if you don’t like the merch, it’s sad the reason has to be because of employee safety due to the bad behavior of “customers”’last year. The everyday employees shouldn’t have to deal with being threatened or harassed. They definitely don’t get paid enough for that. If nobody buys the products then they won’t be sold next season. And if people do buy the product that you don’t like, tough. It’s their money.
