Nice, this gives me an area to probe perhapds for research or a thesis as I’ve seemed to notice this as a common trend Where people are taking mental health medications for a long term period and they start suffering from i) tardive dyskinesia or ii) start suffering from symptoms of epilepsy or sometimes full blown seizures (as was my specific case) Where also when the medication is stopped the side effects i) or ii) seem to persist after the stopping of medication (sometimes forever sometimes for a short period) But despite this in almost every single case where cannabis was tried,, it was effective and either a) massively decreased the side effects, or b) all together reverse the side effects i) or ii) completely So with that said, I’m very curious about if there is a potential link between mental health medications,, and epilepsy or epileptic side effects (such as loss of motor function) because it seems the more data we collect and the longer those medications are used I start to suspect the mental health medications like antidepressants and antipsychotics are doing more long term harm than good for patients Maybe they should be trying cbd and thc for mental health first as those seem to have the least long term side effects

This potentially permanent movement disorder becomes more common/severe with age. Most doctors don't even warn of the potential for this life-ruining condition. This is why anti-psychotics should ONLY be prescribed for truly psychotic patients.

And if they have been on psychotic medicines before and try to taper off it, chances are their brain chemistry is still messed up and will take time, if still possible, to rebalance their brain chemistry. So in turn they are put on more antipsychotic medicine. An endless cycle. Look at all the mass shooters in the last 20 years, they have all been on psychotic medication that the media hides. And plenty of other people who murdered other people.

And even so if the patient is psychotic, should their lives be ruined by TD and respiratory dyskinesia. I know my son was never told and neither was I, and it was a psychiatrist. At one point my son could not even sit now he has trouble breathing. Now how bad was his psychosis ? Not bad enough to have his life ruined for mild psychosis. We should have been told and let my son decide if it was worth it.

I have lived with TD for many years, there's no escape. At first I was devastated then a deep deep depression came and just sat on me for years. I wore a mask long before covid, people used to laugh at me and make jokes. I once had a beautiful voice, I was a ladies man, budding actor among many other things. That all went away because of TD. I stopped eating out and being out in public for many years. Long story short, somewhere along the way I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started to take back my life and to this day, I stopped doubting myself and I seem to be so hard into the wind, I don't have time for a pity party, besides no one brings gifts. I own an art business, I've learned to play the sax, I spend hours every day practicing. At first it was hard but I was not gonna give up, the hardest part was holding the mouth piece , in doing this I've regained some control of my mouth muscles. life keeps showing up and every time it does, I dawn my suit of armor and KICK SOME ASS, the right way of course, with my god given mind because the mind is limitless, this is not BS I see it every day. It occoured to me I have the ability, like may of us, the ability to change or create whatever reality I think about most. Thank you for your post.

I got TD from taking risperidone for years... I've tried Ingrezza but it had so many side effects.. it caused me to go to the emergency room twice.. my face always hurts and l get headaches from the grinding of my teeth.. it hurts to eat😭😭.. these drug companies ought to be ashamed if themselves 😭😭😭

talk with your prescriber, you should be able to try it, It is not the same as ingrezza and has a slower titration.

I have the teeth grinding too! I got that and my other symptoms of TD from being forced to take (as a child from 1st grade to 16 or 17 years old) concerta/ritalin/vyvanse/adderal/ and a bunch of anti depressants I can't even remember now.

I remember my mom having to be medicated after an episode after falling into an depression with caused her moods to change dramatically. They diagnosed her with bipolar disorder and depression. I was young but one thing that I will always remember is how after her meds she kept her head to the side at an angle and also continued to poke her lips out as if she was kissing and then suck them back in as if she was biting the sides of her cheeks. The whole time I just thought that was a new habit she picked up but now I know this is what my mom suffers from. Til this day I’m able to tell when she’s on or off her meds. This makes me sad for her but I rather having a living mother who makes kiddy faces then mom who is no longer physically with me because without that meds she gets suicidal. Smh

What helps me manage my TD is consistently eating three meals a day that are HEALTHY, daily exercise (lifting weights, jump rope) proper sleep each day and stress management. If I can manage all of these well then, my TD symptoms are almost gone.

I have TD and it affects my tongue. I now have a speech impediment that gets embarrassing quite often, and makes chewing difficult. I take Ingrezza and it has helped a bit in that I can speak clearly more often and for longer periods. My symptoms were first misdiagnosed as ALS, which threw me and my family into a panic for almost a year. When EMG's kept coming up negative and the problem did not progress after I went off Asendin (which I had been on for almost 30 years) the diagnosis was changed to TD. Another risk factor they didn't mention was a history of alcoholism. I am a recovering alcoholic.

It affects my speech to. I click my tongue and make a really loud sound sometimes when it happens. I hate when people laugh or stare or even get upset like I'm being rude...

He moves exactly like I do. I thought I was a freak. Nobody warned me about this with all the meds they put me on that I didn't actually need. I kept getting worse and instead of looking at the meds as the problem they just put me on stronger ones to the point I started hallucinating. I originally seeked treatment for anxiety as a teenager and they loaded me up on all these meds, including Thorazine for a few months. I don't know why anyone thought it would be okay to get a teenager without schizophrenia Thorazine.

So far it's looking like it is. My eeg still shows slowing in a part of my brain. It's been 6 years since I've been off Thorazine and I still have extremely painful spasms and jerks.

I take Celexa and I'm experiencing symptoms related to this disorder. I'm going to my doctor to discuss the possibility. This video is very informative . Thank you for sharing.

Brilliant thank you. What a gorgeous personality. Anti-nausea Maxolon triggered mine last year at age 53. I used to have Tourette's in primary school. I kind of grew out of the TS at around age 13. Now 40 years later I feel like it's returned. I feel like I have bubbles under my tub lip and also have a bit of toe stretching and scrunching happening

Currently studying for a pharmacology exam and this was very helpful!

TD is heartbreaking. My eldest brother was on anti-depressant & anti-anxiety medications for years. He developed an "essential tremor" very young that worsened with age, In his last year he would develop extreme & almost violent involuntary extremity movements his arms & legs his final year. It was very distressing & embarrassing for him & went undiagnosed until he passed away earlier this year. I wonder now if it was TD.

That is truly heartbreaking. I’m so sorry. My family member just started Abilify so I am finding out about this horrible side effect.

My son is 23, on antipsychotics for 2.25 years and showing signs. His psychiatrist NEVER asks... I see signs of TD that my son doesn't recognize. I'm so afraid for him.

I think I have this in my hands from taking Reglan in the hospital

Just anecdotal evidence, but Vitamin e capsules have really helped me diminish my symptoms of this !

Are you still recovering today? Do you still feel these symptoms? Im currently taking respiridone and i felt some of this within my neck and i am about to take it long term and i am scared of feeling this forever.

Tricyclic antidepressants can cause this to so people being treated for something like a sleep disorder can wind up with this if they are put on anti-depressants. I find it pathetic just a little study there is done into drugs and the side effects and how little doctors are willing to talk about it or even know before prescribing something. Don't think something awful like this can't happen to you.

I think I might have this. I just have a feeling.

Bc then they won't prescribe as much. They know this, for sure. Big pharma has corrupted the western medical system, and a majority of docs is taking their grants.

I had this happen right away. Any nausa or mental meds cause this. It was so bad first time I was pulled stuck for eleven hours until I got benadryl. My tongue swill and my eyes locked and hands,and feet stuck and my face,was oukked. Everytime it gets worse.

Poor soul. Unfair

Can it get worse over time? Thankfully mine isnt as severe as these people here but it would be awful if it somehow became that way...

I took Paxil for 6 years and I started to have to have uncontrollable movements ! Could it be cause by the med ?

I know full well how much BS psychiatry is!

Background music is very loud and annoying.

Can you reverse supersensitivity by giving a dopamine agonist? It should be able to reverse it by downregulating the receptor and return the sensitivity to the baseline level? Although it would make the psychotic symptoms worse initally. Is that beeing tested in animal models?

I’m having issues and have been taking the Gastrointestinal medication. I also know that some prescription pain medication can cause this. And I know I move and do weird things. I used to take anti depressants for quite some time for depression but it made me worse than when not on it. I don’t know where to go or who to see and trust anymore. Doctors in my state are useless nowdays. Time to move.

Sometimes people get TD right away. Within weeks.

@@zitawillingham4391 This is a different drug induced side effect, often treated with cogentin or artane. TD has a different cause and specific treatment.

I unfortunately got after taking one pill. The doctor gave me the medication as a trial for extreme stomach issues. I was never warned about this side effect & at the time it wasn't on the papers that you get from the pharmacy.

How did you recover I had a similar situation after maybe a week of taking risperidone

Its not only anti-psychotics, I got mine from an SSRI, Zoloft. I have anxiety, all I wanted was Valium but they insisted I take Zoloft. It doesn’t help, but it I don’t take it, I get brain zaps. I am so angry, been suffering for 7 years with painful mouth movements.

What helped me to get off antidepresants was tapering slowly. Decreasigng the dose by less than 10% every 2 weeks. Also microdosing have done wonders for me

What you and most of the commenters are describing sound more like,"Dystonia " which is what I've been diagnosed with a month ago from taking the medication, "Geodon aka Ziprasidone "! I went to the E.R. and they gave me an I.V. with a shot of 50 mg of benadryl and it immediately made me go back to normal! Talk to your Dr About this and see what he says. God bless

I wonder what would happen if a forensic psychiatrist had tardiness dyskinesia / TD, despite taking no medications at all. If they developed TD, not Tourette’s, in early life, and if the social exclusion led them to medicine and psychiatry and finally forensics. Please look out for an update!

I've seen people get this way from using drugs... They call it getting stuck.......!

High I am currently titrating down off the antidepressant Pristiq/Desvenlafaxine on 50mg from 100mg. The withdrawals are scary and in a week i take one every other day for two weeks then i should be off. What is really amazing to me is my Psych put me on Gabapentin to help with the withdrawals from the antidepressants but now ill be addicted to gabapentin. I have been educating myself because the Physiatrists know not what they do. So Has anyone had to get off gabapentin? I have been taking it for a week and titrating off the antidepressants. Its helping for now but im very afraid the withdrawls from yet another added drug is not the best way to do this...Any suggestions on how to withdraw without seizures and uncontrolled yelling and hands not mine. I know the gabapentin is helping but is it another nightmare of withdrawls when im done? I'm afraid my brain is perma fucked because i have been a Physiatrists dream a live human guinea pig for the past 9 years will i ever be me again? zombie apocalypse is happening now, I am very mad at all physiatrists they are not properly trained and have no idea what problems they are causing to people. The nightmare of physiatry is real and very alive. Causing permanent damage and death to millions. If your thinking of seeing a physiatrist don't do it, You will regret it and most likely lose most of the friends jobs and joy of life is gone because zombies don't feel. Will taking gabapentin till i'm off the antidepressant be my next nightmare or can you stop easily if its only been a month? No one seems to know she told me gabapinton was easy to quit unlike the antidepressants But im not trusting her judgement any longer im afraid she is trying to keep me on medication because she says i'm bipolar I believe the book of psych is made up and none of this is real a farce to dupe the public and make money off the weak and depressed people by causing more harm just for profit ... Beware the jabberwocky my friends for they are many and hide behind a fake profession full of lies and destruction. All those kids who killed at schools were on antidepressants what dose this tell US all. Run away from big Pharma they only care about the money not you...

You can get off gabapentin but you just need to do a slow taper Search for a fb group about it. Theres a lot of support. I didn't know any better and CT off 300 mg, i had PAWS for a year. Good luck and stay positive!

there are many effects of psych meds that are not talked about two of the most deadly are serotonin syndrome and neuroleptic malignant syndrome. and also antidepressants can cause suicidal urges not thought or ideation but urges.

Thank God, I refused the majority of the medications being given to me. I struggled with major depression and was diagnosed with PTSD, following the death of my son in the Marines, 17 years ago. Long story short, I self medicated often, with alcohol and Xanax, which was given to me as a prescription, to help with anxiety. I ended up in a treatment facility after several years of taking this medicine and struggling to cope with the loss of my son. Well, while in treatment, I spent a great deal of time in prayer and I began reading the Bible. I used to write letters to Jesus, asking Him to help me and heal me of the pain and I would wake up in the middle of the night and pray. Well, after 90-days in treatment, my life and my perspective had dramatically changed. Even the counselors recognized it and one told me that I was the most extreme case of recovery that she had witnessed in her 20 years as a counselor. Jesus had changed my life and completely healed me of my depression, delivered me from the alcohol and the need to take antidepressants. I didn't immediately understand what had happened to me, but, as time passed, and I no longer took any medicines, the thoughts of suicide completely stopped, I no longer had a desire to drink and I felt a profound sense of peace, when thinking about my son... I knew I had been changed. Within several years, my former psychiatrist documented that my condition had remitted. He too was amazed at my recovery. Today, I haven't taken an antidepressant since June 10, 2007. I haven't had a drink of alcohol since December 13, 2006, I was delivered from smoking cigarettes, September 9, 2007, I was healed of breast cancer, and a near death accident, on July 29, 2007. I can go on and on about the goodness of Jesus in my life and my deliverance. I made a conscious decision to give my life to Jesus years ago and I've never looked back. Because of Him, I've been healed, of something that could have destroyed my life, had I trusted in doctors, instead of Him. I'm not telling anyone to throw away your medications and stop trusting what these doctors are telling you and instead of getting better, more symptoms are created and the vicious cycle continues. God knows far better than anyone else what it takes to heal us... after all, He created us. And who knows more about His own product, than the one who made it. I wish everyone well and especially, the handsome gentleman in the video. His entire life has been altered, by someone else's decision of what was best for him, when they don't even know what's best for themselves. Jesus, is still the ONLY Savior, a Healer, a Deliverer and He loves us unconditionally.

The problem is that these psychiatrists are prescribing anti-anti-psychotics for things like insomnia. wtf

I'm constantly worried about this (and weight gain). I take up to 600mg Questiapine and 600mg Chlorpromazine.

I took 400 MG for about 2 years, I was alright, but got super fat. I now have "episodes" of twitching and difficulty speaking but it was abilify that caused it.

You forgot one. It can also be annoying!

I am taking a low dose of Latuda, the lowest dose of 18,5 mg. I can't live without anti-psychotics because without them I can develope psychosis so it is extremely essential for me to take this drug. I hope I never develope TD. I know that I will have to take these anti-psychotics for years and years :-( I dont have a choice.

Oh yeah, different paths, same destination. From what I understand years of cocaine abuse would almost irreversibly damage dopamine receptors causing Parkinson's-like symptoms. Schizophrenia, adhd, Parkinson's, and TD are all related to having too much (in schizophrenia and psychosis) or too little dopamine available in the brain

They might need a remedy sir not news about them 😡
