Taramps Smart 3 vs 6000W Sub and INSANE Amp Dyno Low Impedance Testing [4K]

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

#Taramps #Smart3 #AmpDyno
As a follow-up to our recent tests and technical review of the Taramps Smart 3, we decided to put the amp through the ringer. Let's try ALL of the tests on the Amp Dyno from 8 ohms all the way down to 0.5. Yes, the 0.5 certified test is brutal and out of the 100's of amps I've tested, only a handful have been able to handle this load without going into protect or going up into smoke! This amp at the time of filming is still $265 shipped from Amazon, an incredible value!
In addition to the crazy low impedance resistive testing with the Amp Dyno, we also hook up the Massive Audio BOA121 12" dual 1 ohm subwoofer in parallel to try it at 0.5 ohms. Can the Taramps Smart 3 handle this load? What does it look like on the o'scope? Stay tuned to find out! Remember, this review/test was NOT paid for by Taramps or anyone else except my Patreon supporters and viewers like you who use my affiliate links when shopping on Amazon or eBay. Thank you for your support!

Great job buddy! Works as expected! Dynamics will probably be so high as a few cycles of sine wave sneak through at rail clip before the circuit limits the amplitude - in my segment I said how the amp would try and make around 6k at 1ohm without the limiter, seems I wasn't far off!

If you ask me that's damn impressive. I hope to see some more old school amps on the Dyno. Takes me down memory lane and informs me on what those old joker's were actually putting out. P.S. I'm a new subscriber just recently started watching your channel love the reviews on everything you do from speakers to amplifiers, which got me into a little predicament, and I need your expertise. I purchase for 8in fierce Toro subwoofers I want to try to run them at 4 ohm so I can get the best efficiency for the speakers. I decided on (3)amps but I don't know which one to grab they range from $300 all the way up to $1,000 the amps are as follows Rockford Fosgate T 1500 1bdcp, the other one is the kicker kxa 2400.1, and the last one is the tarampsmart 3. Out of all three the only one I noticed that will run at 4 Ohms will be the smart 3 tar amp I has the best efficiency out of 3amplifiers,but I'm afraid that I get what I paid for and I'm confused to wish one I should get my mind is telling me to go with the kicker kxa 2400 because its great efficiency throughout the range. If I'm unable to run the speakers at 4 Ohms then I was going to go down to 2 ohms the kicker is way much stronger due to the fact that is 2400 watts and my speakers only handle 400 watts RMS each but I could always tone down the amplifier which of the three amplifiers would you recommend again I'm running for 8in fierce Toro subwoofers. Any help would be greatly appreciated PS keep up the good work I'm loving your channel is helping me tremendously on deciding what to do with my Jeep.also a ported box 33hz a quadzilla ported box.I believe the power is underated on the fierce toros and they easily can handle 500rms.Helppp

1100 watts at 8 ohms is nothing to scuff at. That is way beyond the capability of any indoor made amplifier. Granted the input voltage in your home is much greater (110-115v US, or 230v EU) and require much beefier components to do so, but still. A $260 car amplifier can produce that much power is just bonkers..

Bert I actually did end up buying a Taramps Smart3 & that is what I've had in my car for right at a month now. I am running it on a single Skar ZVX 18" dual 2 ohm subwoofer wired to 1 ohm. I have not yet had any issues with clipping or the amp getting hot. I can play very bass heavy music for 45 mins & longer right at full tilt with the volume knob turned just one click below clipping without any issues. During long hard increments of playing bass heavy music the amp does not even break a sweat. Never went into protect on me. (I say all this while knocking on wood lol) My gain on my Smart3 is set right at around 40% set along with the rca voltage of my headunit. And trust me my amp has really been good to me this past month! I have a brand new nice Korean amp 3500 rms that I haven't even took out of the box yet as the Taramps has been doing great on my temporary single 18 setup. I am switching to an 8 cubic feet custom ported birch enclosure that will be housing two new 15" subs in approx. 2 to 3 weeks. Currently waiting on the wood to be cnc cut to my specs & then I will be using my new Korean amp to break in my two 15s. After broke in I will be putting an 8k on them @1ohm. Burt I hope you are able to get your Smart3 straightened out or dial the tune in better. I know that's gotta suck with it clipping so much! Lmk if their is anything else I can help you with.

To power them I'm using 2 Crown K2 amps in bridge mode, which are rated for 2500 watts into 4 ohms. The nice thing about the EAW's is the 96Db/1W/1M efficiency, and they play down into the 20's which is pretty good for PA subs. But it would be nice to not need a stack of subs that's 4 feet wide and 5 feet high. Any suggestions on what might give me similar output in a smaller package and could run well on my existing amps?

Clipping isn't an amplifier fault or quality issue. It still delivers over 2500W into that load without clipping, so the clipping is the fault of the operator who is allowing it to be overdriven, i.e., attempting to get much more than 2500W from it. All amplifiers clip at some point.
