Hi Everybody,
In this video, I'm going to show how to do a Granite Effect and we're gonna make it nice and cheerful, a nice Spring colour! Straight on with the Sculpting Form as I've prepped the nail already. It's going to be formed into a Ballerina shaped nail, a Tapered Square. See the way you can alter the form to fit different nails.
Now we have Soft Pastel Blue, Metalic Green, Bermuda Bay Acrylic Powders. Will be using some Glitter. This is mylar and it's chunky. Using these we will create the base colour, nice and thin layers, place and let it flow down the nail and blend. Be random or messy as it adds to the effect. Now with the clear, we will stick Mylar chunks to the design. Granite has shards of sparkle inside the stone so we're emulating it.
Now we're going to create some detail with some Polycolour Paints, I have Zinc White on some Backing Paper, then Brilliant Violet. Add a little water to the white to help it flow and draw some little veins around the shards of mylar, giving them a frame. Give the shards a softer edge, make it flow. You can see how we've framed those. With the Purple add 'shadow' in one area of the shard to add depth. Seal the paint with Urban Grafitti Top Coat.
