The basics of flat/shim style Taper Gauges.
For things like measuring slots and welding gaps, or determining shim width needed, flat style Taper Gauges are the perfect tool.
In this video I show how this tool can be used to confirm/calibrate the indicator on a woodworking jointer with the help of a straightedge (in this case, an aluminum torpedo level).

Haha that must have been a pain to film with how reflective it was. Thanks for making the video though :) Hopefully you can find more use for that in the future than I did!
How is using a Taper gage better than using a dial caliper to measure thickness or slot dimension, considering the larger the gap, the further you must introduce the taper gage into the gap, where this might be impractical?
