I've been practicing martial arts 32 years, 8 styles, along with 12 weapons systems. And Taoist tai chi for 20 years of that. Great form with a monthly membership which covers all classes five-seven days a week if you wish for the same price. Without the ego of competition.

Not a traditional form - modern. Basing his style on the Yang family's Tai Chi, Sifu Moy reformulated the form according to a modernist ethos placing calisthenic value as a central fundamental, as opposed to the traditional forms relaxation. I have found that a large number of the *traditional* Tai Chi community in Canada commenced their studies with this form...as did I. Members of the Taoist Society have little difficulty in adapting to traditional Yang style. Steve Higgins www.cold-mountain-internal-arts.com

Normally I would say, the less said, the better. But I will say that, having known the founder and being well acquainted with many former members, that the official propaganda does not conform to the facts as we see them.

I agree with the Ian's comment. I can appreciate other styles of tai chi but this is not true tai chi. They are not using proper tai chi principles. Sun style is a relatively new style of tai chi that uses proper tai chi principles but this style completely lacks basics and any internal power. Please look around and compare. Traditional Yang, Chen, Sun, Wu are worth your consideration.

What do you think of YMAA / Dr. Yang, Jwing Mings' Yang Taijiquan form?

As people have indicated, this is a simplified version of tai chi, more like a dance as it does not conform to some of the most basic of principles e.g. rooting, using the waist, and you can get injured. Also it is operates like a cult and many have left after being very badly treated while volunteers, I have seen this. All payments for class go centrally and are used to buy up property, so it is essentially capitalist tai chi, with a big publicity machine, a million miles from the real tai chi culture. Trust the West to screw this up, through ego, pride and just not understanding. There are many other very good practitioners. Don't touch this lot with a bargepole!

Yikes! I've been learning Taoist tai chi for a while now and wasn't aware that it wasn't mainstream tai chi or even really tai chi at all.

Do you see any orientals performing this kind of taichi exercise for health? This ones only popular among the Westerners... that are quite lazy to do some stretching like bending the knees, longer steps, standing on one legs motionless... :-) This group kept popping up n down, their legs never remain slightly bend throughout the exercise. The younger ones should have bend their knees lower, to strengthen the thigh muscles and calves that would lessen the stress on the knees...
