I would consider this. Philosophy is useless without practice. All philosophies are in some way incomplete bc our human reasoning can reach out only so far. We are still evolving as people. Thus a good philosophy is one that works for you in practice and in thought. The same thing, the same philosophy does not work for everyone. Not just one or the other. If all you do is think you are not a philosopher.

While "chill" gives you the idea to not care of anything around you and keep doing what you're doing or even not doing; "Taoism", I believe give you the insight to identify, know, understand, acknowledge, and accept everything around you because once in a while, you'll be affected or meet by time to each and everything around you... And when you'll "consider" and not control - is how you'll be able to immerse yourself in the present or any action you're doing at a particular point of time. While "chill" tells you to forget everything around you even though being dependent on it, "Taoism" tells you to understand and accept the nature of everything in the world. Edit: nature of actions and purpose differs in both, not the intended idea to give yourself some time. ❤️

The flow in this context,is not the western path of least resistance. the flow is the correct path, the path that is natural and fitting for your being. it requires vision and deep understanding and love for your own being. water flows downstream, because that is how it is best to flow, it spends great effort and millennia carving a deep path to form a river, but it also meanders taking a longer way to avoid hard rock. a human without understanding of his situation, thinking he goes with the flow, is like a river cutting a straight line through a mountain, thinking it's the easiest path to the ocean.

As a nurse who was never connected to my job, I always felt so frustrated with myself for quitting because I couldn't understand what was wrong with me, I mean people always do jobs that they don't like but makes them money. My health was genuinely at its worst and I had to start therapy, but nothing really helped me understand myself more than the Taoism philosophy. Art and creative hobbies were something I always excelled at and many said I was destined to be a creative - it was even written in my astrological chart if you believe in it. Art was truly the closest I felt to the idea of 'wu wei' where it was essentially second nature to me and it always brought me into a sense of focus and peace. Nursing was the exact opposite. I'd compare it as saying that in nursing I felt like a rock in a river that refused to move from its spot; in this position the river would ultimately destroy the rock. In art or creative studies, I feel more like a rock flowing with the rive, allowing myself to be free. Becasue of understanding my predicament through Taoism, I ultimately accepted myself and now I'm applied to an art school!

I think this video is the best representation of how I experience the Dao (so far). The main thing, Daoism has taught me, is that nothing really matters. And for that reason, I might as well live a life of joy, rather than fear. It changed everything. I'm not thinking about money or lack thereof all the time anymore. Instead life itself feels like this huge miracle and it's such a privilage to experience it the way I do. I'm SO curious about EVERYTHING. AND: Recently I looked through my bank statement. I'm still not rich. But I thought: Man, it just keeps coming in those little, unexpected doses... I almost felt betrayed for all those years of constant existential fear! And in the next moment I thought: WHAT ARE YOU DOING, ROBIN?! Enjoy it, be grateful! It's finally here. Stop complaining! haha! Also, the money stuff just really doesn't matter all that much anymore. A little financial pillow helps with peace of mind, but besides that, I couldn't care less about it. It's just an energy that flows in and out of my life. Daoism has really changed the way I experience the world. Sometimes I get out of synch and get depressed very easily. But somehow I always find my way back in again. And every time the time of depression seems to become shorter. And if it's just for the knowledge, that everything will be fine. Because nothing really matters. Enjoy life. Bring joy to as many other people as possible. And you can't do anything wrong. Thanks for this great video! 🧡

I am a football player and I can fully say I have felt being in a state of Tao a lot of times when playing, it almost feels like time slows down and your body moves on it’s own and you do things you never knew you could do, I see the play unfold even before it does. I jokingly tell my friends that it’s like having the Sharingan (Naruto). It never happens when I want it to happen or when you have ulterior motives other than just playing football and enjoying the moment itself.

Sometimes I wounder, we all are just a lil partical of earth or solar system. It doesn't matter what is happening like we got sad or happy often but it doesn't matter or no one cares either but at the end of the day we have to end so why all these matter to us . I always wanted to feel ' nothing' but this often get out of my head

Thank you for this. Taoism is the philosophy that seems to line up most closely with my own beliefs. Throughout my own "journey", this is the philosophy that I've come back to most frequently. Your criticism is a thought that I've had as well. If everything is of the Tao, how can anything we do really be out of accord with it? The Tao can be found in both the high and the low places. Good and evil are both of the Tao. Because of that, I don't think it's possible to really do anything that would be out of accord with it. I digress. Even with this thought process, I still believe that this is a beautiful philosophy, and there is a very good chance that this criticism is based on a lack of true understanding of its concepts. Time may tell.

@tory porter I understand, and you're right. I think it was just a poor way of conveying what I meant. I really mean that literally everything is of the Tao. If that's the case, then everything we ever do, no matter what it is, is in accord with the Tao.

@@LostInThought2013 Despite thinking that everything is indeed of the Dao, I believe there's spectrum of how close actions are to the Dao. Animals following their animal instincts is one of the actions closer to the Dao while Humans forcing unreasonable behaviors is one that's further from the Dao in the spectrum.(It's hard to explain the word "unreasonable" in this sentence because reasons and ethics constantly change and evolve). Suicide, for example, should be on the far end of the spectrum.
