T55 has the most classic tank look, it is literally what you would imagine a tank is supposed to look like.

it's generic because the design had to go through russian mud so its hull is made to have big tracks and its turret is small so it's not so heavy and in those times the engines weren't as strong as nowadays

Everyone has their biases but to someone who has never seen a tank before they might expect to see something that looks like a tank; a steel container for transporting fresh water. A tank that really looks like a tank is "Little Willie" and some of the British and German tanks of WWI.

Fuel drums, which allowed the tank crews greater range. The T-55 uses diesel fuel, which is less volatile compared to gasoline. The older T-34 and Stalin tanks series (IS) also had the fuel drums mounted on the sides of the tank, as well as the back.

Sure, if you want to! But will they blow up? From what I understand diesel is combustible under the compression inside an engine. Overall, diesel is less volatile than gasoline, so it probably just pour out through the punctures. From ehow.com; "Lower-volatility fuel is more stable. The lower volatility of diesel compared to gasoline makes it a safer and more stable fuel to handle." Anyway, others with expertise may want to weigh in on the finer points of this.

Those additional external fuel tanks must be removed in case of battle for safety reasons. So it is mounted during the march only.

Танк по-своему красивый и логичный. Впервые когда влезаешь в него, поражает теснота. А послуживши, привыкаешь к нему, и ощущаешь, что места более чем достаточно. Как-то зашли к нам ребята с САУ "Акация": "Ё-моё, танкисты, как вы в такой тесной машине воюете?" Потом мы к ним пошли. Там вообще был прикол. У нас когда запрыгиваешь в машину, ноги сразу натыкаются на сиденье либо на радиостанцию. А у них прыгнул, и чувствую, что лечу, а опоры нет. Наконец-таки долетел до пола. "Да у вас тут плясать можно!" - "Ага", - говорят, - "и девок приводить."

Но по окончанию ресурса (а у любого танка ресурс очень мал) - это, прошу прощения, превращается в металлический кусок г... А вот 54/55, даже 34-85 (доводилось сталкиваться) - ни во что такое не превращались, ибо просты, как топор.

Wow! Great video! I love the classic Soviet tanks. Bubble turret just looks well balanced and simplicity of design makes it look like a beast. Beautiful! Not like that ugly boxy deformed looking T-14 Armata junk pile. And I am starting to like the T-90ms and it's trapezoid shaped turret. That's a slick looking job there. Its neat really when you see that starting with the T-54/55 that they took the same tank and basicly kept the same design but kept updating and upgrading it all the way through to the T-72.😀

the important thing is not what they can do to the tank, but what the tank can do to them, and altough it's firepower is lacking when compared to more modern counterparts, it's still packs a big punch under the right circumstances.

Зимой в нем, очень холодно... В валенках и танковой зимней бэтухе, не жарко, можно сказать совсем наоборот. Но на стрельбах на танковой директрисе, забываешь про мороз. Зато летом хорошо на нем гонять. Грязь выше башни летит. Пехота бежит, а ты думаешь, хорошо быть танкистом, все не пехом идти... То, что простой, это да... Да и рассчитан на пять минут боя, как говорил нам взводный... Машина создавалась для войны, с учётом танковых потерь. Поэтому была проста и не дорога в производстве ...

I don't know why ... but like the t55 alot XD my favs are Tiger1, t55, Tiger2, Is3, Leo2 (edit : i remember, it's because the first tank i saw in real life was a t55 in the winter in Romania when i was a kid so it's image got imprinted in my head)

S tímhle jsem řádil 2 roky. Měl jsem provozku a seděl v tom pomale každý den. Bombastický požitek z jízdy. Ještě bych se chtěl někdy svést. Mám však tušení , že to už asi nevyjde. Do války bych s tím ale rozhodně jít nechtěl.

@@berserker1176 Не обязательно. Но при прочих равных условиях он обнаружит тебя раньше чем ты его. Сильная сторона танков типа т55 в их массовости, чего никак не добиться с дорогими танками вроде абрамса или челленджера. Едва ли возможно себе представить танковую армию, укомплектованную абрамсами.

И тех и других очень много разновидностей, и единственное 100%-е отличие 55 от 54 - отсутствие грибка вентиляции на крыше башни (в связи с установкой ПАЗ у 55 совсем другая система вентиляции). А здесь грибка, как видим, нет.
