Awesome you were able to squeeze your Tandy 1000 HX video in before the end of SepTandy! Nicely done! It cleaned up great! You really lucked out that it came with the memory expansion board too, especially from getting the machine from a recycle place. They usually strip things down. I briefly had a 1000HX and it always reminded me of the Commodore 128 because of the form factor. Now that SepTandy is almost over, it's time to get back on doing PET videos 🙂

Nice acquisition! I was never big on Tandys, but it's great to see this classic machine saved from scrap and in the hands of someone who will appreciate it.

Great find, and a great video about it! I picked up a 1000EX a couple of years back and really enjoy that machine. More than I thought I would really, because like you, I grew up with Commodore 8-bits.

I love the look of that system. A compact PC that isn't a boring beige box. It would look fine next to my Apple IIe, for instance. Add a Gotek in the spare slot and jumper the internal drive for drive B:? You could still use the FDD for physical media but you'd have the ease of use of the Gotek...

Always appreciated the look of the HX. It's a shame that the tidy interior was at the expense of serviceability.

Whoever tried to throw that away should be ashamed of themselves!

OMG, an in-box 1000HX at a recycle center... What did you have to pay for that?

My local E-Waste center knows to look for vintage stuff like this and save them from the shredder.
