Tom - I've been watching your videos for about two weeks now and I am really enjoying the content. I've been using pump therapy for about 15 years now and one of the things I struggle with is managing blood sugar levels during exercise. I like the exercise feature with the X2, but i still find myself dropping low even with exercise mode enabled and can barely squeeze out an hour of vigorous workout. I would be interested in seeing a video on how you manage your sugars during exercise. Do you get your sugar high so you can burn them off (this is what I have been doing). Very interested on your take with this topic. Thanks!

Freaks me out that a pump will control my insulin intake to some degree. But it is time for me to get a pump as the management of T1 is starting to affect my mental health. Getting significant burnout. Kudos to all T1 folks out there. You rock!

You sound just like me! Was on MDI for past three years. Got tired of sticking myself. Just started tandem with control IQ. Pump will give me a correction bolus if needed. It’s more conservative than I would have given and probably gone low. So trying to trust pump 😂

I’m 26 I’ve had t1 since I was 6 and over the last few years even with daily exercise and proper nutrition and injections my a1c has been horrible … I feel your burnout , stay strong and stay positive my friend.

Your videos have become my go to almost every day. 30 years as a not so good diabetic and im trying really hard to get things in order. Thank you Tom.

Well at 25 years of a so-so t1 I can promise it gets easier

I have been telling anyone I know with Diabetes to watch your channel. Also, I wanted to say anyone on a pump or has a CGM, might want to to have a backup bag of sensor, and barrette/test strip in order to take the transmitter off while in the hospital or having x-rays, cat scans done. I was recently in the hospital and had to remove my sensor and transmitter. I put together a hospital bag so in an emergency I can save my sensor by only taking the transmitter off. I also now have pump cartridges, syringes and insert sets incase my cartridge is low like it was when I was waiting for 7 hours in the Emergency Department.

Thank you for all your research and work in making these videos. I am new to diabetes and your sharing the information you have found and your own personal experiences have helped me, TREMENDOUSLY. THANK YOU

Excellent Videos, as a Type 1 Diabetic and a previous user of Medtronic pumps for over 20 years, you have hit many of the bullet points that I am seeing with the Tandem pump. Advances in Diabetes management has gained so much since the clinatest tablets of 1954 when I was diagnosed but at least Tandem seems to strive to prove us a better tool with this new generation of pump.

Phenomenal content. Super impressed. 10 year medtronic survivor, 5 year animus, just switching to to tandem now.

these are really great videos. A couple of minor points: (longtime T-Slim user, previous Medtronic user of 20+ years) 1 -- I like to cut a small hole in the pockets of my pants, I can thread the tubing thru the pocket, so my pump sits comfortably in my pocket, inlacing the connector, which is hidden 2-- very recently, I had a catastrophic pump failure. I had called support several times complaining of new noises while pumping and odd battery behavior when recharging. I was told my pump was normal. Last week, the pump suddenly provided an error that could not be recovered (malfunction code 0-0x26D0) and suddenly I was without a pump. I was able to locate my old medtronic pump, and Tandem support got me a replacement in 2 days. TWO VERY LONG DAYS. I wasn't thrilled with support. Medtronic used to be fantastic, but in later years, they lost their gold stars in my book. My take-away from this, I felt that if I had the ability to remove and install a new battery, or provide some kind of "reboot" it might have got me pumping again for a short time. I did power off my pump, and then it would not power on at all.

Very good to know as someone probably going to switch away from medtronic! Medtronic got me a replacement pump in like an hour after i called them, because they had a distributor person in my city. Scary that Tandem took that long

​@colin5227 Medronincs 670g almost killed me as it malfunctioned after 3 months with 0 damage. They blamed it on the clear Retainer Ring but mine had the new black composite ring. Medtronic has a plethora of C.A Lawsuits against them for failures with almost all of their D.M.E. their cgm compatible device is trash, it has a piece of what looks like metal material on a spacecraft inside of you while as Dexcom working with Tandem tests the fluid around your skin inside of your body with a tiny needle giving you more accurate and worthwhile care. At the end of the day Dexcom almost killed me, has a faulty computer in their pumps and u have a video 6 hours long showing my pump with 0 damage 3 months after being manufactured giving me 3x the amount of insulin per hour and per dosage as normal.i sued them in small claims court and they settled immediately for funds to buy a new pump as I was still in warranty at the time

I’ve been on Medtronic for years but I’m really considering changing. Their customer support is awful, their Gaurdian sensor is highly inferior to Dexcom (at least the 3 was, I couldn’t trust that thing during mealtime).

I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 5 years old and it was hard because I did not even really know what was going on your videos really help me learn new and better devices for my diabetes thanks you

I appreciate you sir and your educational non favoritism. I got the g7 recently and finally been approved on my tandem slim x2. Your videos motived me to move away from the pen to this. (I was weirded out by things hanging off my body but when I went to the g6 it wasn't bad and I was happy I was finally controlling my sugars after 31 years!). Thank you again from a sugar-free trooper! ^.^

I just got my pump a week ago and then came across your video. Excellent presentation and I agree on all points! (Former Medtroic client fir 20 years) I am from the USA. The insulin waste is my greatest dis-satisfaction!!! I have a 20 percent co-pay and insulin is extremely expensive. Great video’s.

Same here! I miss my Medtronic pump because of this issue. The 10.2 unit safety feature is unnecessary. It gets me so upset when I mess up and have to sit there as it delivers 10.2 more units of insulin! A total waste!

Wow, what a video. I am due for a new pump and I have been on Medtronic for 20 years. My Paradigm 530g work horse finally died, so I’m thinking about getting the T-Slim so it can work in conjunction with my Dex. Thank you so much for making such a thorough video, especially when it comes to the ‘cons’ of the pump. I can see that it will be an adjustment for me, especially with the amount of button pushes I need to get to a bolus, compared to the simplicity of the Medtronic Paradigm pumps. Still, I think i’ going to go for it. Thanks!

I am sure these 'Pumps' will get more convenient and more trust-worthy over time. AI Control will help with that when newer models are released. I like the idea of a Pump with two distinct chambers. One with Insulin, one with a Glucose substance. Now that would be game changing to have dynamic-balancing on both ends of the spectrum.

A couple of comments: (1) Minimum amount of insulin that can be infused is .05 units and not .01 units. (2) Once a bolus has been started it can be stopped before it is fully infused. Once started, there is a red X displayed and when pressed it will stop the infusion. (3) You mentioned, during the infusion set change, perhaps neglecting to fill the cannula, then having to start all over again and waste insulin. You can select the "Fill cannula" directly and fill the cannula only. Very useful if an infusion set gets pulled out or you feel you need to change the cannula. I personally don't set up infusion set reminders and will change the set when there is less than 5 units indicated in the cartridge. Generally 3-4 days depending. Sometimes it may mean wasting a bit of insulin if that low amount will not get me through the night or interfere with my day. Informative video.

Minimum amount of delivery is indeed 0.05 units, but what he said in the video is that the delivery precision was to 0.01 units. So the minimum you can deliver is 0.05 units, but if you chose 0.06 units, you would indeed get 0.01 units more than 0.05 units

The canula thing isn't much of a problem the main problem is that it forces you to fill tubing after cartridge change. This is ok when you actually have a cartridge to fill, but given the fact that the pump stores your session in some volatile memory, it erases it when it dies, thus you have to refill tubing after your pump dies and you charge it, even if you just filled the tubing. The same happens when you put in less than 50 units. Sure 50 unit minimum is fine if its needed for pump, but if it doesn't remember that it was *jus* filled (and tubing), you waste 10 extra units after refilling to meet 50 unit requirement.

@@JacobRy I have no experience in losing parameters due to a fully discharged battery as you indicate. The pump does alert you when the battery is getting low. Just have to be mindful of that.

Good video. Thanks Tom! I have seen that there is already an integration between the dexcom g7 and the t-slim x2 pump in some countries. For example in the USA since the end of 2023 or in Germany as of recently. If there are more new features through that you could make your next video about that. Best regards from Germany

Medtronic pumper x20 yrs. & I am done with it. Looking forward to getting a Tandem t:slim x2 with control iq. I downloaded the Tandem app with pump simulator and like it a lot. Of course changing the reservoir is so easy with Medtronic, but the thought of going back to the Medtronic sensor with charging the transmitter periodically, the insertion procedure, triple taping, fingersticks, and changing it weekly-I just can’t. It’s a trade off with Tandem’s bladder reservoir with a tail. And you get a bigger screen with Tandem. Please keep the videos coming! Very informative and I learn from the comments too. Thank you.

Thank you! I have had my t-slim for almost a year now and have been so frustrated with filling it. Your single statement about getting the needle syringe exactly in the middle explains why I often can't fill the dang thing. Alos, everything you hate about this pump is the same for me. I remember when I had the medtronic and saw ppl with the Tandem I thought how ugly the tubing was, and now that is me. Same with the clip...it's garbage...I don't know why they don't change these seemingly simple things and I'm guessing maybe Medtronic has a patent or something or is Tandem not responsive to their customers. Not sure what is the best way to give feedback as I did mention it to one of the tech ppl on the phone last year but maybe if enough of us commented it might change...regardless, as you have agreed, I love the functions of my pump and I love your videos. I'm going to continue watching it now.

all of my pants have little holes on the inside of the pockets so I do NOT rip by tube off of my body- if you are active!!!

I'm just about to start on this model after using Medtronic or Omnipod models since the late 1990s. I really appreciate your including both pros and cons. I've been especially worried about the small screen and other small parts since I have low vision and lots of problems with my hands. I'm interested in how you connected your clip to the pump - I'm assuming some sort of glue or adhesive?

When I got my tandem t slim x 2 end of last April they gave me two power cords. I keep one with me while I travel outside my home in my carry bag and the other stays in my apartment for inside use. If one ever stops working I will purchase another that way I have a spare always. When I went away for 17 days I took both chargers with me. That way I had a back up in case either one stopped working.

Tandem seems like an awesome pump! But insulin pumps are really expensive, and I don't like tubed pumps. So I'm on Omni pod.

Just got mine today :D I had a pen for over 22 years so but hell yeah is working so good :O only a few hours in :O :O

About charging, the simple solution for me is to use a portable "juice pack" made for charging cell phones. It fits in my insulin pump waist band easily, and doesn't tether me to an outlet. These juice packs are around 10 bucks from amazon, and make charging a non issue. One 10k mah battery pack will literally charge my pump for 2 months before it needs recharging. As far as the safety features for bolusing, I am part of the early access for mobile bolus, and since I have had that access, I *never* use my pump screen. It is so much better than pulling the pump out. To make a bolus, I simply hit a tab within the app, make a few button presses, and it uses apple's faceid technology to confirm. It's literally less than 10 seconds, and I don't even have to look at my pump. Hopefully this feature will be approved elsewhere before long. Every insulin pump should be this way.

Seems a wise solution

I just switched the first of my three kids from Loop (Omnipod) to the t:slim x2 and I am loving it. Her time in range has gone from 69% to 85% and we have many days 95% in range. The battery life is amazing and it’s quick and easy to Bolus from either the phone app or the pump. After 3 years on loop, dependent on the phone, I’m glad to be able to bolus my 8 year old if she forgets her phone. (That won’t be such a problem for adults who use their pocket computer regularly, and they may want to look at the Tandem Mobi). I am trying to switch my two other kids to the x2 because the results we are having are so good. I agree the site change is more tedious but I know I’ll get the hang of it very quickly after several changes.

Good to know, making me almost regret our choice for my toddler if it's long and slow to fill. With a toddler I have needed to learn to but super quick with his dexcom or any injection since he just doesn't understand. I am hoping it works out as here only dexcom g6 works with pumps and only Tandum right now.

You said in the video that in the site change process, if you forget a step, you have to start over with the Fill Cannula step and waste more Insulin. However, you don't need the fill cannula step every time you change sites. Such as if using the Steel infusion sets and changing the tubing at the same time. In that case, you would do the fill tubing step until Insulin drips out of the steel needle, but since the needle has nothing but Insulin in it, there is then no reason to even touch the Fill Cannula function in the pump. Though I use the Autsoft XC so have to fill the cannula for every site change so never checked if you can activate the site change reminder without using the fill cannula option or not.

I do get your problem with the hose connector. But that is a standard medical connection called luer-lock system. You can see it is the exact same locking mechanism the needle used to fill the reservoir attaches to the syringe with. An especially useful feature in using a standardized locking mechanism is that there is a huge amount of 3rd party luer-lock infusion systems you can choose the right for you from.

My fiver year old son he has adhd and has this and it’s been better then the shots Lantus all day, Humalog fast acting instead of sharp spikes and sharp drops this insulin pump has controlled it better and doesn’t give the full amount at first so when we pre treat his food and doesn’t eat everything we can recalculate it and if your sugar needs a correction depending the number your calculation on the sugar level the machine will let you know what correction he needs and it will give him the shot for the next 4 hours at like 1 unit an hour also has an activity mode that so he can play outside and this machine learns your habits and knows when your asleep. I highly recommend , we took classes to learn this machine and I can tell you it’s well worth it. It

The Control IQ features are a step up for me vs older Medtronic pumps. However, one 'minus' of the Tslim I struggle with greatly is the alarming. I suspect that perhaps you cannot turn off certain alarms because of safety decision. Potentially that is beneficial for people in need of levels of assistive care or are deeper sleepers. However, I'd be very happy with an option to snooze/silence *any* of its alarms, even if it meant 1-2 extra prompts about accepting risks of snoozing/silencing. In business or church type meetings, the alarm can become very disruptive even after carbs ingested. E.g. when a BG low is registered, I can ingest glucose, but due to the 10-20 min delay in actual BG readings, the alarms are troublesome waiting out the new readings; with potential (unfortunate) short-term recourse being to power down the pump and app.

Oh wow this positively sucks. Medtronic pumps (which are great except for their lousy cgm) allow you to quickly silence

You shouldn't have to start from scratch if you forget to "start insulin delivery". You should be able to go back to load, select fill cannula and then after you've done that, you should be able to click the checkbox in the upper right corner to resume insulin delivery

A very interesting video Tom and thankyou again. I am a Freestyle Libre 2 user now but have been told I would benefit from a pump. I Like the feature of the Control IQ but worry that I might set it to inject too much and drop too much. I am not sure if you have done a video for this but think it might be informative to all including myself. Not as a review of certain products or features of a specific type of pump but what did you learn while using a pump for the first time. Pros and advantages that you have experienced with better control and the cons of over dosage, wearing a pump and if any lifestyle restrictions by wearing this equipment. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks.

"the Control IQ but worry that I might set it to inject too much and drop too much." You do not have any control over Control IQ. It is programmed into the pump. It uses the CGMS blood sugar readings to adjust basal insulin to keep your blood sugar in a certain range. And gives extra bolus insulin when blood sugar is high. Control IQ runs by itself. Its programmed to keep your blood sugar at a certain level. You are talking about giving yourself too big of a bolus for food. You can do that with any pump. Or with injections too. That is all based on how you determine how much insulin to give yourself for food or corrections. The pump gives whatever you tell it to give. If you tell the pump to give 10 units but only need 5 units, then your blood sugar will probably go low. Control IQ will likely suspend basal doses when blood sugar drops, but it cannot correct for your error of giving too much insulin. It cannot pull insulin out of your body. Control IQ cannot fix your mistakes.

I had a Tandem trainer come to my house when I first started on this pump. Your Tandem trainer will come to your house and set reasonable basal and bolus rates into your pump. Of course as you wear the pump and track your blood sugar numbers with your cgm, you will be able to adjust how much insulin the pump gives you. You can call your trainer for help at the beginning of using the pump or you can call your endocrinologist to help with settings (if you have an endocrinologist).

Thanks for this detailed video! I was diagnosed with Type 1 three years ago. I've been on the omnipod the whole time. Im super unhappy with omnipod. In the last 3 months, I've been to the ER twice due to the pump malfunctioning each time in the early morning hours or late at night. My new endo recommended the medtronic. After doing some research, i have decided medtronic looks a bit too complicated for me. I have a friend using Tslim. She directed me to your content. Any tips for someone in my situation regarding going from a tubeless pump to one with tubes? Thank you

A Medtronic pump battery lasts a month. Then you just swap out a single AA battery.

I used a Medtronic Paradigm pump for 20 years just switched to a Medtronic 770G and hate it. I have no idea why that blasted away simple viewing and activating features. And all the loud button pushes - I can't even!! I'm checking out T-slim to see what the trade off might be for a pump I already hate

Thank you for detailed review. I agree 100% wrt tedious filling process. But at 1:20 you didn't show the important step of vacuuming out all the air inside the cartridge before filling insulin. I actually do the vacuuming (pulling on the injection needle plunger way out to evacuate any air in the pouch) twice while tapping on the cartridge lightly. Air bubbles will ooze out. Also very important let the insulin stabilize to room temperature to minimize air bubbles post filling. Overall, waste more insulin plus way too much single use gadgets, especially the AutoSet throwawy inserter.

Thank you so much for the details. I really wanted to consider getting this pump, but filling that sucker is not going to work for me due to damaged vision. Sigh.

Hi, have you tried the ACCU-CHEK solo micropump system? I would like to know about this pump

I am in the US and I have been on Tandems pumps since they started. I was on Minimed/Medtronic since 1997. Best change I ever made. Yes lots of steps but for the most time they do not bother me. Tandem has a great future and the next 5 years is very exciting. I was considering Omnipod in April 2023 but after many videos on the next 5 years I am going nowhere. I just hope they work out the phone stuff since my model cannot do the bolus yet. This scares me with the Mobi coming. Great video I must say.

When using the multi wave feature when bolusing does this still work in the closed loop system? I’m coming from. Medtronic closed loop and it doesn’t let me multi wave. Only straight bolus then the ‘closed loop’ will adjust accordingly if I’m too active or not had enough.

Are you still using the tslim or ypso? Do you prefer the autosoft 90 over the tru steel?

Delayed bolus feature is excellent when you are out drinking with friends. 😅

I use this every day now and instead of having bent Canullas you can switch to a different type of site called Tru steel and I have tried it now and no more bent canullas!

I am confused about it taking 2 hours to fully charge. I believe mine only takes 1/2 hour if I let the charge go down to 20%, but since I usually charge daily while on my computer, it is charged quickly as it the charge rarely goes below 80%

I'm in the US and the list of phones that are compatible with the on-phone bolus function is criminally short.

Question. In the instruction manual of the t-slim x2 pump it says one should change the black reservoir every 48-72 hours. What is your experience with that? Have you really changed your reservoir every 72 hours. Every time I do that I have to pull out the insulin and then push it into a new reservoir?

Its can be struggle for sure but you control it or it controls you. Just like waves in the surf, you will learn to go along with them and make it part of your life. Once you get control, it will be like riding a bike. If you are Type 1 its just a fact of life now and you can have a great, fun, enjoyable life with diabetes. I know I have so far, T1d for 30+ years so far.

I'm curious how you found out that the cartridge had 15-20% remaining insulin. Did you crack open a cartridge? Or is it based on filling with approximately 280 units and seeing the "+240" shown on the display after starting a new cartridge. Sorry for the deluge of comments, there was a lot of interesting content in the video

When you go through the airport, don't go through the x-ray machine, instead ask for a hand search or Pat down. I do it all the time and never had a problem.

What rhis pump like with no cgm. In my country theyre very expencive and unless we pay, we get the cgm but doesnt sync like the dexcom one or libre 2. So how is this pump when not using the cgms

I did not get your comment about filling the infusion set. Of course it needs to be filled on all pumps or it will pump air into you body before actual insulin. Also once you connect the reservoir with the infusion set you should always discard them together. You should not disconnect the reservoir from the infusion set once connected because after that you might once again push air into your body instead of insulin and the dosage will not be correct.

I mean, if it takes an hour for the pump to fully charge it's fine for me because I usually sleep at about 8pm and charge my phone an hour before going to sleep and it gets fully charged.

I am interested in how much better my blood glucose control could be using a pump system by comparing data with people using a t:slim pump closed loop to me on manual shots (Tresiba/Lyumjev) and a G6 CGM? My Dexcom clarity reports over the past 90 days an average glucose level of 100 mg/dl, 34 mg/dl standard deviation, 5.7% GMI and 89% time in range. This could be very interesting and help me make a decision on getting a pump, thanks in advance!

I used the medtronic Mio but not on Tandem yet. they look like they are the exact same infusion site where it connects to your skin, just connect to the pump differently. I have used adhesive wipes like Skin Tac and that worked fine if you are concerned it won't stick well

On MDI. Waiting for Iport this week for injections. Then the InPen so can see my numbers on app. I really don’t want a pump. Like to make my own decisions and don’t care for tubing. Wish me good luck

Hello. Been on MDI for three years. Love the InPen. Give all the data a pump does. Used the iport for awhile. Did not work for me. Had to put needle exactly in the right spot or would not inject. Also started getting scaring. Have a box of you would like. To me looked better on paper than in use. But the InPen genius. Good luck

How does the 10 unit minimum fill lead to insulin waste? You can't fill up an infusion set with anything less than 10 units afaik. Is there an infusion set that you can fill with less than 10 units? Or is this only a problem if the pump's battery dies completely?

I don't know if I'll directly hit the mark of your question, but one thing I've found related to this is that if I accidentally cancel out of the load/fill process after completely filling the tubing with 10+ units (with new reservoir) - there's no way I have found to bypass and tell the pump, "I've already filled the tubing." Returning to the fill process will require at least another 10+ unit fill before it is appeased.

@@craigbutler8092 I have a theory and an experiment I haven't tried yet. What I want to do is to make sure I haven't gotten to the warning state telling you that you need to change your set. Prior to doing that, I want to refill the cartridge, go to the "load" and do cannula fill only. If my experiment works, it should run volume reset to show the correct number of units and basically have a "limitless" cartridge. I tried this during the warning period and it didn't work, but I still plan on trying this out

My mom is due to switch to tandem or upgrade her Medtronic and we cannot decide. Her eyes are really bad and has shakey hands and it’s a huge learning experience. Are there any regrets switching with people with these issues

Keep Medtronic. I prefer Tandem, but the Medtronic has many menus in small writing. Also she won't have to go through the learning process of a new User Interface of a different brand.

I've just switched to Tandem. It's insanely difficult (and messy) to change the cartridges. I'm struggling with the tiny fill space for needle, for example, and my eyesight isn't too bad. The Tandem is user-unfriendly in many practical ways, like getting caught up more easily if you're doing some gardening, for example. I only switched as the CGM control with Dexcom is supposed to be better (haven't started it yet), but otherwise I'd stay with Medtronic, particularly for anyone physically challenged in any way. It's difficult to believe Tandem have actually tested their product with any real users, as there are a good few very obvious problems that become evident very quickly, as the review outlines.

Went back to MDI bc I needed a break from technology hanging on me. Plus I got BAD scar tissue. Ended up keto acidosis in icu bc of crimped cannula!!! You don’t know until it’s too late sometimes!

How can you tell if you have scar tissue? I’ve noticed my daughter doesn’t absorb the insulin as well in her abdomen anymore. Are you able to feel it? Trying to find new spots for her but she’s really thin so they’re hard to find.

I used to get crimped cannulas all of the time when I first started pumping. After three months, I changed to the Tru-Steel infusion set and have never had to worry about crimped cannulas again. If you have a CGM, you should have seen your blood sugars going up no matter how much/many corrections you gave yourself. That could have saved yourself a trip to the ICU.

Oh my God. This happened to me 3 years ago. I think that Tandem is aware of these issues. They tried sending me a bunch of different tubing, but i ended up getting the Omnipod. I've been happy with it since, it's been 2 years of good A1Cs.

Been on a pump for 7 years and would never go back. Never had any real issues and those that I have I've been able to sort myself.

For each personal basal profile (6) you can have 16 different time slots, not 26 😊

I am a new T1D and I was wondering, how do you sleep with a tubed pump? I am currently doing MDI and I am contemplating getting the Tslim x2 and I can’t wrap my head around what it would be like sleeping with a pump. I already have the G6 and that changes how I can sleep already. Any info you could share with me would be great. Or maybe even a video?😀

It was really easy to get used to for me. Maybe once very few years I'll wake up because I've rolled over onto my infusion set and it's uncomfortable, but that's been the only issue.

I clip it to the waistband of my pj pants/shorts, and usually i wear a shirt so i just make sure the tubing is all covered by my clothes. You can also wear like a running belt or flip belt and put it in there if you dont have anything to clip it to. or just put it on the bed right beside you and remember to pick it up if you get up or switch position

What is Your Favorit Pump and why?

I have the choice of either this or the medtronic 780, unfortunately I will be working in China next year and can't seem to get supplies for the tandem there :(

My doctor is kinda forcing me to get this thing. I had a pump about 10 years ago when I was like 12 and all I remember is hating it and having the tube getting tugged on and all that but I figured i'd give pumps another shot seeming that my insurance covers it. Thanks for all the helpful info on this channel!

I'm watching this as my tandem pump decided to kill me and stoped treating my high sugar 👍🏻

Android/Bluetooth problems. I was Animas loyal user until they folded, went to X2 4 years ago. Tandem is having software problems, that they haven't fixed. Three months I get a new one, looking now to see who has the best pump 2023. Recommendations welcome Thanks

Yes, Tandem seems to think that it's OK to add/remove features, after 4 years they take phone compatibility, back to 2000 tech. I've used tandem, Animas and metronic. Medtronic is a good pump but their CGM is the worst. I also remember the alarms to be sleep depriving, demanding calibration at 2am. Loved X2, but not confident in their sustainability, removing features that are industry norms is concerning.

@@craigcoffman69 Have you considered Omnipod 5? I think that with Dexcom G6 might be the best commercial loop available to you if you are in the US and not want to go with Tandem. I agree with you re: Medtronic.

I heard ALL of the safety features are because of law suits from parents of young children who may have died from the pump!!! YES all of the safety features are like a grandmother always yelling at you WHEN you already known what is going on!!!

No doubt the CGM is the best.. not sure about this pump, the tubing looks uncomfortable and unhideable. The recharging of the battery looks like a pain, and how long will the battery life be.... I guess its another trip with medtronic.

I have never understood why insulin in a vial still needs to be refrigerated after you use it, but an insulin pen with the same type of insulin can be kept at room temperature after first use. Ummm....WHY?

Once you take insulin out of the fridge, it can be used at room temperature for 28 days. You can’t keep insulin out at room temperature and then put it back in the fridge and take it out again. So in summary , new insulin that you’re not using is stored in the fridge, once you take it out of the fridge at room temperature , it’s good for 28 days at room temperature.😊

I stopped using this pump as it gave me an unauthorized large dose of insulin while in its auto mode, I have been waiting an answer as to what happen from tandem for over 8 months safe to say its not a priority back to mdi

Weirdly, this probably will become muscle memory and a quick process for you over time as I have experienced. :) I do complain about certain quirks of the pump, but now the fill process isn't really on the list any longer. Ha. (The alarms are top-o-list. They drive me up the wall.) I came from Medtronic pump before this, and thought the same thing you're expressing. In a sort of optimistic view, now I think it's advantageous to have the fill needles as injection backups if for some reason the pump goes haywire and I have nothing else!

The site change reminder is for me useless as the AutoSoft infusion sets never last that long for me. They give up and start leaking after 1,5-2 days. Just ordered the TruSteel sets to try them as an alternative.

@Engelbert Humperdinck , I also use a Medtronic pump. I also use the Sure-T infusion sets which I love. If they accidentally get pulled out, you can clean it off, stick it back in and cover with medical tape. I leave mine in for 7 days, clean it off and place in another area for 7 days. I am on a limited income and do this out of necessity and I am lazy. HaHa. I was wondering if Tandem has anything like Sure-T. I have an older Medtronic which I've had for over 6 years. I can't imagine having a pump last only 4 yearss. My first Medtronic pump lasted over 6 years and was still working when I traded up to use with a CGM.

@@kingsix2000 yeah, I'm curious as to the leak spot. I have had the twist connect pop off before, but I just started screwing it tighter. I agree, the training misses a lot of the finer details of using the product and also nuances that you find out after using the product for a while. I have found both Medtronic and Tandem are guilty of this. As far as engineering is concerned, it is a challenging product to make since delivering insulin is fundamentally complicated. When you need to make that product compatible for "grandmothers" to tech super nerds is a daunting task. If you don't know about some features on your iphone, no big deal. If you don't know some of the features of your pump, VERY big deal.

At first thought my 670-G was normal to be awakened several times a night for CHECK BLOOD SUGARS...PLEASE CELEBRATE...BLOOD SUGARS LOW WHEN IT'S NOT...ALERT ALERT ALERT drives me insane. I wear hearing aids so need to wear it on a necklace but the alarms still wake up my wife. I know some people would complain if they were hung with a new rope so after reading other users complaints think they all can't be wrong so I'm opting for a T;Slim x2

American here... My insulin is 100% covered.
