Thank you for another excellent video! I have been waiting for your review of these two lenses and happy to see that there it is.
I really enjoy your channel. The information is clear & very well delivered. Keep up the great work!
Amazing review and your 4K video quality! Love the fact that you mentioned shooting with the GH5!
so happy to see this video uploaded, great timing
You read my mine as I was looking for Tamron review. Thanks TCSTV
Oh my goodness, how I've been waiting for a proper look at these two.
I just order the Tamron!!! for the Nikon D850... both on back order. Looking forward to receiving them both.
Excellent and very informative video, great job guys.
I have owned 2 tamron 24-70 VC in the past so I have a little more pull toward the new Tamron VC. Tamron quality control for me has been impressive, picture quality has been impressive and price also so for me the Tamron is the best deal you can get period forget about the money. Don't know to much about the Sigma but It looks good as well. This is all good for DSLR owners so go Tamron and Sigma!
@2:35 As a proud Pentaxian, I appreciate Chris incorporating some Pentax into the review :-D Thanks for the videos, guys.
Hi Comparison between 24-70 2.8 old tamron and new G2 verion would be great
Yay, a review I was hoping for! I'd get the Tamron just because the zoom's the way I'm used to with my Nikon lenses, but I also enjoy the two Tamrons I own. Happy both lenses are so good.
Really good reviews!
You helped me decide, CSTV. Going with the Tamron G2. So, I'll be selling my first gen Tamron; My very first SLR lens. Thanks for the great moments, my dear. May your next owner take you to new and exciting places
I've been struggling on which one to get. Both seem very viable, but I may end up getting the Tamron lens. Thank you very much for this helpful video!
Awesome! This will help me a lot!
Super helpful video. Thanks!
I'm loving the Tamron 24-70 G2 with my D850 ✌️

Same here, first lens i picked up with mine. 2nd lens was the Tamron 70-200 G2.
Great hands on, lucky to get that Sigma, hard to get on our end. For the value and besides a little hunting issues, that Tamron is pretty good

Nice review!
Just watched this and appreciated your wry humor (yes, US Spelling). This is a great comparative video and very helpful.
If I get one, definitely going with the Tamron. Looks like a stellar lens. BTW, I so agree with you - I don't know why people aren't really looking into those Tamron primes!! I own the 45mm, it's one heck of a lens! Paired up with my 6D, it makes for a perfect all-day setup. Amazing build, weather sealed, IQ is fantastic, f/1.8 aperture gives you beautiful bokeh, and the VC is AMAZING!!! It's an awesome lens.

There's a bokeh crazyness trend nowadays imho, some people hear 1.4 and it's all they want. So sigma is dominating there. They are great lenses but I much prefer the built quality, size, IQ VC and overall concept of the Tamrons.
Thanks for the great video! I just picked up the Nikon D850, would you favor the sigma 24 to 70, versus the 24 to 105 for a better walk around, every day lens? Thanks so much for your time
These both look like great lenses overall, I keep wondering about the Tokina 24-70 f/2.8. Granted, it's not stabilized or weather sealed, but by all indications it is much sharper at f/2.8 than either of these, especially out to the corners. Thoughts on that one?
Good reviews Chris.
Finally a review about this two new lenses! Both amazing, but I am going to buy the Tamron. It really impressed me!

Really ? It seems that Sigma is better in corners at 24 f 2,8 . But otherwise, I'm Ok with you.
I tried 2 sigma 50mm f1.4 art lenses and both had inconsistent focus issues, ie. On tripod, focusing on the same object single shot drive, using a remote, I would get one shot that's front focusing one shots thats rear focusing and another one really sharp all in random orders. Of course it's more pronounced the wider the aperture. Did you experience af issue with the sigma zoom?
I have four Sigma Art primes and they're incredible. In each case, I very carefully considered the Canon alternatives but opted for the Sigmas. I also wanted a nice 24-70 f/2.8 'walkaround' lens and discounted the Canon straight away simply because it's a lot more expensive and has no stabilisation. There aren't too many of these comparisons out yet, but from what I can tell, the Tamron does tend to come out on top. Mine arrived yesterday and I have to agree with the conclusions in this video - the image quality is fantastic. I've only used it once so far but, needless to say, it is absolutely pin sharp including very good corner sharpness. I'll be doing a full review of it on my channel once I've spent a little bit more time with it.
Heads up: The Tamron G2 is parfocal. That's a huge improvement over the G1 lens for video work. I wonder if the Sigma Art is parfocal or varifocal.
Really appreciate the research as well as the practicality of your reviews. Question..which lens serves me best overall...70-200 G2 or the 24-70 G2? I realize that both of these would cover the most of my photography world but, with $ being the concern as to "there can only be one" which one? Thank you in advance Chris...for all your extra mile work!~
This episode should be dedicated to the memory of Chris' backpack.

Thank you Piotr. Roots was nice enough to sympathize with my plight and sent me another one! Chris @ TCSTV
Great video! May I ask did you find some focusing accuracy issues with the Tamron? I saw some reviews about it, but not sure. Thanks!
Can't wait for my 35 to arrive! Been a Tammy fan since I bought my 90mm Di VC USD a couple years ago after I bought my first full frame. They've really stepped up their game and so I'm sticking with them. I now have their 90mm and the excellent 15-30. Now waiting for the 35 which the seller won't be sending til next Tuesday since this week is pretty much their version of Thanksgiving.
Great video and comparison. I like both lenses but u shall purchase the Tamron 24-70 I also want the Tamron 85mm lens. Also how on earth are you managing to get great low light with the Panasonic GH5
i would make sure prior to testing their sharpness they are focus tested on a focus target/finely tuned if need be, as from my experince new lenses can be slightly out.
I've noticed a lot of people using the Sigma 18-35 on FF, even on camera's like RED; however it is only usable above 27mm so wouldn't it be a better choice to get the Sigma 24-70 ? The reason I ask is because I am using the a6500 but want to go FF when the A7Riii comes out and want to invest in a new lens.
Which one do you think it could perform better for wedding photography, specially low light conditions?
Thanks for reviewing the new players in the lens market. Love your videos! Have you considered reviewing Light L16?
It's nice to see Tamron and Sigma pushing each other to do good things. Just got back from a trip to BC, shooting primarily with a sigma 17-50, and 150-600 C. I bought both lenses and a used 7D mkii for around the same price of canon 24-70 F4.0L IS, and 70-200 F4.0L IS. Not saying I wouldn't love to have the L glass though.
Hi, i'm planing to use the Sigma 24-70art on a Sony A7SII via mc-11 with a monopod for video shooting. It would be safe? do you guys think the lens mount will suffer? Adding a lens suport on the monopod would be messy. Please guys advise me a little on this. There is any type of tripod mount for the mc -11 or even the lens? Thank u,
getting the Tamron , can;t wait to place the order tonight
I'm really confused about which one to buy. Sigma or Tamron. Could help? it's because?
TheCameraStoreTV in your experience, how much difference in picture quality will you get between 2 of the same lens but different mount?
Hey, nice review! What's the bag you are carrying though? Is it a camera bag?
How do you think that the Tamron lens will perform for a inside picture of a hockey player in an inside rink with all those differents light possibility?
nice short review. if you were to buy a 24-70 and the choice is between nikon ed without vr and tamron with g2, what would you go for, the prices are almost similar. please reply. Herbert from Kenya
Heyy hii.. I heard that sigma and tamron lenses gives little soft focus(little less sharpness) after 2 3 years is that true??
The lens review of The Camera Store are very rare and I wish they were more frequent.
Jordan, which one of these works better in hand for video in terms of image stabilization and nice focus ring?
is there any way fixing distortion from tamron shot at 24mm with 5d mark 3 ? there is no profile lens in lightroom
Does the Tamron have more of a focus breathing problem than Sigma (that is, when at close focus and set at 70mm, what are the defacto focal lengths?).
Hey there... can you just enlighten me about the ISO 2000 at 3:23 pls. why would you use that much of iso to capture that pic.
You always make top reviews and awesome quality in all footage. Top notch, also sound is a blast. Love that. Regarding the 24-70 which is crucial for all pros there are some things I may disagree about. Fact is that VC/VR best is tested on live footage and of course stills. Sigma can not even get close there. Nor Canon, Nikon. On D850 its hard to say but Tamron give Nikon a real fight. Being sharper on many widths starting from f 2,8. Nikon better on some. NO direct comparision but on Canon 5dsr and Canon newest 24-70 almost the same results. They tend to be sharper at different focal lengths. We need to do severe pixelpeep to see it. Real time world. What we called 3rd party is today game changer due to price. I use the Tamron. Its a blast.
Great review. And I think I have the same vest.....
can you sort out my problem of mine. I am confused of buying the lens in company's.Sigma AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for canon 80d and Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for canon 80d which one would you suggest. And whats the difference?
i would very much interested in seeing review of the SONY Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70mm F2.8 ZA SSM II and the tamron 24-70mm f2.8 G2, mainly because the ssm11 is the only 24-70mmf2.8 made for the sony "A" mount these days....... REPLY
Just a quick question, I am having Canon 24-70 2.8 version 1 and wondering if the Tamron 24-70 VC G2 is a solid upgrade? I know the Canon version 2 would outperform the G2 but I have no ideas about version 1. Hope to hear your opinion. Thanks :)
Thank you Sir. Appreciated. Tamron G2 it is.
Is it possible to use the tamron on my crop sensored camera? A nikon d5600
I was blessed with a good copy of the original G1 Tamron lens. The biggest down side was AF accuracy out of the box. AFMA allowed me to fix these issues, I know many photographers who couldn't. I hope that they have fix the AF issues with the G2 like the new 85 mm VC. I was surprised how accurate the 85mm was from Tamron. Let's hope it has the same accuracy.
Oooo that GH5 walking shot. Also always love it when Chris lets loose and lets a few f***s fly away.
I use both Tamron and Sigma lenses and I’m more than happy with both companies. My 24-70 is the previous model of the Tamron and I find it an excellent lens, so good I have no intention of up dating it.
is this lens available on E mount?
great to see a youtube channel with that many subs from Calgary! keep it up, will visit the store soon
Thanks for the review, sold my Canon 24-70mm and looking to replace it - w/o going to the mk2. Was considering the Sigma due to having shot with the 35mm ART and was blown away. The Tamron boasts new tech, but haven't had much experience with them overall. Now the question is: do I save the coin and get the Sigma or go all-in for the Canon mk2 version.

@@cjinreallife3864 after lots of testing, I changed course and ended up going back to the trusty workhorse Canon 24-105mm mk2 lol... go figure. I'm now all-in with mirrorless (R5 and R3) and also all-in on RF glass now. You can't go wrong with either lens option really, but if you're already mirrorless... go for the new RF glass if you can.
At this point, I'm only watching these excellent reviews to hear Chris's, "or some sh*t like that".
When you have to pixel-peep your image to find defaults, you know that's an excellent lens lol. They're both outstanding. In my situation, I chose sigma because my local photography store doesn't sell any of Tamron's. In conclusion, your tests in low light is an excellent way to verify a lens performance. Very good review, sir!
Can you do a review on the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 art lens?
How does the G2 compare to the original Tamron 24-70mm?
The Tamron is great...
We purchased the Tamron a couple months back and we're doing video exclusively. The VC, while good, does give these really jarring jitters when filming in 60 fps. I've seen other reviews where others have experienced the same thing. Can anyone comment on that?
I tried the Sigma with both the Canon 70D and Canon M50 (too heavy for the m50 though). The speed of the AF was awesome in both cameras. I feel that the Sigma 24-70 is a very reliable lens for videography, Unfortunately I haven't tried the Tamron.
Would have loved to hear about and see some stabilized video footage shot with these lenses.

as a video shooter I would pick the sigma, simply because the focus ring goes in the same direction as most cinema lenses, while the tamron goes in the opposite

+Smaakjeks K........I owned the tamron 17-50mm (parfocal) and honestly didn't find needing the parfocal use that much. the sigma 17-50mm for example only changes slightly when zooming in and out (and is easy to refocus, although has bad breathing), and you can always just stop the lens down and compensate with iso (atleast you can on the a7sii with it's insane iso). learning the wrong focus direction can really stuff up your manual focusing later on. other than the focus ring I think the tamron is better, but for video work both manual focus and autofocus on the sigma is better

Jordan, where's the video review on these lenses too? =>
Great video and the comment on the tamron´s primes made me remmember I want a tamron 85mm VC for my canon SL1. Have you considered sponsoring a colombian hobbyist? Greetings from Colombia.
Which one runs better on an adaptor on a sony camera?
Well this was pretty timely for me. Just bought a full frame Canon body and the widest lens I have for it is 50mm. Think I'm gonna go with the Tamron.
i have the tamron and i have to say its an amazing lens. sharp, fast and feels solid. the only thing left to find out about i feel like would be the durability

I'm using the nikon d5600. If anyone has used this lens on d5600 before. Could you tell me if it was worth the money ?
If only there was a way to objectively use reliability statistics as well. Just like you can find out which car is more or less reliable. It surely must be factored in. So you buy a lens for 40% less than a Canon/Nikon but then spend weeks & dollars getting it calibrated/repaired/replaced. What's that worth?
is there anyone who test this lens on Z6? is the performance as same as as on nikon dslr's?
4:43 to 5:37 Pretty awesome walking shot 👌🏼
Why Nikon 2470mm vr2 is not as good as tamron or sigma 2470mm? Judging from the length of the lens barrel
I had the first version of the Tamron, and my biggest gripe about it was that the VR mechanism was very noisy. Better now?

Haha. At exactly 3 minutes, I thought that was Martina Navratilova sneaking up behind you, Chris.
Great hands on review! I've got the Sigma and it's rather hard to believe its OS outperforms Tamron's VC. I personally feel a little bit let down by Sigma's overall performance especially it's wearing the Art series badge but for the money I couldn't ask for more. As a Nikon shooter I don't think the Nikon counterpart lens is worth the price difference.
@wallstreetoneil

Sigma's OS on their 24-105 is incredible so it isn't necessarily an incorrect observation. With the Dustin Abbott review, my guess is that each lens might actually be superior at different shutter speeds. - but on net they are similar. I did have a bad Tamron 45 VC stabilizer and when switched for a new unit it was excellent. On weight, weather sealing and extreme corner sharpness, the Tamron seems to be the slight winner - on micro contrast, the Sigma seems better.

Seems KZread unsubbed me without asking. I re-subbed and I'm looking forward to seeing your videos in my sub-box again. Anyways I'm a bit partial to the Tamron. Saving on weight becomes worth it if you do it across a full backpack that you have to wear a whole day. Wooorth it! Especially when it holds its own against the competition.
For the prime , i love Art series but when it's come with Fast Zoom lenses , Tamron has always been my first choice :D :D I can not wait to pick The G2

Someone I am not getting almost any stabilization in my Sigma Art 24-70 in a Z7... I think fstoppers also found the stabilization in the sigma being very weak.
