Put your bets in! Which one is the sharpest?
At some time I've owned everyone of those lenses. (I know I have a problem). All of them are very good. In some settings/conditions each of them will look sharper than the other. So it comes down to your individual needs and photography habits. A lot of my photography is walking in the woods, or the lake or an event and taking photos. I got tired of carrying around a 24-70 and a 70-180. When I looked at my most used focal ranges it's 30-170, give or take a MM here and there. So for me the 35-150 is perfect and the lens is really sharp throughout the range.

Awesome review! It really helped me! thank you!
Thank you Exactly what I was looking for !
Brilliant! I think this was the video we were all waiting for! I would have loved to see the tamron 28-200 thrown into this mix as well. I know it would be last, but by how much.
Thanks for comparing these lenses. I was definitely curious to know how they all compared.
very helpful, thank you!
The video we needed!!!!!!!
Nice Test. Thanks.
Fascinating. Thanks for doing this! Would love to see you next compare the bokeh! Rumors that Sigma generally creamier than Tamron but I think Tamron is catching up!
Good One Bro..Amazing lences..expecting wildlife telephoto lences review
would love to see an update with the samyang 35-150mm
35-150 is a great range for fashion to portret. But I will wait for a more price friendly Sony F4 version as a mostly work at 5.6-8 in the studio.
Thank you for this review, do you Know if dust is still a problem with the sigma ?
Thanks for this useful and thorough review. Personally I’d find more value in comparing them at identical focal lengths where applicable such as 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm and 150mm for more of a oranges to oranges comparison. Nonetheless, I found it insightful in making my buying decision for a midrange zoom. Decided to keep my just acquired T 28-75 G2 after briefly owning the Sigma 28-75 and over three years with the T 28-75 G1. The minor advantages with the Sigma don’t make it worth its extra weight in my case as I already own primes for when I need the ultimate in sharpness and separation. BTW- as someone else posted I agree with them that there is no need to wait for the T 70-180 G2 since the current version is outstanding and light weight.

which is better between T 28-75 G2 vs Sigma 24-70 art?
That was a great review! | would like to ask you which should i buy? Tamron 36-150 f/2 - 2,8 or should i pick sigma 24-70 f/2,8? Both are great lenses i know that but it's also both too expensive. With tamron i take advantage the low range of 35 and also the beast range of 150 but with sigma i have something more standard with 24 to 70 where i cover the low range of 24. I want it for travelling.I have the Sony A7 II. Thank you
I was going to go with the 35-150 but I have the 20-40mm and tamron 150-500 so I want a bit of a in between lens so I'm stuck between the 28-75 G2 and the 70-180 G2. So lost on what I go with. I am starting to make more doing portrait. Just lost on where I should go on it lol.
all lenses are sharp and nice to have, it is really hard to know the difference of all especially if you do blind test nice comparison of them stefan mailoch
would like to compare the sharpness in the middle of the zoom range
so its confirmed even the mentioned newer serial models of the sigma with 55641775 and above still has dust issue? Can anyone confirm this?
Thank you! Very informative! Could you possibly compare the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 Sony version to the 35-150 f 2.8-4 Canon version? 😁

Unfortunately, that's probably not a pair I will get to compare. The Tamron should be quite a bit better.
A couple of things here: First there can be a difference in the copies tested here and someone else's copy. Secondly, I do quite a few outdoor events and I'm already giving up 20mm on the long end of the 70-180. I sure don't want to give up 50mm on the long end...that's just too much. I do have a 100-400mm lens but it's not as fast a lens. So for me, I like the setup of the Tamron 28-75 and 70-180 better. I have more reach on both ends, but, especially the long end. Yes, it's two lenses instead of one, but the weight is also a lot less (with the two lenses), when holding up the camera during a long day. I could maybe see it benefiting a wedding photographer more however to use the 35-150. I know it's a novel lens right now, so is all the rage, but I don't always follow the crowd in these decisions. Covering 28-180 in two light lenses works out great for me. Everyone has different needs, wants and objectives, so their lens selections will be different. I don't think there is a right or wrong here...they are all great lenses.
I would love a 35 to 85 f2.
Hi Stefan, I’ve now watched this video 4 times, I’ve just sold my Sony 24-105mm f/4, I was going to purchase the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 Art “but” now there’s a new kid on the block the Samyang/Rokinon 24-70mm f/2.8. Do you have any plans on doing a comparison between the Sigma and Samyang? Please help me out, Regards William

I know things are tough in Korea right now so any Samyang lens reviews I do might be a little delayed. The next one will be the 135mm F1.8 which I'm pretty excited about. You're splitting hairs with these lenses though. They are all fantastic options!
Sigmas contrast is amazing ...black dark like hell :)
The color fringing on the 35-150 is *so bad* on the horizontal black line at the bottom of the red band (3:02). When you discuss the differences in color fringing your mouse is at the edge of the black-white fan shape.
Wow, Sigma 24-70 Art
These lenses must vary a lot from copy to copy. The Sigma lens is soft in the corners in other reviews I've watched. The Tamron G2 could be the same, I haven't watched any reviews of that lens.
35-150 looks like an interesting lens. Would you recommend on APS-C (a6600), as it basically becomes 53-230 ? Can't find one review of it on crop sensor camera.

I’m thinking of getting the 35-150 and sometimes use my camera in APS-C mode for the extra length. That way I can drop my 70-180. It will reduce the number of pixels and focus points…
@networm64

For apsc the 70-180 is way better considering it's price and specially the weight and bulk. But if money is not an object then better to consider the new 70-200 f2.8 GM ii which is a gem indeed. This 35-150 is a great focal in FF. But in apsc won't be wide enough for many situations and you have to consider a wider zoom in combination. A 24-105 lens will give you the same range in apsc though.
@StefanMalloch

If you plan to upgrade to a full frame eventually maybe but not just for aps-c imo.
I would LOOOOOVE to see a comparison between the new Sony 70-200 vs the 35-150 …. Those are the two I’m hard split between

As a Allrounder, the tamron surely would be better. But as a telephoto zoom, the Sony would easily destroy the tamron.
@VinceDae

@@celestial_78 not from the time I had with them (although it was not long) - it seemed like the Tamron was superior in every way except a little slower AF (but still blazing fast) and 50 min less tight at the end. But 35 mm wider on the other end :p

@Max same here ! I actually shoot more family, and street than actually events and weddings because that’s my part time. But I guess that’s something you can only know once you test it out for a few weeks. Like I don’t mind a little bit of weight, I would just put a camera strap to make it easier. But you can’t really know unless you try it out. The good thing is that most places you buy it, you can return it if you don’t like it. So that’s good ! And your English is great! My English is not the best neither “Spanish here”!

Put it this way, it hasn't left my camera since I got it. I'm one that hates changing lenses so if one can do it all, which this one can just about do.. its a win for me. If needed pick up a 16-35 or equivalent and you're covered.

@Aporo the older Sony 70-200 weighs more than the 35-150 by quite a bit. So you’d rather carry a 24-70 and a 70-200 rather than just use one lens that would weigh half of the other two combined?
@rubelukeable
2 жыл бұрын
@Aporo Hey I am right with you on this debate. Love the lens, but would rather walk around with a smaller 24-70. Just thought that I could use one lens for almost every scenario except wide angle shots. I pre-ordered the new 24-70 GMII shipping tomorrow. We will see if I keep the Tamron. Thanks for the response.
I have Sigma and T35-150, while 24mm is welcome, overall IQ I feel is better from T35-150. Issues I have with them- Sigma is lacking good Lightroom profile, vignette removal looks somewhat unnatural, however T35-150 loses light with the range, even though it's F2.8,it looks more like F4 in terms of light capture.
Good comparison video. Well worth to watch. I picked the 28-75mmG2 because of its light weight. 70-180mm will be my next lens to buy, but NOT until Tamron released the G2 version. Sigma 24-70mm was my initial preferred until the 28-75mmG2 came out. The 35-150mm is an excellent lens but it's too fat for me, not for my situation. Thank you for making this video. Thumb up.

I own both the 16-35 GM and the 24-70 GM, but I love the Tamron 70-180 f2.8 better than both. Yeah, I know the focal length is way different but the 70-180 is fast, sharp and acquires autofocus quickly. It’s also lighter than the 24-70 GM and so much smaller than the current crop of 70-200’s. Just a brilliant lens, I don’t know if you need to wait.

I already wish the Tamron went to 200mm, so the 70-180 works fine for me. I sure wouldn't want to give up 50mm when shooting on the long end. I do Event photography, and often outside with sports I need a least the 180mm reach. In a lot of cases 50mm is too short.
I like how this sounds like a horse race :-)
Thank you for this, bro! I didn't realize that Tamron has stepped up their game to surpass Sigma. WOW!!! I am a Sigma man but I'd be a fool if I did not pick up a 35-150mm at this point. Love it!!
I appreciate the video, but why say they have no business being compared? It's actually frustrating the reviewers keep comparing the same lenses, lol. If you're considering getting the 35-150 OR the 24-70 sigma and 70-180 Tamron (like I am), this is an important comparison.
it was the 35-150 which convinced me to sell my canon RF gear and switch to sony.
