TAMRON 28-200mm Super Zoom Lens - I can't let go of it!
In this video, I go and explore the danish landscapes for some winter photography and I bring out my Tamron 28-200 lens. I just can't seem to let go of it even though I have bought the Tamron 50-400mm zoom lens. I share my thoughts on the 28-200 and why I keep using it along with taking some landscape and forest photos.

#4 stands out as my favorite. So peaceful, I can almost see myself in the scene.
I got 28-75, 35-150, every single time I go out, family trip, the zoo, parks, etc with the kids I take my 28-200, it is so good, and much more versatile than the other two.If tamron come out with a G2 with VC I'll preorder it without a thought
28-200 an absolute BEAST of a lens! 💪
Hello Mads! Of the four forest scenes, all are beautiful but I think #4 is far and away the best of the group. Love it!
Image #4 checks all the boxes for me, Mads. I really enjoy you videos and the insights you provide when it comes to landscape photography. Thanks….. and keep them coming!
I Love #4. It perfectly captures that moment in time.
Photo number 4. So serene
#4 is by far magical...Love it.
The Danish landscape is spectacular. I really am in love with #4. What an incredible shot that takes my breath away.
#4 - love the mystery and clean lines of the trees!
Number 4 for me as it has that nice contrast between the trees and the snow! The lighting is softer as well, which provides a more calm mood.
I bought this 28-200 lens a couple years ago. Solely based on your advice in an earlier video about the lens. I couldn`t be happier. Even with 28mm shots, and f.ex Topas sharpening, it`s as tack sharp as I ever need :) Thank`s Mads!
It's a great lens! Love mine!
More great photos and info! I like photo #1. Thanks for taking me along!
Always interesting and informative, thanks for the great channel Mads. 👍
Just love that lone tree image with the tractor tyre leading the viewer to the tree. Amazing, thanks for sharing Mads.
I like the lone tree with the tractor tracks in the snow at 2:28. I also liked how there are sets of angular lines in the composition at 4:54.
I agree with this take. That lens is so convenient
My favorite shot is actually the one with the horses. Then the lone tree with the tractor tracks in the snow at about 2:28. Next would be the tree with the hoarfrost. Super video. Thank you so much.
#4 is stunning!!
I think I like your second shot with the additional snow at 13:30 It just looks so fresh.
#4 is my favorite !
All of them are beautiful, but definitely #4 is my favorite
They are all beautiful but #4 is my favorite! 👍💕
#4 for sure!
Mads, Your videos and photos convinced me to pickup this 28-200. It’s amazingly versatile and works great for landscape photos. I still take my primes and teles, but there is only minor downsides with the Tamron. Thank you. I wouldn’t have considered this had it not been for your videos. My back thanks you too on my multi day backcountry trips.
#4 is so beautiful.
Mads, outstanding forest scenes. I especially like 1 and 3.
Just bought this lens bc of your videos. Thank you!
#4 28-200 my go to lens❤️
# 3 was my favorite. Looks like a really nice travel lens!
Ordered my 28-200 last week, and anxiously waiting for its arrival! 😅
Many thanks Mads for your review. I would never have bought a "travel zoom" otherwise I have now tested it for 10 days on Madeira and am totally thrilled 🙌
My favorite photo is No. 4, by far. Cool video and total suite of images.
Wow, number 4 for me Mads.
I like all of your photos!!!! #4
This lens is a brilliant lens for travel photography. I have just returned from a 3 week adventure in SE Asia and have used solely this lens. People, wildlife, landscapes you name it I have done it with this lens.
Number 4 . We have new snow now but gray skies & I cannot get any photos with effect but you can. Thanks Mads.
My favorite travel lens
I’ve used Tamron 18-400 zoom on Nikon D500 for 3 years. Really remarkable versatility, auto focus works very well on fast action, vibration control in combo with camera is quite good, I’m a frequent shooter for assignments, stock and gather images for arts. Thoroughly happy with this combo.

I've used this combo for the past year, focusing on wildlife. Great results. Thank you for posting.
The timing of this video 😂 I'm currently losing my mind over whether to take the Tamron 28-200mm or the 50-400mm alongside my 16-35mm to NZ in 2 weeks. Thanks for the nudge in the 'lighter' direction! And as always: absolutely wonderful photography! Love your work, Mads.
6:51 I love how you regularly manage to make the world look otherworldly! :)
No-brainer this time. Nr. 4!
28-200 is my all-time fav lens. I’ve sold and rebought it two-times already, but don’t see myself letting it go again. I’d love to try the 50-400, but it’s too large to be my #1 lens.
Hello Mads! All photos are beautiful but I think N1
I would be proud to have all of them in my portfolio. To me #4 is really great.
1 & 4 best in mo :). I just purchased 100-400 after 25 years of using wide and normal lenses :), inspired by your videos!
I'm really impressed, having spent time down in Lolland, it's not the most inspiring of landscapes out there either, a true pro to get the best out of it! I've got the Tamron 18-300 which I'm taking no Norway next week, hoping to get some great shots from it, I know it's not the best lens out there, but for versatility, it's got my vote!
For the forest photographs I liked the beech forest. I found it cleaner, simpler, minimalist and a better overall aura. Fo the lone tree I agree with you. I think the hoarfrost image was much more pleasing. As you noted the fog helped the tree stand out. In the two snow photographs the tree is lost in the surrounding landscape. I agree with you a heavy snow makes for better photographs. With so much growth still protruding through the snow a scene often looks messier than without the snow. I was frustrated by that recently with some photos I've taken along a breakwater in Lake Michigan. The scene with the snow and ice blanketing the rocks of the breakwater was beautiful but all the sand that the waves coated the ice and snow with made the photos look so dirty and messy. I enjoyed your photographs.
Hi Mass you are not a photographer you are a composer ! I am always surprised how you can just by your composition transform a banal landscape in an awesome picture … you are a magician. I am also happy you show that we can do very good pictures without a very high priced lens. Here you use a 28-200 which is rather a lens for family and travel (to avoid carrying different lenses ) and I am also sure that with a simple A7ii the pictures would have been equally good. Landscape is a discipline where hardware is not very important , but the guy behind the hardware is. Thanks for that.
Beatiful, I hope we get some more snow so I can get out and take some more photos from this season :)
The choice is really difficult .... anyway my favourite photos are nr. 2,3 and 4 .... you did a great work with all of them 💯🔝👍👏👏👏
Without a doubt, photo number 4 is the one that deserves the most votes!
The beech at 4 is class
Don’t know why you had doubts about the shot with the horses. Beautiful landscape and composition with those layers of diagonal lines. My favorite of the shots.
Amazing timing, I've been looking for exactly this type of lens and even this one specifically. So many mixed reviews but very little actual videos of it in use. 👍

I use this lens for dog photographs and as the only lens I take for walks. I've been very happy with the results. The only issue I've found is there is no lens correction profile in Affinity photo v1.
Photo Number 4 as well!
I always enjoy your happy refreshing videos. I like the sunrise behind the tree photo composition in particular, but the forest photos are great as well. FYI, my new light weight travel camera lens combo is the Canon R7 1.6 crop sensor body with two kit lenses; the Canon rf-s 18-150mm f/3.5 - 6.3 stm IS (29-240 equiv), and the Canon rf-s 10-18mm f/4.5 -6.3 stm IS (16-29 equiv). Obviously, the 150mm (240 equiv) on the long end with a crop sensor camera provides even more telephoto reach than the Tamron, and is much lighter and more compact than the Tamron setup on a full frame sensor camera. If weght and size are not an issue, then I take my R5 with Canon ef 16-35 f/4L IS, Tamron ef 35-150 f/2.8 - 4 IS, and Canon 100-500 L lens.
Great Video!😊
Of the 4 photos, I, too, like #4 the best. All are gorgeous, but the 4th kept drawing me in.
Your opinion regarding the Tamron 28-200 inspired me to purchase and pair this lens with my Sony a7 CR. I love this combo and feel I now have the perfect ultra lightweight full frame travel gear. Thanks!
Hello Mads, very nice landscapes you captured, near to where you live. I like photo 4 the most. And the second comparison of the lonely tree photo 3, though I like the other photo's because of the well captured mood. I share your enthusiasm for your 28-200 mm: in my case a Nikon Z6 and a 24-200 f 4-6.3, which also works with VR and in camera VR. It is super light weigt and I like the results. Thanks for sharing your thougst and experiences, Bert.
I like #2. I think the vertical composition works well with a stand of trees like that since trees are tall and skinny.
#4 for me very mysterious
Carrying one or two lenses has changed the way I shoot. I used to carry a bunch of lenses (not too many, but maybe 5-6) and that was too much. In some cases, it almost paralyzes you as to which lens to you since you have so many options, but with fewer lenses (say a wide angle zoom and a travel zoom) those are you two options and give totally different looks, so you're more focused on getting/making compositions than you are on gear). This is NOT to say I don't necessarily bring the other lenses, but I don't always (usually) carry them with me (I mainly bring them as backups, like my 24-70 2.8, but I prefer to shoot with my 24-120 f/4 lens since it's lighter and covers more range - and since I'm mostly shooting landscapes, so f/5.6 or smaller apertures, in most cases, this lens works great for that and really covers almost the same range as a 24-70 and a 70-200 or 70-180, a bit short though but I haven't found too many instances where I missed stuff beyond 120mm.)
I like 4 best, simplest, most dramatic, most pleasing
# 2 photo's got my attention.
I like the #1 image. To me it is more of a natural forest than one with trees that look like they have been planted by humans in a straight line. At Yellowstone I have found trees that can be lined up to show a straight line, but two, or even three rows of lined up trees to me is planted trees. That said, I do like all four photos, You always do a wonderful job!
just got one !!!
Hi Mads ! 'Only' a lone tree. But a great picture with the tracks and the clouds! I like foto 4 the most, maybe because of the smooth tree trunks.
@MadsPeterIversen

Hehe yeah, 'only' ;) it's a beautiful one, gotta get back during summer for sure!
I have the 28-200, when hiking I just take that and the 17-28, 2 really light lenses with good enough image quality, makes my hiking kit a lot lighter 👍 can't really fault it for landscapes
I have a 18-200mm canon lens that I love, sure I would love if it had better quality and less weight, but I still love it. Of the four photos I liked 4, 3, 2 and 1. 👋🏻
It’s certainly a great lens in combo with a high res Sony body, I pack a lightweight ultra wide prime for a very light & compact two lens backpacking kit.
We have a storm coming this week. I love the fog and trees. My favorite. LOL to the loan tree comments.
(Not having watched the video fully yet) Same, it‘s really the INCREDIBLE versitility of this lens. If I had to bring only 2 light lenses to cover a large range, I‘d go with this one and the sigma 16-28 to close of that gap.
@MadsPeterIversen

Yes! If I wanna go light, I bring my 16-35mm f/4 pz lens and the 28-200 :)
For me personally, number 4 was my favourite Mads as the contrast and simplicity of the scene was extremely pleasing to the eye. I've been looking at the Canon 24-240mm RF lens as I like the range it offers but im yet to be convinced of its overall quality. I currently have the 24-105mm RF L and now considering the 100-500 RF L as an option for dropping to 2 lenses when Im not taking out tilt shifts
@MadsPeterIversen
5 ай бұрын
Those two lenses ought to go very well together!
No. 4 No. 4 No. 4
As usual GREAT video and photos! How would you compare the Tamron 70-300 with the 2 lens?
#4 by far 😊
I had the 28-200 for several months but it was never true love. Excellent focal range, light but I didn't feel comfortable. I was not satisfied with the sharpness. Sin! In any case, I always follow your videos with interest. Thank you!
Great shots!! This lens should be update as it's brothers, we'll see what tamron puts in the G2 version.
@MadsPeterIversen
5 ай бұрын
That would be great! If they can fix the issues of the fringing, especially in the wide area and the blue'ish vignette, it's nearly the perfect lens 😁
I agree with other people that all four are good, but my wife and I both think that #4 is the standout. As for the shot with horses in the background, you are always mentioning that the photo should tell a story. For me, the story is the snowy countryside in Denmark. Liked the tree with the hoar frost, too.
photo 4 and this lens is just great…
I have always felt the stabilization on the 50-400mm is worse than on other 100-400mm lenses. But I use it 95% of time on tripod anyway and extended range is useful to me so I can bring just two lenses on a trip (the other is 16-35 PZ).
Well at the risk of being kicked out of the Mads fan club, I quite like the only photo without fog... the lighting in #1 is pleasing to me and I like the contrast. :)
Nice photo, lonely tree🌳
Nr. 4
Great video Mads, random question I own the Tamron 35-150mm lens which although is heavy I absolutely love it and stays on my Sony 90% of the time. Have you tried this lens previously as I find it strikes a nice balance of shots. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Great talk on the Tamron 28 200, looking at replacing my 100 400 Gm as Wildlife not so much part of me now, more the longer Landscapes, But have you tried the new Sony 70 200 Fe Macro which is getting rave review, would be keen to hear your thoughts.
Hey Mads, Can you share you insights on the L barcket you are using, many have complained that there is a psooibility of shake when you try long exposure or during high winds.
While I like both 3 and 4, 4 is just cleaner, while in 3 the branches offer some distractions. As far as the 28-200, I have the Nikon 24-200 and does make for a nice one lens travel choice.
#4 is a very strong image however cropping a bit from the bottom to eliminate the excessive bright space which I find a distraction improves the scene to my eye significantly
#4 is more magic!
Hi, Thank you for the nice video. What camera and lens you use to record this video (recording yourself) is it tamron 28-200?
Conditions in the photos around 6:30 are what I hope for with every snow storm here in winter. There was foggy snow on the forecast around midnight this morning... If only it happened during daylight.
Great Video!😊 Which tripod collar is there on Tamron 50-400?

I bought a tripod collar on ebay for the tamron 100-400 lens which with one layer of gaffer tape on the inside fitted perfectly on the 50-400. Mine cost £45 but I see now some models are going for £20.
I would vote for 3(at 15:24)...it's the best of the 3, but not such a great image as it gets somewhat lost in the background, also the forground is somewhat dominant. Specimen objects need to be viewed in isolation. Like all art, my opinion is subjective!! The single tree in the field is my choice!!
I leave the same question I posted in another video here. It seems more appropriate to ask this question in this video: Does this lens work well on APSC cameras such as the Sony Zve10? Thanks
@MadsPeterIversen

I guess so, you won't see the weaker parts of it (the edges). Just make sure to remember it's designed for FF and there's a crop-factor.
4😊
A lens suitable for landscape photography.
