Tamiya Super Clod Buster Goes Swimming!!!!

I hope you enjoy this quick video (nothing on this truck is water proof)
I have done this years ago (1991 or 1992)... And never did it again until now.
I forgot to spray the whole chassis (inside and out) with WD40, gear boxes too. WD40 will save you rusted hardware and it displaces water...
Clods (Bullheads) do float but they don't turn very well in water.
The key to get them to stay afloat is, seal the tires to the wheels really good & COVER THE VENT HOLE in the wheels...
*******THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED!!!*********
This water smells so bad like Fat Bastard really did leave a floater here..
I did go home and rinsed the truck off for 5 mins (It still needs more, the smell, the smell..........)
Hope you liked this little outing the Clod & I had as this is the last (and first) time it is going swimming.. Unless I get a pool (won't happen, never again, talk about money pits).

It's a very smelly Clod now... I did go home and drop her in the tub and hosed it down. That water was nasty (I think Fat Bastard really did leave a floater in there).

I knew, way back in 1989 or 90... Seen it in a magazine (back when RCCA was GOOD), then I tried it myself.. learned that the tires needed to be sealed good or they fill up with water and the truck sinks.... Pointed the truck to the shallow end then it just went on its own.. No water proof electrics back then and MSC.... Yup, I got wet a few times fishing the truck from the depths.. LOL

For sure man, that's where the idea came from. I did the same thing back in 1990 give or take... But, if the tires are not sealed, it will sink in a minute or 2, back then, no such thing as water proof electrics.

Well glued tires & plug the vent holes in the wheels... First time I seen this was in 1989 maybe... I did it cause I always talked about them floating and I wanted to show Mark (he's the guy I was telling this to). Do I recommend doing it, NO.. Any leak in 2 wheels/tires and it goes down like 10 dollar whore on payday...

Hiya John, There was some geese with goslings when I got there.. Birds of a feather, right? I thought I was going to go in and get the truck at one point (very early on), the water seemed to have a bit of a current. This was in part of the Eire (Barge) Canal system (Lock 29) @ 5 mins from home. I still had fun but the water was stinky and so was my truck. LOL ATB to You & Yours!!!

Dude, I found this out back in 1990 (give or take a year or 2). I also found out that, if the tires fill with water, you might be getting wet. This was at (near) the Erie Canal Lock #29. The water smelled so bad and the truck even worse when I was done.. Really mad at myself for forgetting the WD40.

Brother, I did this years ago and found out fast that if the vent holes are not covered, the tires/wheels fill up with water and it sinks... Back then, there wasn't water proof electrics for RC. Cool, I didn't know a Lunchbox could float, that's awesome, a quick swim to get mud off, I shall remember this. ATB dude, stay safe & stay healthy. PS, I cut sugar out of my diet...

Hi, I used an old Duratrax IntelliSpeed 8T esc (no longer made) and It Is Not Water Proof with stock kit 540 motors.. The battery I used was a Gartpot 4000mAh 50c 2S lipo.. Truck does need some prep work to float like making sure tires are very well glued and plugging the vent holes in the wheels...
