So after I made this video and watched it back, I couldn’t help but think I’d like to go back to the track with the MB, but next time run it with the Super Stock BZ motor? I felt it just needed a little more Oomph 🤷🏼‍♂️

Magical mate!! Such a cool looking tamiya and big fun! I remember seeing the MB for the first time back in the day and it was really decent around the track considering it was a Monster but it was mostly up against the Lunchbox and Pumpkins so it did not have to try too much to look good lol those two are just bonkers anywhere you drive them! All have the 3rd shock mod. One has an Ansmann 21 turn motor in it, the other 2 have Sport Tuneds. One is the Rolling Thunder scheme - the real monster van which was the inspiration for Tamiya I believe (stickers from ebay), one is done up like Scooby Doo's Mystery Machine (stickers from ebay) and the third is done in green with Zombie Outbreak Response Team (again, stickers from ebay). @@stevew4632 Instead of relying on the little wire springs (which easily break) at the transmission and axle pivot point on the chassis pan you also install a small oil filled shock in the centre of that pivot. 3rd shock see? It makes the van wheelie better and more controlled because the axle doesn't slam upwards as violently. Google it for install video and hopefully a better explanation 😆 Cheers

Awesome. My MB has got a HW brushless in it, ~13T from memory. It goes well. Haven't had the diff issues some have had. What servo saver do you have in yours? I use a Kimborough, the kit one was trash. Probably the most fun RC car ever made. Enjoyed the vid Glenn.

i d like to see this beetle on tamiya 801x/xt chasiss but its look like tamiya doesnt have interest in 1/8 models. I mean, this is all fine but this is not a basher, cmon tamixa, give us some bad ass 1/8 electric monster. Great video as always mate, put some sock on that mic :)

That's the most planted of all the buggies you've taken down there so far. They really got the weight distribution spot on when they designed this back in the day. Not sure how much benefit you'll get from more speed...could mean more wheel spin and trickier handling. Only one way to find out...

What's the difference between this one and the original? At its peak, Tamiya used metal for the core mechanicals and structure in its high-end units. Has it replaced most of these components with plastic parts?

Problem I had with mine was the huge , heavy and floppy fron wheels so steering is unpredictable ,espcially on rebound ! anyone ?? Mine was called "Desert Storm" and was painted in the chocolate-chip camo worn by US soldiers at the time . Unfortunately I don't have digital photos of it .

It is funny that you said that you did not really like the Monster Beetle. I felt the same way and got the Blackfoot. The Blackfoot was cheaper but it did not have oil filled shocks. Of course I am talking about the original cars. Today they both have oil filled shocks. Of course the original half shafts were terrible. The new Blackfoot and Monster Beetle have dog bones which work much better than the original Tamiya half shafts. Thoughts?

For me it was 100% down to looks only, I was always a Blackfoot guy back in the day. I always looked at the MB as an impostor lol 😂 Even when the MB re re came out I bought one straight away, but I still didn’t love it 🤷🏼‍♂️ But now a couple of years later I get another one and low and behold I now love the thing 😍. It’s really interesting to see how my interests in Tamiya change to different things as the years go on my friend 👊🏻
