    I'd never seen one in real life either until this one. Well not a built one, I saw them in shops back in the day. I think they maybe weren't very popular. I've always thought they look pretty cool. Haha, it was all coming back to me... How damn annoying those long antennas were! 😂👍

    Love the video. I sold one about 6 months ago for peanuts. Wish I knew, I would have donated to you. Chassis was mint. Couldn't find a body for it for a reasonable price.

    Thanks mate! Oh no, that would have been cool. Always the way mate, I bet when I finish this one there will be a bunch of new chassis on eBay the day after lol. The prices are crazy, even the Monteros kits and parts tripled in price for a while. I got lucky when I found my kits. 👍

    When Tamiya released the Montero Wheelie on the lunchbox chassis they used 2 body posts on the front instead of the awkward clip. I did this for my original Pajero, Tony’s Tamiya has the parts. Just need bag 9415516 and a chassis!

    Thanks for the info. I'll try to keep this one as standard as possible, as bad as that front clip is. I really doubt I'll really drive it much anyway as I have the two Monteros but thanks for the tip, much appreciated! 🙂👍

    They're pretty cool I think. I remember there being a new one in a shop back in 1991, must have been old stock. Should have bought it! lol They're basically a Grasshopper with a different chassis and body, gearbox and suspension is all Grasshopper. I think you need one for TL Arena! 😂👍

    Definitely one of my favourites! I absolutely love the tamiya promo vid of this model it looks fantastic in that vid! I had one several years back it was rough and ready looking and ran it hard just like people do with Lunchboxs now! It was awesome on the beach really long wheelies on the damp sand and it took a beaten! Great fun! I made different front body mounts though mate that plastic clip thing had no chance! I am on the look out for one again but one that's a bit prettier looking then my old one so l can display it! Nice one Mick you have a fun one there! Look forward to seeing the end result! Mate yeah l know you have seen them all before but take a look at the tamiya promo vid of the Pajero lol it will definitely get you smiling! Cheers buddy.

    Mine too mate. I never had one but always wanted one, they just look so cool. The newer Montero look OK, but I don't really like the big wheels on it. The original looks more like the real thing. I have two of the Monteros now which I found quite cheap when looking for this one, so had to have them. I plan to build one of those with the big wheels and one with the Brat wheels. Oh yeah the promo video looks awesome, even all these years later. Just watched it again now! Sooo cool! 😁 Yeah I don't have much faith in the front body clip but will try to keep it as standard as possible. I only plan to putt around around with it, nothing too crazy. Famous last words ay lol. Shouldn't take too long to get it done, then time for action! 😁. Cheer mate! 👍

    My God! That old beauty bring me a lot of memories. That is one of the things that Tamiya alongside with Kyosho have and that no other recently created company can offer; A before and after in the world of RC, nostalgia and these sweet memories. Once again, great video sir, thank you very much! Postscript: I'm trying to restore my Tamiya Street Devil, but it turns out to be more complicated than I expected.

    The HBX 1/18 shocks may fit these kit nicely. I'm using it for my lunchbox and they are good replacement from the original friction damper. Cheap as well🙂

    I think I have some new Grasshopper shocks I can use for this one (as bad as they are lol) so it will still look standard. I may steal your idea for one of the Monteros when I build them though. As you said, they're much better than the original dampers. 👍

    Think that esc is a 1040 hobbywing unit from like hsp or similar brand that buys them in bulk, they don't sell them retail with their name on them but the name of them is certainly similar enough being called wp1040 esc on ebay & places like that. Should manage lipo batteries with moving a jumper on the esc there & motors it should handle down too 15t on 2s lipo i believe. I'd keep the old wheels just too maybe experiment with plasti dip on those or painting details on them like a red stripe on the outer lip of the rim. Could probably add some small piece of aluminium instead of the front plastic piece that extends into a skidplate on there.

  • @RCHobbyShed

    @RCHobbyShed

    Yeah pretty much the same, this one is the BDESC-S10E-RTR. Very similar specs, certainly good enough for this old beast. Actually, I might even save this one for another car and use one of the TBLE-02S esc's I have laying around since I only plan to cruise around with it. Correct, it has jumpers for LiPo/Nimh battery choices. Oh yeah, I'll keep the wheels. If it's not broken I keep them, and sometime I keep broken stuff lol. I will probably use aluminium for the front, although I may put it on the inside. Just so it looks original from the outside. Great idea though! 👍

    Haha yeah, I think I have enough new Grasshopper parts in my stash to do it. It's good because the parts I need for this are usually the ones you either don't use or take off a Grasshopper while upgrading lol. Yeah the chassis is the biggest issue. Will have to patch a couple of bits up which I hope don't look too dodgy when done. 👍

    Interesting Mick. I had always thought that the chassis on that was the same as the top half of a Lunchbox but obviously not. With the ESC on the top where is was at the start of the video, where would the battery have gone? Is there a space underneath? The Lunchbox obviously has that extra layer to the chassis where the battery goes. Good luck with the resto mate :-)

  • @RCHobbyShed

    @RCHobbyShed

    Thanks Pete. Yeah mate the Pajero chassis is unique. No mate, unlike the Lunch Box there's no space for the battery in the bottom. I'm guessing because the receiver and ESC were moved up the top, they were running a small LiPo in the bottom where the MSC and receiver were. There's plenty of room for a 2s LiPo of around 1300mah. Maybe their idea was to limit the wheelies 🤷‍♂️. Cheers mate! 👍
