Tamiya DF-03ra - Datsun 240Z - new drive-train 4600kV brushless (Datsun 240Z adventures #7)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

First offroad experience after installing a new esc/motor-combo: the waterproof Castle Creations sidewinder 3 with 4600kV.
I am very satisfied with that combo, motor stays absolutely cool and the esc too, even though it's dust covered without cooling.
Some scenes appear like fast forwarded, but it's the real speed...
Only disadvantage of this combo is, that the sensorless system is not very accurate to control in very slow speed (very smooth starts are impossible). But for an offroad race machine as my Datsun is, it doesn't matter at all ;-)
Unfortunately the body shell got some non repairable hits, may I should build a new one?!

Brilliant! I love the paint on the body, the way the car goes and handles, and the mixture of shots you used to give us the impression of tremendous speed coupled with elegant control...

Great video. I've been running my DF-03RA [Lancia Delta Integrale] with a 9t EzRUN combo for almost 7 years without any dramas. I fitted the slipper clutch upgrade but its more a precaution than a necessity. The only negative about this kit is the battery compartment restricts you to stick pack style LiPos and the fact you have to mash / bendthe battery leads a bit to get them to fit.

it's all controlled by modules purchased at cti-modellbau.de. Reverse & breaking lights are controlled by module "PS2BR". Main lights, signal lights and emergeny lights are controlled by module "PS4BU" by use of a 3rd channel.

I love what you did to "repair" the grill. Are you still playing with this car? Your build fires my imagination, I imagine a simple one bar pipe bumper in front. And some patches here and there, repairs, a little primer over some of the rust. A "freshening up" ready for more action. Now, I'm not suggesting anything, as it's your car and I bet you have it just the way you like it, please don't take this as any kind of negative comment. Anyway, really cool car and great videography, thanks for sharing these videos.

How exactly did you fit a brushless into the DF-03 chassis? I'm trying with mine but I have to grind material and I have no idea where to grind.

What are the shocks? Are they Tamiya std cva oil shocks? And are they threaded for quick adjustments? And are the springs soft, hard? Please be specific. I have the XB version of this car. Its on a TT01 chassis. Unfortunately the shocks are friction only and the springs are too stiff. So the ride is terribly bumpy when offroad. Looking for softer oil shocks. Not sure what exactly to get. I'm using Kyosho rally blocks. Love the 240z!

yes, this are the stock CVA oil shocks what came with the kit. hardness of front springs are soft, rear springs are middle. oil is 600 I guess, so also middle viscosity. the standard tamiya CVA dampers made of plastic are a very good choice! this setup is good for both terrains, on- and offroad. the tires are any low-cost no name products, unfortunately a bit hard, but makes fun with them onroad, because it's easy to do some perfect drifts with higher speed :-)

how much ground clearance do you have, just got a Alpine A110 and working out the ride height for some off road fun like that, great video

Ray Allen I don't know... the wheels are a bit larger than the standart Tamiya wheels. There is also a difference to the chassis what you are using. The Alpine is M-chassis: much smaller wheels and overall size is smaller - result is less ground clearance.

I just installed a 5700kv castle sidewinder 3 on my DF03RA and just ran it and within 1 minute my slipper clutch gear got shredded I was just wondering what drivetrain upgrades did you do to yours

  • @diplomat3000

    @diplomat3000

    10 жыл бұрын

I don't have a slipper clutch or any upgrades, but the rear differential has to get a lot of maintenance and new parts, since I got the sidewinder combo. Tipp: fasten the diff srew and nut not to loose and fix it with screw-cement (prevents disadjusting while driving).
