Tamiya Beetle Hits the Beach! Brushless MF-01x with paddle tyres

Hi all. The weather stopped being rubbish for about half an hour so I raced to the beach with my brushless Tamiya MF-01x beetle which has paddle sand tyres. As you can see it did pretty well down there and was a load of fun. Please like and comment and all that :-)

Hiya Fil. I know you are a fan of this little chassis and with the paddle tyres and brushless set I think it's even better. Yes the beach is great and rather conveniently near my house. Best at this time of year when there aren't loads of holidaymakers getting in the way! Cheers for watching mate. Best wishes to you 😁👍

THAT WAS EPIC..... It would appear that the MF-01X chassis is really suited for the beach. I liked the way it was bombing across the sand and through the water and the little jumps over those white/grey looking rocks wouldnt cause too much damage to the chassis. That’s the reason I take all the 1150 bearings out of my crawlers and use the plastic tamiya bushes instead .not had one problem with bearing failure since and they have lasted for two years up to now on my main crawler that’s used in mud and water daily

Yeah I think it is a good plan for a beach runner to use those plastic bushings. Now you are giving me some MF01X modification ideas, I want some of that fun, the chassis seems to run much better in general on those bigger paddles and the power plant gives it plenty of punch. Hiya matey. Oh yes I've probably said before that really I would just like to do this sort of video on KZread but as you know, these days you need to get involved with how to's and reviews. Yes you've already got some of these tyres haven't you so you could easily do something like this with your MF-01x. I do think you need the extra power on the soft sand so brushless is good. I've had a VW camper body donated too so once I've worked out how to fit that on this chassis then there will be more beach based fun. Cheers for your great feedback as ever. Hope Sunday is going well for you. Best wishes 😁👍👍

Delightful mate! What an awesome edit Pete, an absolute masterpiece of videography there. 👌 Loving the sun in the background shimmering off the sea, some beautiful layering of scenery. The beetle looked great in action, dicing with the waves, bouncing over the cobbles, pounding the rocks and churning up the sand trails! 👌 Love it! What beach was this bud? I used to take my midnight pumpkin to Southbourne, and a place called Leap I think? Southbourne had gorgeous sands and huge waves, and Leap was more stoney if I remember right.... the eighties were a long time ago! Bet you had a major clean up on your hands after this one man?! 👍 👍 👍

Hiya James. Oh yeah I was waiting for a day when the tide was out and so was the sun and this was it. I've got the So & So boys to thank for the idea of these tyres on a MF-01X. It's surprisingly good but yes a cleanup was required and I think it will always have sand in the crevices. This is Southbourne beach going towards Hengistbury head. It's good because it's beyond the prom and there are sand dunes to blast over. Cheers for your great feedback as ever my friend. Very best wishes to you 😁👍👍

And yes, those tyres worked a treat, that thing was right at home! Hengistbry head is gorgeous, I always wanted to buy one of those beach huts.... that is until I enquired into how much they cost! 😱🤑 I love the cliff top walk down to the beach with the little train line running through it, from up above on a bright day the sea looks so blue that you could be mistaken for being abroad! I also love Mudeford..... so many good places to RC out your way, you're very lucky matey! Really must get back out that way for a visit, spent so much of my childhood in that area..... Well I have to say that initially it just got put back on the shelf, sand and all 😬 I've since given it a blast with the air blower and a bit of WD40. One thing I've discovered is that a couple of the tyres had come away from the rims and got full of sand. I tried the trusty method of boiling them to get the tyres off and the wheels melted to a non round shape. Moral of the tale is to make sure the tyres are really properly glued! Cheers for watching 😁👍👍
