Tamir Kugman: Why Faith in Jesus Is NOT Idol Worship

We invite you to join us for Conversations with Jewish Believers In Jesus hosted by Jeff Morgan. In this episode, Jeff talks with Tamir Kugman, an Israeli believer in Jesus, about why-despite what many may assume-faith in Jesus isn’t idol worship.
Tamir Kugman was born in Israel and grew up in a secular Jewish family. At the age of 21, while working as an animator for the Israeli Defense Forces, Kugman realized that Jesus was the Jewish Messiah. After receiving a BA in special education and an MA in learning disabilities, he worked as a special education teacher and administrator. In 2019, Kugman felt a new professional calling. He began working with Jews for Jesus, using his passion for art and education to tell others about Yeshua. Today, he, his wife, and their five children live in Tel Aviv.

Nothing is more genuinely Jewish than believing in the Jewish Messiah. Jesus is both man an God! Jeremiah prophesied a new covenant (which Talmud isn't). The new testament fits hand in glove with Tanakh. It's a natural continuation. God bless your channel ❤❤❤

I just wanted to say that I really like the way Tamir explained what I call the God-Head or what most call the Trinity. I am Seventh Day Adventist & there’s been a lot of controversy in our church on this subject. Tamir explains it better than anyone that I have heard speak on the subject. Thank you so much for making the meaning of the God-Head /Trinity clear in my mind🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

This is amazing. I’m Jewish and just recently started reading the New Testament, and a question that led me to the NT was, is Moshiach supposed to be G-d or just like G-d? To hear it explained in this way makes perfect sense - Moshiach could only be G-d the son. The NT literally is the continuation and fulfillment of the OT.

The Orthodox Catholic Church or the united "Church" before it split believes that Jesus is equal to the Father and co-eternal. If this wasnt the case Jesus would be a demigod rather than "God Almighty" which is what the Arians believed, but this created a problem for the belief in one God. When i read the Gospel however the Arian view is the view I come to, but im not a believer in the New Testament. Ever since i got into watching Rabbi Tovia Singer's videos i havent as a gentile been able to believe in it anymore because to me his arguments are so sound that i cant find anything to refute him. I read the Torah and i read the New Testamant and i see two competing forces, personally.

There are statements made only by Jesus that are profound! When I read them for the first time they seemed to register in my memory. I have a very bad memory normally, but these statements I can never forget because they are so profound. Jesus said to the Pharisees; before Abraham was I Am. Nobody has ever made such a claim. I never forget that statement. He also said, "I Am the Way the Truth and the Life, nobody comes to the Father except through Me " I'll never forget that statement. " I Am the good Shepherd " "I Am the bread of life" " The Father and I are One " " If you love me, keep my commandments " There are many more, but these demonstrate my point about Jesus, how His words penetrant and leave an indelible imprint on my memory which is not very good. It's because the weight of these statements and the uniqueness of them that make them so profound. It's nearly impossible to forget who made these claims, so much so that it could only come from God. Maranatha

Hello brother Jeff, I hope you could do a podcast of all the times in the Tanakh where the God of Israel presented himself to Patriarchs and the prophets as a human being. I think many Jewish people are unaware of how many times this actually happened and should have that information to consider. God bless you, I am praying for your safety and security of the nation and the mission of Messianic believers in the Holy Land.

All well said Jeff and Tamir. We as finite beings struggle with the idea of an eternal God, without beginning or end, let alone a Godhead of three in one. There comes a point that you just have to believe and take it by faith that what He says is real! I finally did and He transformed me overnight!

Wars in Israel make us think of the end times. After a sermon on Daniel 9 yesterday I was thinking of how this national prayer of repentance fits with Romans 11 and 12. The Jews, in a national way, will repent of their sins before Jesus' return. In Romans 12 it quotes Isaiah 59. In Isaiah 59 it is so clear that the LORD is the Messiah, then Isaiah speaks of the Gentiles and more of the Messiah and his reign. Just so beautiful. I know Jewish people and Israel feel very alone right now; I wish their eyes could be opened how over the whole earth, Gentiles are worshiping the God of the Jews (Isaiah 60) and praying for them. God is at work, even in suffering. I love learning about the threeness of God. I recently listened to a seminary atudent describe how God is love because each person loves the other and the third witnesses to the veracity. Our everyday experience tells is threeness is required for true love. So i inferred when God made Adam, Adam had twoness because God was a witness to the love between a man and woman. We image him but he is part of our three-corded strand. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Sir Jeff, thank you so much for this channel and airing those various testimonies that came from different Jewish personalities who already accepted CHRISTJESUS as their King,LORD,MASTER and SAVIOR,to GOD be all the praises, glory and honor on that. Its so overwhelming and overjoyed to know that there were already a lot of Jewish people who genuinely became of our LORD JESUS Followers,Believers and real Lovers of HIM/JESUS,'coz the gentiles CHRIST's believers felt so indebted to the Israelites, because thru your fall and transgression, and we're so sorry this, that salvation has came to us the gentiles in Romans 11: 11-12, that's why it is always in our prayer that we would sooner reach by the Grace of GOD the target desired number by GOD for the gentiles to fully and genuinely come to HIM in order for all the Jewish/Israelites be saved and that was in the book of Romans 11:25 and that"s why Israel is always in our hearts and we're always praying not just for the protection and justice but most of all for the salvation of all Jewish/Israelites people which will only be obtained thru believing and having faith in the MESSIAH/JESUS, WHO also came from their lineage WHOM also a Jewish. Now we're so happy,I personally so overwhilmed in joy knowing that there were already a lot of Israelites came to know JESUS in an authentic Faith, praise GOD....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love this. This subject, with Jewish people, has been my passion for awhile now! I just wish there was a better way to say it than, “3 PERSONS in one God.” Saying “3 PERSONS” just seems incorrect, and is where people tune us out. Also, since Jesus IS God, and Jews believe that repentance and God’s forgiveness (+ good deeds) is their only hope, if they haven’t heard of, or haven’t actively rejected Jesus, will Jesus (as God) still forgive them when they repent and ask for His forgiveness? I understand, that if they hear about Jesus as God-coming to pay the price for our sin, and outright reject Him, they cannot be saved. But what if, like the sages and rabbis you mentioned, who really wrangle with trying to understand God’s/Messiah’s part in salvation, WANT to understand, but die before they fully do, will God have mercy on them? They love Him. They try SO HARD to understand the Scriptures, but out of loyalty to ONE God, and fear of idolatry, they are afraid to offend Him; and in so doing, they are actually willing to take the risk of rejecting Him. It’s so sad.

The only way that my limited mind can comprehend God as being 1 entity and being comprised of 3 beings is to make an association with the different personalities we project depending on the environment we are in (e.g. work, with friends, . . .), but we are still one person. But with our limited capacity we can never fully understand the singularity & multiplicity of Elohim. 🙏✝

Always very inspiring and blessing to listen to you. One thing I may add the Bible doesn’t say God is not a man. If we read it it’s full context, Instead it says (Numbers 23:19) God is not a man, that He should lie.neither the son of man, that He should repent. Has He said and shall He not do it ? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good ?. By the same token I am not saying man is/can be god Not at all! But God out of His love to redeem all mankind who ever is willing to receive His grace with humble heart and Spirit. God became Man in Jesus Christ Yeshua. Gospel of John 1: 1-14. God bless you and your family with your people in Jesus Christ Name Amen!

Thank you for this video! I have struggled with that question, is Yeshua just a perfect human and a perfect image of God, his first creature, or is he himself the one true God. For we have in Germany a certain rabbi, Rabbi Baruch Ben Mordechai Kogan, he is an orthodox jew who belives in Yeshua, that he is the Messiah, he believes in the TaNaCh, in the Brit Chadashah, but he believes also in the Talmud. And he tries to bring all this three things together, and therefore he is teaching, that our Lord and Messiah is not the LORD, but he is His perfect human image. And this opinion may be considered, for it has some value, but actualy he theaches that not because of the Bible, but because of the men made Talmud. And I think that, if we listen just to Gods revelation in the Holy Scriptures, we find there that Elohim is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God in three Persons.

  • @frankrault3190
    @frankrault31907 ай бұрын

This is how I imagine trinity. And I might be wrong, but let's have it. 1. God is love. 2. Love is inherently relational 3. What is it, in the beginning that God loves? 4. God the father loves God the son and that love is mutual, hence relational. 5. This cannot be without "fruits", and the fruit of it is the Holy Spirit. And there we find the core of God's love being the source of creation. 6. All of this is in an incomprehensible mysterious way, not in an earthly causal way. 7. Yet, we can grasp some of this, like when Yeshua is praying to the father about us: Let them be in me like I am in you. And like you are in me I will be in them. (John is pointing at that.) 8. So, we're invited to be taken up into that tri-unite love, which is a mystery so big, that it overcomes human sin, by Yeshua's sacrifice. So, with the words of Tamir Kugman, I believe that some of the mystery of this trinity can "penetrate" our heart, as a gift from the tri-unite one God. Thank you for this great interview!!!

The "idol worship" question is really a basic syllogism. If we grant that human beings don't possess the power to heal the lame, give sight to the blind, or raise the dead, then those things can only be done by the power of God. Did Yeshua do these things, or not? If He did, it would be reasonable to conclude that he is divine.

Maybe this could help you understand how three persons can be 1 and the same. If you are a man that has children that makes you a Father. Being a man means you were born of a woman which makes you a Son. What you teach your children is your Will and if they love you and obey you your Spirit lives thru them. Thus since God created children (man) he became The Father. To save us He came down and was born of a woman making Him The Son. When He walked with man and taught His children His Will those who obeyed Him His Holy Spirit lives on thru them. Thus Father, Son, Holy Spirit are one and the same God. We can’t be idolators since we worship the same God. Shalom

God Was Manifest in the flesh as like a human being . God is Spirit, Soul, and flesh as God put on human flesh . We are made in the image of God . God is not trinity but God Became a man through the seed of Abraham . The Great God Almighty is Jesus and the human nature is Jesus Who came to save his people . He is the only One Who forgives Sins.

God said many times that He would forgive, and He forgave (past tense), long before Jesus was born. Many texts could be listed. The following are just a few of these: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and WILL FORGIVE their sin.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 “I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and YOU FORGAVE the iniquity of my sin.” Psalm 32:5 “Their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant. But he, being full of compassion, FORGAVE their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh.” Psalm 78:37-39 “YOU FORGAVE he iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin.” Psalm 85:2 “LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a FORGIVING God, though you punished their misdeeds.” Psalm 99:8 NIV “Who is a God like you, PARDONING iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.” Micah 7:18 “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly PARDON.” Isaiah 55:7 Jesus did not die to pay God for sin. Basic logic tells us that a complete payment cancels forgiveness, and complete forgiveness voids any demand for payment. You cannot forgive a debt that has already been paid, and you do not need to pay a debt that has been forgiven. Forgiveness is granted because a debt has NOT been paid, not after the payment has been made! Forgiveness that can be bought or sold is not true forgiveness. If you think that you or a third party can purchase genuine forgiveness, you do not understand forgiveness! We humans can forgive others when they sin against us. To claim that God could not do a good thing that we can do is to make us more moral than God.

Jesus is not only pay for the sins,,Jesus is the new covenant of God ,,,..God gave the covenant to Moses to people to follow, but people always did the mistake nobody is perfect, they cannot follow Gods rule in perfect way ,so God always punish them before and so many people are died ,,,because of GODS love he make a new covenant to the people,..that will put the hearts of the people ,u dont need to be holy and do a perfect way because God gave the people the new covenant and it is only one to forgive our sins and that is JESUS that will put to our hearts...only Love for Jesus and accept him as our God is the new covenant of God to the people,,u dont need fast and offer something to God as what the God said to moses, because God already made the new covenant and that only to accept his son Jesus,,you already can eat the uncleaned animals because God demolish already his agreement to the old testament, his promise that he will give the new covenant that will put only to our hearts,,when we love to Jesus thats is coming from our hearts,,thats why God said he will put his new covenant to our hearts....accept him as God and our saviour and thats only what Gods ask for the people...

@@GodsLove883 Please read the Bible to learn a lot more. For example, we read, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission [or, release] of sins." Acts 3:19,26 “Repent therefore and be converted, [so] that your sins may be blotted out” and, “God, having raised up His servant Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.” There is nothing here about Jesus paying for their iniquities, which is a huge omission if this is a new doctrine that must be proclaimed and believed. Instead of a payment for forgiveness, the instruction is that God has blessed them through Jesus by means of using him to stop people from sinning, and that this repentance is the basis of God blotting out their record of sin. This is a totally different message than today's "Jesus paid it all." Romans 5:10-11 “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” The death of Jesus that reconciles us-to-God, not God-to-us! By what mechanism does the death of Jesus reconcile us to God? The injustice of it shocks the conscience of every moral person and should have the effect of leading the listener to want to never sin again, and then the blood covenant of Christ leads us to be loyal to him. Turning away from sin and to God enables reconciliation: “let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon” Isaiah 55:7. Furthermore, now that we have been reconciled, we will be saved/delivered (future) from the wrath, or judgment, mentioned in the previous verse. It does not say, "have been saved" (past tense). And, this saving from judgment is said to be by the life of Jesus, not by his death! How is it that we are being saved by the life of Jesus? It is because he demonstrated what right living looks like, and also because we serve a risen Lord, a risen Savior who is alive and resurrected.

As someone below said, Jesus is both man and God. We all know that God is a spirit. The spirit that was in the man Jesus was God. Genesis chapter 1 says ..and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. It is this same spirit that was in Jesus. Isaiah 7:14 states ...the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Emmanuel means GOD WITH US.

I've never heard a Jewish scholar that was not Christian refer to Isaiah chapter 9 as talking about the messiah. They always tell you that it's referring to King Hezekiah. Which it is. But if you read that verse in Hebrew versus reading it in the Christian Bible you will see that the Christians changed around the wording to make it sound like it was referring to someone who would be born in the future where it was originally a referring to someone who had already born

For a Jew, Christianity is the weirdest and strangest religion of all. In spite of shared scriptures, Christianity veers off in the Twilight Zone. Firstly, most Christians don't understand that Christianity combined the idea of the messiah with the son of God. It is pointless to argue whether Jesus was the messiah or not. Jesus clearly did not fulfill all the Jewish prophecies for the Messiah and Christianity obviously agrees since they have the notion of a second coming. When the messiah comes, we will see if it is Jesus or not. The difficult part of Christianity is the trinity - one God in three parts. I used to dismiss those who said Christians worship a different God but the more I watch Christian videos and talk personally to Christians, the more I do think they worship a different God. Firstly, evangelicals are intoxicated with Jesus; Jesus saturates their being but he seems to takeover and crowd out God. Strangely, Christians have tried to convert me and tell me to stop being stiff-necked, to take off my blinders, and give up my mean horrible cruel jealous God of the Old Testament and accept the loving Jesus of the New Testament. This seems proof that true Christians know they worship a different God than the Jews. To accept Jesus is to give up belief in the One True God who created the Universe and accept some strange different God.

We are made in God's Image. Adam as made 3-1 Just as God is. Adam was made Body and soul, then the Holy Spirit breathed on him. Adam had a connection to God through the Holy Spirit. When he sinned, The spirit in him died. The connection to him died. Ever since, man was born with a body and soul, but the spirit of God is not in you. You are two in one. Body and soul. Jesus came to return the Holy Spirit to man. Accepting Jesus and his teaching as God, He sends his Holy Spirit to make his home in you, making you again three in one, You become the temple of God. Now God's connection is remade. Jesus existed before the earth was made, as God is timeless. God the Father is the soul (Mind), Jesus is the human (Body), and The Holy Spirit connects all. It may not be perfact, but I believe it is correct.

The bible teaches us that int he beginning there were two Gods. This is confirmed in Gen 1:26 "Let Us create Man"..This is also confirmed in the New Testament oh 1:1 The Word was with God, and the Word was God. There were two individual Gods, two separate entities, and not one divided into two individual natures or beings i.e. God and Man. Both Gods were Holy Spirits as God is invisible and God created Jesus with the same characteristics as God the Father, i.e. spiritual beings. God gave Jesus the power to create and the bible confirms in the New Testament that Jesus created everything. The Salvation Plan of God required that Jesus had to GIVE UP His deity status to become totally man on this earth, as He had to show man on earth that He is man and through the power of God, He could perform miracles etc. and eventually die on the cross as man, for man's sin. If Jesus was God and Man at the same time, He could NOT have died on the cross, as God cannot die. Jesus experienced the real pain with no Godly power in Him. The power that was in Jesus was removed from Him before He died on the cross for mankind. I also believe that when God decided that the time was ripe to send Jesus to this earth two thousand years ago, He reduced Jesus to the size of a DNA cell and planted this DNA cell into Mary which grew in her as a normal human being with all the knowledge that He had when He was with God in heaven. He knew God personally and He also said to the people that if they have seen Him, they have seen God, as He experienced the being togetherness with God the Father. God also confirmed that Jesus was His Son when He was baptized by John, the baptist. Jesus also called God His Father. There was definitely two separate individual entities, each one with its own thoughts. Even satan knew that Jesus was totally man on this earth and that is why he tempted Jesus in the desert after His baptism, but because Jesus knew God and where He came from, and why He came to this earth to save mankind out of love for His Father God and for mankind, He was not prepared to bow down to satan, and satan would never have tried this with Jesus if Jesus was God on this earth, as he knew God's power. Only after Jesus' death and resurrection and ascension to heaven to take His seat at the right hand of God on His own throne, did He receive back the powers that was removed from Him when He came to this earth as man. Jesus is now sitting next to God as the Man, Mediator and NOT as God. As Jesus received back His powers, He is also omnipotent which means that while He is in heaven, He is also on this earth and that is why Jesus said to His disciples that where two or more people are gathered in His Name, there He will be, and not another Spirit. The facts above also then nullifies the trinity teaching, which is a mystery to the human being. Currently there is only God the Father, a Holy Spiritual being, Jesus Christ as Man, next to God on His own throne and also a Holy Spirit on this earth, and no other Holy Spirit floating around.

I was just reading Timothy today Paul said the one, the invisible God, and that Jesus is the only mediator and Paul was a Jew and a horrible murderous one at that he said. Jesus was visible because he was born from a woman, but his Dad was God. Doesn't this make him a Demi God half God half man. He said he was the son of Man and the son of God. Paul also says two types are saved those with the law are saved through Jesus. Those without the Law through the spirit, because they are a law unto themselves, they do the law of love in other words... God cannot condem someone apart from law, where there is no law there is no condemnation. And the only law is love God and one another, so it seems best not to judge who is under law or who is not. I made that mistake of thinking I need to talk people into being Christians when I was young, but that is between them and God. It is my job to confess Jesus not my job to convince people. For all I know they may not even be living under the law in the first place, so that is completely between them and God.

It is true that Jesus never directly said that He was God. But indirectly He did. Let us just think about the claims He made about Himself, I AM..... the way... the truth..... the life..... the resurrection... the light of the world.... Doesn't that make us wonder who this I AM could be? Maybe, the I AM who I AM....? Just before Jesus was arrested, we read about a strange occurrence. "Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. When Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground." (John 18:4-6 ESV) Here we have had another revelation of the Eternal God "in human form" as Jeff often says. It is only in the presence of God that human beings will lose all their physical strength and fall down to the ground (like John in the Book of Revelation). Jesus also asked His disciples whether they knew who he was. Only Peter knew and that only by revelation from God, our Father in Heaven. At His own baptism and on the Mount of Transfiguration God Himself called Jesus His beloved Son. Apostle Paul told us that, "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him." (Col 1:15-16 ESV) and "For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority." (Col 2:9-10 ESV)

@@Susanne_Schuberth_Germany Sister, thank you for your comment but unfortunately your argument doesn't hold water. See, Jesus explain to us in Matthew 16 who He was, and where truth comes from. He is The Christ, Son of the Living God, sent by God to fulfill the old covenant laws and that truth that Peter answered with came directly from God! And on that truth, the truth of God did Jesus build His Church, not man, especially Paul! It's not confusing at all to understand and we know God is not the Arthur of confusion!
