Taming the Torana on the Tarmac - Cheap Motorkhana Action

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This was my first time entering my Torana in a skidpan type event. This was a 'Group 5 Motorkhana' hosted at Geelong Motorsports Park (Avalon VIC). Very affordable and accessible, grass-roots motorsport. I've posted a few short clips of the car in action at this event last year and it has been great to see people enjoying those, but a proper video (showing warts and all) of me practising and trying to master these tight cone courses was something I've really wanted to share.
This video is a bit different to my others as it was actually filmed and edited by my mate Kieran from StreetStatik, I want to thank him very sincerely for his efforts and the awesome results here.
Let me know in the comments if you want to see more of this stuff!

    Mate what a beautiful, beautiful car. Have coveted the Torana hatch for the last 40+ years since it was released when I was a kid. I drive a 7 litre Camaro Z28 which is a beast but I'd kill to get one of these in the garage. Congratulations in every respect for repping this outstanding car. So envious! Subbed.

    A well sorted hatch would make a lovely pair with your Z28! Haha. Thanks very much. 👌

    Hi Heath, it would be good if you could do some short uploads on your exhaust, induction, colling system etc. explaining the science behind the modifications you have undertaken. With your background you understand the science and many others don't unfortunately. It would be worth documenting this as your car showcases this well. Mark

    Great car, its your own style, not run of the mill, SLR striped Torana. going a custom style, but making it not hurt the eyes, is alot harder than what people might thing, specially in the colours youve done it. very tastefull. and for all the Chasers guys out there, I have to ask just Why?

  • @Hezath

    @Hezath

    Thanks! Yeah it's tricky to do a one-off graphic (particularly a bright one) that anyone warms to, but the response to the stripe design I came up with for this car has been generally really favourable and I do like having something bright that stops my car being mistaken with any other one! Haha What do you mean re: the Chasers? They're kinda long for the tight layouts, but robust driveline, great for repeated clutch dumps and pretty easy to drift. I'll probably take my Chaser to one of these in the future lol.

    The Torana looks and sounds awesome mate, but that Motorkhana crap is for Ricers…. V8 Touring Cars deserve a decent race track. 👍

  • @Hezath

    Haha all of those "ricers" have better oiling systems than my shitty Holden V8 and unlike mine, would probably be happy on a race track! It's surprising how far from track-prepped a V8 Torana is in standard form. I'll get it back to a track once I've re, re-engineered more systems to stop it blowing up. Until then... basically all motorsport is fun so I'll just do other events, like this. 😋
