In this video, we will see the Tamil film songs in raga Suddha Dhanyasi. This is a pentatonic scale raga with only five notes but it is so powerful that many music directors have widely used this raga in their compositions. Among them, Maestro Iliayaraja sir has explored the raga in-depth and has composed many evergreen songs. His mastery over the raga is amazing as he has scored more than 100 compositions based on this raga. We are presenting only 30 songs. Since the list is huge, we will present 15 songs in this part 1.

Excellent compilation and nice presentation very unique to listen and enjoyed these special retrofit videos. My choice is Ragavaney Ramana Ragunatha and during my school days I loved Pattakathi Bairavan Engkengu sellum En Enabgal. Nathiyourum Nanal Onru from MAA remake Thalivar film 🎥 Annai Oru Alayam.

What a beautiful raagam and it is amazing how the Music directors especially Illayaraja have explored the various dimensions of this ragam.. Truly starting from the mid 70s till the mid 80s were the glorious years of Tamil film music and those were the Raja years.. Fascinating repertoire of songs...wow..
