Tamika Mallory - The Most Powerful Speech of a Generation

Музыка

In the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd, this powerful and moving speech was given by Tamika Mallory.
The rhythm and tone of her speech gave me the idea to set it to music as a sort of protest song. The only way these injustices will stop is if we ALL speak up, and this is my small part in saying enough is enough.
The footage is from the national news broadcasts that day and is within fair use guidelines.

@Galva Tron Why would I do that? Where has that ever led but to give those with power more power. Truly the most ridiculous suggestion on your part. POC have to expose the violence against us...they have to fight back with actions that require something much stronger than weapons...it requires bringing people to the table - especially those who don't believe in our mission...or in our struggle...forcing them to do the right thing. We must demand changing policies, laws, etc. that affect poc. That takes real guts...guns are a sorry ass bandaid. We all have to be continously active in making that change...and doing dumb sh*t like bringing more violence into the picture resolves nothing. It may resolve it for MAGAts....but not for my kids..or my family...or my community.

I've seen police brutality against African Americans in this country my whole life, it's been witnessed by my parents and grandparents their whole lives. I have 4 more years before I retire, and I've discussed this topic with my children and grandchildren. I'm leaving this country, the country of my birth and my ancestors who were here, before this was even a country. Trump's family has barely been in this country a century, and yet he tells Americans of color to go back to their countries. I've lived during the Birmingham church bombings, the assassinations of Malcolm and Dr. King and Fred Hampton, the 68 riots. the torture of Abner Louima The execution of Amadiou Diallo, the murder Eric Garner. When is it going to stop? I don't see that happening in my lifetime. Some people thought when Obama was elected, that things were going to change, I was NEVER one of them. The problem is too systemic in all governmental institutions, but more than this, the mindset of a lot of Caucasian Americans. I used to think with integration over generations, the problem of institutionalized racism and the majority of racism in general, would die out with the younger generation of children growing up together, being exposed to each other over the years, and to be fair, this has worked, but not on the scale that it needs to among the vast majority of the population. The only way I see resolution to this problem is through economic power and the consequential use of force. These are unfortunately the only languages this nation speaks. All the marching and protesting what has it accomplished in the last 50 plus years, since the civil right act of 1964 was signed into law? I'm not a coward. I served 8yrs in the US Army, two combat tours, My great great Uncle is buried in Arlington with the Mass. 54 regiment, My grandmother's brother buried in France WWI my father was with Gen.Patton at the battle of the bulge my brother served 2 tours and was wounded in Vietnam I come from a history of soldiers who have served this country thinking that doing so would allow them to have what was promised by a grateful nation. What did they get? Discrimination, brutality, injustice and death to come home to. (The ones who made it back home) I'm done. I'm taking my pension, my social security which I earned and will renounce my american citizenship so they can't get another tax dollar from my ass, ever again. I'll be able to live in a country were my skin color isn't a mark against me. Hopefully the US dollar doesn't collapse. I pray God gives you all the fortitude and the perseverance to win this war of oppression this nation has waged against our people and grant you that elusive victory that our ancestors so desperately searched for, but was unable to find in this country, in this life.

Sorry Tamika. This speech is a repeat. Been there. Done that. Waste of everybody's time. Check out any Malcom X speech. Today's youth are less capable of dealing with these issues than those before them. Black Americans have always been guilty before proven innocent. Driving while black, the uneasy glance in the department store, the white woman clutching her purse more tightly when black youth approach, the fake outrage from white liberals when a black person is mistreated--while they live in a gated community and send their kids/grandkids to a private school but try to sell you 'warm and fuzzy'. Why do you think 'white flight' happens? Why all the private academies after integration? White people do not want to be around you! Hell! Go to San Francisco and ask any Chinese person if they feel threatened when a young black male approaches. Reality bites. Am I a racist? Of course I am! I'm an American. It comes with the territory! But I hate no one and wish everyone the best and any race can live next door and marry my sister. Not an issue for me personally. The answer is to have a Separate Black State (or states) with total black control of all institutions. Malcom and the NOI felt that way. Cities do not work. Failure everywhere! It would be voluntary and any race could live there. All within the framework of our Federal System. All government programs etc would be included. What's not to like? The richest and best educated black people in the world live right here! Return to the South and create an electoral majority. That's all it will take. Ask the Mormons of Utah. Good luck!

Human nature is dark… we do terrible things sometimes… The relationship between the oppressor and the oppressed is not confined to any one country… That is civilization, we make progress and fall back…We shall overcome someday, Oh deep in my heart, Loard. I do believe we shall overcome someday… Black lives matter Now, the world can be a nasty crazy place out there, we need a lot of courage and we need a lot of resilience after that, and we will fall down before we stand up… What really matters is the silence of the night in our conscience, when we are alone. We cannot control what happens but we can use what happens. We have so much reserves of love and support inside us, if we can just remember that in our mind and move on.

I would love to protect her and brothers that hear my voice and read my words you should join me when you get a black queen like that that speaks up like that we have to protect her and I do mean with all deliberate power I know I'm not the only black man with a spine we need to protect that Queen so nothing ever happens to her

For those of who are living what she's speaking on, the music is just a part of the soundtrack of our lives. I heard her loud and clear, sista girl was on point. Some of you want to make the music the center point of her speak, shm. The words that she is speaking, are being spoken to those in the fight for equality. Those of us, who have fought all our lives, if you not only heard, but felt in your soul what she said, than you, my dear friend are a part of the solution to an unjust society. KEEP FIGHTING

I'm curious. Has Black Lives Matter ever done anything to try to improve the relations between the black community and law enforcement? What have they done to bring business and investment to black neighborhoods? What have they done to end the drug abuse that's destroying the black community? I'm just asking.
