Can I put jeans in the hoop and do designs?

I have mostly crewel yarns (Apple, from England) and DMC embroidery thread. Would either or both of these work with a tambour needle, or do I need something finer?

I suggest a finer thread initially Loretta such as a normal sew all sewing thread such as you would use in a sewing machine. Once you get experienced you can try other threads. Caroline does use our Lana thread on one of the videos but it's about half the size of Appletons crewelwools

Hello Sarah I was starting my tambour and try it out but no luck to make the tread steady the fabric. Much it tangle up and will you give another tips how to pull the thread out smoothly without keep tangle each other. Thanks

It gets twisted as you wrap and work in one direction. As you change directions and therefore the direction of the wrap the thread should untwist, and should balance out over the course of the work. You can lock the thread in the spool top and let it dangle to untwist.

My hook keeps moving no matter how much I tighten, what am I doing wrong?

I haven't ordered anything yet. Can you tell me what the best needles are? Where do I get them?

The needles come with the handles Patricia in 3 sizes. We have them in our shop but have just sold out. I will get some more on order though!

There isn't a needle Francesca, you have to put it over the hook. Check out our first stitching video in this series that shows you the basics of how to get going

what the difference between tambour and needle punch?

Very different processes; I believe punch needle works by creating a stitch by looping the thread around the weave of the fabric, tambour involves creating small chain stitches using a specialist hook

So there are different sized needles? Sorry I'm relatively new to tambor embroidery. I used to do embroidery years and years ago. But not like this. Embroidery is beautiful to me. Tambor embroidery is even more so. I'll have to check out the other womans channel.

So..... everything except how to use it. Disappointing.
