Games like this are all too rare. One worth checking out is Lord Temin's Fortress.

It's not possible that every puzzle game that comes out, 90% of the people who haven't even played it immediately say it's similar to Portal because it has robots. Play the game before speaking.

Yeah, I see your point. That's a pretty shallow comparison. The fact is: there aren't many games similar to The Talos Principle. The closest I know of though are The Witness and Lord Temin's Fortress. The Witness is similar as a puzzle game and Lord Temin's Fortress is similar in that it's looks beautiful with beautiful music and a story that unfolds. Portal is only similar because it's a 3D game with puzzles.I guess there aren't enough games to compare to Talos.

it's a first-person puzzle game with AIs and philosophy. Portal is definitely the most related game I know of. but yes, they are different games.

@@Sahuagin Much more serious tone, different game mechanics (but the lasers and cubes will always remind this little Portal 2 aftertaste), Portal is linear, TTP isn't and has several endings, plenty of secrets dispatched all along the game, the only real common point is that they both are great puzzle games. Story wise, despite having a lot more humor, jokes and giggles, Portal is really much more grim dark IMHO.

this game is seriously a piece of art. if you prefer puzzles over story, the puzzles are plenty and extremely well made and you aren't forced to read into all of the story. if you prefer story over puzzles, well you still gotta do the puzzles but the story is amazing as well. and if you like a healthy mix of both (like me) I can't imagine you'd walk away anything else but pleased. this game is up there with the best puzzle games ever made. on par with portal in my honest opinion.

Bought it on Steam, the game is a masterpiece. No killstreaks or hordes of zombies here, this is for the thinking gamer.

I don't use the word "masterpiece" often, but... here is one.

'Masterpiece' is way over used, but it's the right word here. Some other games come close. For visuals and puzzles, The Witness is great. For visuals and music with simpler puzzles Lord Temin's Fortress is comparable. But really, The Talos Principle stands alone.

Thirty minutes in, I regretted purchasing the game. One hour in, I had gotten my money's worth. About nine hours in, The Talos Principle surpassed Skyrim as my personal favorite game of all time.

Just 100% this great game the other day. It took 5 months, and I racked up well over 100 hours. Tons of frustration, lots of rage quits live on stream. It kept pulling me back to find "Every. Single. Sigil." If you know someone who loves puzzle games, please, recommend this to them.

Yeah Oblivion is my favorite TES game...however the graphics now are a blast of retro...have you seen the mellons? Its like the pixels are escaping this dimension! Still the best setting and writting tho...

It's going to stay in my memory for the rest of my life. Experiences like The Talos Principle don't come around too often. Lord Temin's Fortress is the closest in terms of an amazing gameplay experience, but it's not deep in a life-changing way like Talos.

Got a crush on the 'voice of doubt' or 'serpent' or 'the one who wants to convince you that everything in life is worthless'. 10/10 would love to have 'heartfelt discussions' until the end of times with them.

The Talos Principle is part game, part philosophy, which makes it so rare. There are other games that compare in terms of visuals, music and gameplay, such as The Witness, Lord Temin's Fortress and Portal, but those are much thinner on intellect and life questioning concepts.

i bought this game cuz it had a cool portal 2 easter egg and it was like 50% off, easily made it to my top 3 puzzle games. it's fantastic. the sam voice makes a extra playthrough necessary

I think this just clearly shows how artistic video games can be nowadays; they can have an effect, and a deep and continuous one, just like a great book, movie, music piece and even better than them, because you're there, you can interact and even decide and change the environment or yourself. And as a plus, in some games (like The Talos Principle), if you don't read that much, you can actually learn a lot, and if you read, you tend the see and interact with a lot of ideas that you've read, it's a great experience indeed, with that great soundtrack, beautiful environment, super interesting story and mysteries. If you're a gamer or reader or you love puzzles and mysteries, give this game a try.

Just bought this on Steam. Currently waiting for it to download. I'm so excited!! xD

I agree, but at least its rated and known. If you're looking for MEGA UNDERRATED, check out Lord Temin's Fortress. It's an amazing piece of work. Not as 'deep' as Talos, but beautiful visuals, a powerfully emotional soundtrack and an extremely playable action puzzle game.

I've only played it for a few, but to me, this isn't Skyrim, never was meant to be Skyrim.. However the game reminds me of the old Myst games from the early 2000s if anyone remembers those.

I enjoyed the 4 puzzle sample(actual 3 puzzle but had a hidden thing). It didn't seem as good as Portal, very similar and almost as good but not quite there. The full game could change that though? I just waked up, maybe it was 4 and a hidden dealio?

Portal was fucking amazing, anti-chamber is sub-par at best, and can barely even be considered a puzzle game, as it's has almost no puzzles, as puzzles require logic to solve, and antichamber requires acting like a dumbass and doing random shit and hoping something works to solve it's 'puzzles'

Art Murder Wow. Puzzle games have individual fan boys huh? Wtf happened to gaming? A bunch of whiney babies these days. Portal was good. It was just too easy. I guess Antichamber would seem like doing random things to someone that isn't intelligent enough to figure out the logic. Though there are a couple puzzles leaning more towards the random side, the challenge is still more enjoyable to me than plowing through room after room while barely pausing for thought.

WHAT ??? This was made by Croteam aka the creators of Serious Sam ? I didn't know about this, i need to get this Game.

That elder scrolls style soundtrack as well! Seems really interesting!

If it's soundtrack you're looking for, you should check out Lord Temin's Fortress. It might not be as 'deep' as Talos, but the visuals are great and the soundtrack is even better in my opinion.

I want to know more. The dialogue was cheesy, but it the trailer was intriguing nonetheless.

The truly impressive part? Valve BOUGHT Portal. Croteam CREATED Talos. (And as much as I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE P1 & P2, Talos' thinking is SO MUCH DEEPER, even despite the multiple choice questions.)

It's a quite a big game and pretty difficult. Took me ages to finish it on the first run. If you're looking for a game that's easier but just as good in terms of visuals and soundtrack, you could check out Lord Temin's Fortress. That is one smooth playing game.

which is funny because this is now going to become the new standard for intellectual puzzle games. Years from now people will be comparing newer titles to Talos instead of portal because this is just on a whole different level :D
