Before The Ramones, Gary Glitter, The Stray Cats, and The New York Dolls, there was Flamin' Groovies. I can hear elements of all those artists in this cover of Freddy Cannon's 1959 hit. Maybe in a different world the Groovies would be considered the Godfathers of something, of exactly what I am not sure. They certainly qualify as proto-punk and proto-power pop. As Eno once said of The Velvet Underground, I think these guys also led to the creation of a lot of bands.

Actually this track was not produced by Edmunds, though recorded around the same time as those other Edmunds produced tracks like "Slow Death" and "Shake Some Action" (and recorded at Rockfield I believe while Edmunds was gone for some reason). The original record said "produced by 'Flowerboy Venus'" which I think was a moniker for Cyril Jordan. Anyway, it's a killer!
