This is one of the best eight minutes of live rock n' roll ever captured on camera. Dirty, sleazy and magnificent. It can't be faked - and this is as 'for real' as you'll get.

All of 'em, you can't forget Danny Mihm, R.I.P., on drums, this was pretty much the end of his time with them but he was the best drummer they ever had, one of the best in Rock and Roll.

Actually it's Flamin' Groovies which I'm pretty sure is what Cyril called those little mouse characters he drew. Probably wrong but I'd been to his home in the late 60s and saw his vast collection of memorabilia. He was the only person I knew, at the time, that had an EC comic collection. His artwork was commercial grade. Reminded me of the 1940s, very old Disneyesque stuff. He wrote some great songs and did NOT get the fame he deserved. :)

And they sound more Mississippi than the Stones could ever, however being California boys. But heck, so were the CCWR and they absolutely LOVE them down in the bayous Stones =some British kids playing to be Americans with a front singer thinking he's a Black mamma. Not even Aretha would have such pretensions like those Blues lovers Bros clowns, but they had the nerve and pulled it good. Like Clapton must have seem a God in UK until a real Black player from somewhere in USA arrived to show how it all came to be among the liberated colored, poor af playing for Life not money or fame (which they never got enough or as deserved, even on their own Music, White kids as Keith and Mick got more recognition and pennies)

Seen they guys at the eAsToWn theatre in beautiful~Detroit. The guitarist, Cyril Jordan had shaved the back of his head in the shape of a Triangle? Maybe for the strange effect of the triangle, or who know WhaT? Anyway, they rocked it up pretty good. I wanna' say this was probably somewhere around 1971~72. I usually tried to catch their Detroit & surrounding area shows after seeing them perform initially.

Vws Vas after the trifecta of let it bleed, exile and sticky fingers they lost it totally. The Groovies in the early 70's really nailed that greasy r&b rock n roll. But you're dead right!

NO - after Goats Head Soup NOT Exile ... a lot of those Soup songs were written in the classic Beggars Banquet - Let It Bleed - Sticky Fingers - Exile on Main Street period.

Last time they played Boston, Chris was a drunken shambles, some of his relatives from the South Shore were in attendance but he couln't perform much - even so, they pulled out a lot of their lesser known numbers such as "Married Woman" (by Frankie Lee Sims) and that made up for a ragged evening, and they proved they hadn't forgot how to be cool as a moose and twice as hairy.

The lead singer is Chris Wilson. At this time he'd been singing with them for a couple of years or so, I think. He took over from Roy Loney, who occasionally joined the most recent FG lineups for one-off gigs towards the end of his life. RIP Roy Loney

Tell that to Mick & Keith, who said the Flamin’ Groovies did a better job with their album Teenage Head than what the Stones were trying to do with Sticky Fingers. Keith also said their version of Jumpin Jack Flash was better than the Stones ever did.

Last time they played Boston, Chris was a drunken shambles, some of his relatives from the South Shore were in attendance but he couln't perform much - even so, they pulled out a lot of their lesser known numbers such as "Married Woman" (by Frankie Lee Sims) and that made up for a ragged evening, and they proved they hadn't forgot how to be cool as a moose and twice as hairy.

Someone told him he needed to learn how to sing on pitch, and there was a fistfight. The singer got worse than he gave, and the tooth was never seen again.

The lead singer is Chris Wilson. At this time he'd been singing with them for a couple of years or so, I think. He took over from Roy Loney, who occasionally joined the most recent FG lineups for one-off gigs towards the end of his life. RIP Roy Loney
Lack of energy but still OK.

Slow Death is an excellent song and I'm really happy to see this, but. The drumming really sucks. Sorry, but it does.

Tell that to Mick & Keith, who said the Flamin’ Groovies did a better job with their album Teenage Head than what the Stones were trying to do with Sticky Fingers. Keith also said their version of Jumpin Jack Flash was better than the Stones ever did.
