It was really difficult judging a winner for this battle.. Dega have very strong Mello and Btone section. Their problem, well i'll say the problem with Most bands is they just don't seem to know how to maneuver and set up their bands based on their strengths and weaknesses. Why the Hell don't these bands who know they don't have a strong trumpet section, refuse to pull their trumpets forward to balance things out?? It's not a crime to do that so your band can have a more balanced sound. Instead of Putting your most powerful sections forward.. I just don't understand why this is not common sense. geez. I'f i had to place my band in the shape of a cross or lowercase "t" for the sake of balance i would do it. Why don't they place their trumpets on the 1st row across, mellos and btones on the 2nd row behind the trumpets and and trombones then tubas on the row behind them. Just an example based on the weak and strong sections of these 2 bands. But i notice most bands sacrifice balance and clarity for power. This traditional set up is perfect for older bands imo that had equally powerful sections. My point is, they shout reorganize their set up based on the specific strengths and weaknesses of their bands.

Man how TC half the size of a well known band from Louisiana that shall remain nameless and clearer and more powerful than them

DEDUCTION BOTH BANDS one is just super loud with no melody can’t tell what song is being played (don’t get me wrong they cranking but that’s it no dynamics) and the other is unbalanced and bricking notes on every song Back to the drawing board 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

These arrangements sounding summer bandish. Collegiate programs should have arrangements that really speak to the best tessitura for each instrument. A lot of these notes are too high and leads to harsh bright sounds from both groups! Proper arrangements like JSU and, from what I heard in Mardi Gras so far, Valley would have fixed the sound of both groups
