Memphis was sloppy, but I give them the edge. Their arrangements just give more color. In the fall, I care more about execution and trumpets not overhanging, but in the summer, i just want to hear great arrangements and Memphis gives you that. MAAB had great arrangements too, just not as good as Memphis. From someone who has lived in both states

Thank You Killa Kev Prod for posting. However, I found the Totally Blow, BLOW, B L O W, Harder and Louder 3:09 arrangement Boring, Repetitive, loss interests after the first phrase! Nothing subtle about it for sure. NO Dynamics, No Display of individual talent. The Independence Showdown Mass Band, may have been better served if given really something "Cool" to play, rather than what was given them. My guess, this marvelous group of kids were given an incredible opportunity to learn and express their music. I as a former Band Parent, was not prepared for getting my (and perhaps, the Fans in the Stands!?) having its Faces Blown Off. OK! I am showing signs of ageing again, He, He. HOWEVER, IMHO, I came away with the impression that in the music directors minds, and/or those of the young performing musicians goals was simply LOUD, LOUDER AND LOUDEST IS BEST and the #1 Showdown Priority!?. If so Mission Accomplished. But my trained ear felt so shallow and left me feeling sad. Based on my personal experience: Marching Percussion beginning in 6th Grade with school Marching Band; Followed by Seven Years of Marching in our Hometown Drum Corps, performing a variety of music & styles for countless events: local, regional, national and in multiple country's. Moving on to 1991-2016, I'd pursue my Personal Music, composing, performance and international traveling dreams, while continuing my Passion for the Drum Corps Activity, through financial support, volunteerism, touring and now being a Forever Fan of the "Pageantry of the Arts." My Prayers and Wish is that all of YOU, Current/Future Band & Drums Corps Marching Members, iS to discover the Musical Gifts obvious or hidden within you, expressing your talents to everyone within eye and ear shot. In closing, I've learned, creating music, and expressing i.e., "Showcasing" it from the depths of one's soul, serves a Hidden God Given Mission: Let your music Embrace the audience, as they Embrace your performances. His/Your Goal, Reward, and Purpose Simply, is for you to always leave a song in every Heart. ENJOY! Godspeed.
