Talla Desh Man Eater by Jim Corbett (Re-recorded w/ Epilogue) | Adventure Audiobook | Audiostory
Ойын-сауық
The story of the Talla Desh Man-Eater is an extraordinary tale of grit and tenacity, featuring some of the finest prose by Jim Corbett. Mr. Corbett paints a delightful picture of the rich biodiversity and natural beauty of the Kumaon region, his home for most of his life, along with weaving a nail-biting narrative of his hunt for the devilishly elusive tiger.
True to his style, Mr. Corbett astutely manages to keep the tone of the story modest, showing respect for both the animals involved and the simple but hardy villagers, whom he loved and lived with.

Re-recording this story, one of the finest by Mr. Corbett, was high on my to-do list for some time and I finally got around to it. The audio issues that plagued the earlier recording, much to my chagrin, have been fixed and I hope this new version will do some justice to this incredible tale. I aimed to have it uploaded by the 25th of July, 2022 (Mr. Corbett's 147th birth anniversary), but I missed the mark by a couple of days. Thank you all for the support and interest that you have shown in these audiobooks and audio stories.

Bravo!! 👏 Very well done! Thank you for taking your time to upload another one for us. I cannot imagine the time it took record and edit! Worth every wait. I did not have a great upbringing and I would always read these stories by myself without having anyone else to read them to me in my early childhood years. Reading these books was always an escape to a whole different world of adventures! It’s great to know that there’s more people who still read these classics! Amazing! Thank you. ❤️

Thanks for sharing your personal experience and story with us. Your courage and honesty is admirable.
I listen too these audiobooks every night since I discovered your channel many months ago. They are fascinating, enthralling, compelling, enjoyable and terrifying all at once. Dont know if Mr Corbett was crazy or just reckless at times but he was without doubt one of the bravest men to ever walk this earth, as he rightly pointed out himself at the end of this story, there are very few men who would even think about hunting (on foot) an injured animal that has the killing power of a tiger. You’ve done great job on these books, thank you for your effort 👍🏻.

My thoughts on her playing dead are most likely that someone had taken a shot at it before it's line of thought was probably that the hunter was fixing to come down very hurriedly to its kill and that's when it wanted to strike. Yes tigers and bears can be that smart.

I wouldn't know but as far as I understand this would be a tough, back country trek with very little paved trails or proper roads even today. Atleast we have maps and navigation now but I always wonder how Corbett and others like him in those days traversed such locations on foot and managed to not get lost in the wilderness. Just incredible to think about. Check out a channel by the name of UK Rover if you're interested in the areas mentioned in the story.
I fired a .275 Roberts Varmint rifle a coupla times. Man, you'd have to get a " Lucky Shot" to stop a big critter like a Tigress ! Terminate, I mean .....
