It just shows how Fenomeno was in a class of his own. Maldini, widely considered as the best defender ever, could not stop the Phenomenon. He is the best player i have ever seen to this day, by far! Young Ronaldo, from 1994 to 1999, is probably the best footballer that has ever existed.

Among the football greats, those 3 are the only ones we can classify as absolute geniuses in football history. Every other football legend is below them. Desailly got it right.

I heard that Maldini had actually stopped R9 and that in an interview he was scared of someone else actually.

When comes about R9, i always remember my son (14 y.o). One day, he came to me and said "dad, i think the best football player who ever walk on earth is Messi, second to none", so i simply said "maybe because you never saw how Ronaldo Nazario on the pitch". And then, he run the youtube, looking for Ronaldo. And when he found the video when Ronaldo makes fun of Salgado, he turn it on over and over again..😅😅 then he came to me and said "dad, i think he's not even a human".. 😂😂😂

Ronaldo fenomeno was beyond everything he play against Maldini /Desailly /Nesta/ Ayala /Cafu/Aldair/Thuram /Canavaro/Costacurta/Ferrara... In a time when calcio was the hardest championship in the world with the Best defender of the world. Man R9 was so superior that he play against this guys like they are local guys that's how stratospheric he was !!!

Can’t these ignorant Messi & Cristiano fans just get it to their heads? You see all these legends rank R9 as the best, it’s not about hating on Cris & Messi, R9 was that good. Also, R9 was humble, that made people love him even more, he never fought on the pitch, never dove, nothing. Look at Cristiano he is almost 40 year old and gets triggered when people chant Messi’s name.

If we were judging only on pace , people would argue bale but R9 had pace and technique he could dribble 5 man in front of him at incredible pace, unreal player the changes of direction at such pace hard to replicate VERY HARD

The bad thing like you said was that he never won the UCL. If he had been able to win it, he would undoubtedly actually be the greatest to ever grace the game. Every time the team he played for got eliminated from the tournament, it was because he wasn’t there due to injuries. Respects to you 🫡

That era is considered the hardest /toughest, also to be breaking records and becoming the youngest to win trophies you can't put any player in that level you actually can't and iv tried 🤣

I appreciate every legend no matter what era but if I have to choose who showed he was the best player ever on the pitch, it has to be The Phenomenon. I've never seen anyone have that complete package of skill, intelligence, speed and strength.

To me one of caziest things is that he could run between two! players from the oponent team and still could running with the ball. It's something like: well you can try to stop me but you can't do it real because I will run between you meanwhile you want to tackle me. That's impressive.
