Dr3ad's characterization of the two types of casuals was spot on. (at 30 mins ish)
I used to love dread but i had to unfollow him due to his negative Attitude it got old and when he made a video hating on aaron for warlock week was super childish
Dang I have watched a bunch of both these guys videos and content for LE. Hopefully things look up soon! I love the game and its got some AWESOME creators.
The last time POE did a 3 month cycle was 3.18 (May-Aug of 2022) - 4 month since then

genuinely didn't know that! thanks for the heads up lol
Well as someone whose lights and groceries don't depend on LE, I'm pretty happy with this long cycle. I only got into LE in january, so my to-do list for 1.0 was longer than it will be for 1.1 (depending on patch magnitude) and I simply can't play as much as you guys. I sympathize with your wish to have LE and PoE leagues staggered, but there isn't much you can do about the attention span of the average gamer. If they feel done after unlocking empowered monos on one character, there is simply no chance for EHG or any other studio to provide new content that fast.
I could listen to ya'll talk about the game for hours man I love this series and the podcast. I know Dr3ad loves this game and wasn't trying to bad-mouth it in any way, he's just in a very unique situation financially and can't stick around for these low-lows that the game might experience as it establishes a further foothold. But competition is 100% necessary and positive for the genre, I'm stoked that there are so many doing well now and I don't doubt EHG will continue to yoink solid mechanics and innovate on them as they have already, we're chilling, but Dr3ad doesn't have time to wait for that major uptick. I'm the ignorant demographic you described coming into the game relatively fresh 🤣 The narrative made more sense to me than the balance of the game initially (I joined in during the latter half of 0.9.2) and I'm not ignorant to game balance and min-maxing, I've successfully raided at a mythic level in WoW for years now so it kind of comes with the territory lol. But we're getting there, learning a lot from you guys! Thanks for the content gentleman!
Dread is maried for almost a year already wow
Just play games whenever you want, who cares if other gamers, streamers or youtubers are playing the other current thing. Enjoy the game at it's current state rather than waiting for the 'perfect' patch. Take breaks when you need, do other hobbies and that's how you prevent burnout.

s-tier advice
I used to love poe 1 its just a bloated mess now so i'd play LE over POE any day
I put 500 odd hours into Last Epoch over a few years of beta and for the foreseeable future that's where it'll stay, I think. You said it very well, the new content is too little, too late, and my main concerns are addressed nowhere. Worth mentioning as well that the laissez-faire approach to game balance is really, really sore. From having had the privilege to chat with EHG a lot, it feels like there exists this idea that is completely separate from , when it's quite the opposite: every and any player is affected when "overpowered" becomes "expected" and half the classes you can select are dismissed as unviable. Maybe you can totally ignore the haters and roll up a forge guard, that's great, but that sadly doesn't work for me as community involvement is part of the fun.
I hope LE does well, and it probably will til the POE league at least. But really I'm excited for PoE 2
I've loved LE for a long time but ward has made the game a bit boring. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do going forward but it's no longer my main game.
He makes a good point. Soon LE will have to compete with POE 2, POE 1, and D4. A lot of time will be covered with back to back Poe seasons. There’s a lot of overlap there for ARPG players.
dread sounds so emo but i guarantee his entire tune will change when they start teasing changes for next cycle
I understand the sort of doom and gloom but it's just that the game needs fun endgame repeatable content to have a healthy community and make content creation viable in the long run. Diablo 4 was the same before season 4 because endgame content was horrendous to play. Last Epoch is missing proper endgame content period, hopefully cycle 1 will fix that to some extent. I get the frustration but I don't think it's an attitude to have that will get you anywhere either.

Not really doom and gloom - that's how Dread has always spoken and come across ;)
I can't relate to this podcast.

that's okay
LE has a problem: new content is way better than old content. Currently Monoliths are old content, yet critical content. I'm not interested in the game until 1.3 when they said they'll modernize Monoliths a bit.

it's like they're paving a road; instead of pulling out the old broken parts and replacing them, they're pouring asphalt over the top and pretending like it'll fill in all the gaps and make everything fine. And brother, it's one bumpy road we're drivin'

@@torgor_ Nah bro they just got better and they can't replace everything at once, though I question why a pinnacle boss was the priority for 1.1.
Never played POE. Never knew it was the origin of “pinnacle.” Huh
POE 2 Early Access is November
I think things like races, events and more endgame content can make thoses big gaps btw updates feel smaller if they dont start releasing it more often. As of right now i feel like they are still "completing the game" and its unfurtunate that i still feel that way after 1.0. I also didnt felt that the game was ready for release when they announced it and time is just confirming this for me. Still love the game but totally get dread's point.
