It is an official language, though it originates from Moselle Franconian (as do regional Dutch dialects) and has quite an amount of German loanwords (though there also often is an actual Luxemburgish term for the word in question). Luxembourg has three official administrative languages, including German and French, besides Luxemburgish, but German speakers do not understand Luxemburgish (aside from those who live near the border, who'll contextually understand enough to communicate, I guess, but that the same in a lot of countries where languages of the same origin are spoken).

Actually, Luxembourg used to rule the contest. It has won about five times, I think so and in general all of their entries have been that good, such as Lara Fabian, who participated in 1988.

I think Luxembourg should qualify for the final especially because the competition in Semi Final 1 is very weak. In the final should do mid table in my view.
