I was there June 2024 in Macedonia, Col. The river flows a lot faster than I imagined. We jumped in and had to swim pretty hard to keep from drifting down river. Lots of "islotes" or floating islands of vegetation constantly floating by. 'If you've never been there it's worth every cent to see/experience the immensity of it...before it it's totally destroyed.

TR Junior was the only general in the U.S. Army to land on the Normandy beach under fire on D-Day. Died of a heart attack within a month.

Hello! I'm from Brazil and I have to thank a few people from the US: Larry Rohter, who spent 4 years researching for his biography about Cândido Rondon, PBS for the "Into the Amazon" AE episode and Theodore Roosevelt for demanding the National Geographic Society to also laureate Rondon for the expedition. I have a question: Roosevelt was a man of his time and held a lot of views that nowadays are considered "incorrect". I find those views wrong but I know they were commonplace during his time and that should not be used against him. On the PBS film it's mentioned Roosevelt was impressed with the way Rondon interact with the indigenous populations. My question is if the experience changed some of Roosevelt's views about indigenous peoples. Thanks!

TR couldn't take Quentin because he died in WWI. Kermit committed suicide in middle age after struggling with alcoholism from the time he got back from the Amazon.
