"Fluttershy's job isn't really important" I'd beg to differ, Animal care is INCREDIBLY important, especially if the animal was raised in captivity. Fluttershy basically runs an animal shelter, with how Rainbow went to her to adopt a pet, so she NEEDS to take care of the animals. I know for a fact that animals- especially social ones like parrots, will HARM THEMSELVES if their left alone for too long, It's less of a problem for Fluttershy because of the sheer amount of animals she takes care of but the point still stands.

My theory on how the musical numbers work: When someone begins singing a song from their heart, the natural harmony magic inside them spreads to others and unites them, telling them what to do and how to do it. This is further supported by Rainbow Rocks, where there was a scene that established Twilight couldn't sing and then she begins singing well in the final song. The harmony magic in the first song wasn't strong, and didn't connect to her friends, while in the last song it was stronger.

+Kylee Jones I'd chalk that up to nerves rather than being bad at singing. She did a solo number in Magical Mystery Cure about how "everything was going to be fine." When the fate of the world rest upon your ability to write a good song I'd say that would screw you up and prevent you from using your true potential.

4:00 Why didn't Equestria give Griffonstone aid? I'd say the most likely reason is that the Griffons refused help out of pride. Maybe they would have taken help in the form of pure bits, but aid most likely would have been food, supplies, etc., and from what we've seen, I doubt Griffons would be keen on admitting to needing a pony's aid.

Josh was killed by the Autarch in his Mmmystery on the Friendship Express review. During a post-credit scene, we see (or, rather, hear) Josh talking to Hades, whereupon we learn that Josh gained a new ability: to transfer his original consciousness to any one of his clones whenever he feels like it. So, every version of Firebrand or Fiery Joker we see from then on were technically ALL clones. Perhaps Josh just moved his consciousness to the other clone during the "AMERICA!!!" cutaway.

I honestly hope that Starlight Glimmer NEVER gets redeemed because it would be great to finally have a villain on this show that's not a villain because they're pure evil per say, but rather because they simply have different ideologies that constantly put them in mane 6's opposition. Because let's be honest here, most bad people in real life don't see themselves as being bad people, so it would be great to simply have a villain that doesn't see themselves as the threat, but rather they deem the mane 6 a threat because of differing ideologies. that's why I sincerely hope she never gets reformed.

On the first viewing of this episode, I have to admit that I was pretty neutral, though leaning towards the lower end to the spectrum. Then your review helped me see all the details and thoughts put into developing it. Thank you for helping me appreciate just how nicely developed and well thought out the episode was.

Ponyfinder got here first. Just saying, our griffons were crazy combinations of any cat and any bird, with their own culture, with their own... stolen artifact... Man, this episode was kind of amazing for how much of Ponyfinder suddenly got close to canon.

Wanilla Sweet I highly doubt animal abuse like that would be present in mlp. You say Fluttershy is saving animals, but from what? Not being able to feed themselves? In a realistic situation, that would be exactly why you aren't supposed to domesticate wild animals in the first place. When you domesticate wild animals, they are unable to care for themselves in the wild properly. If Fluttershy is saving them from anything, it's what she, herself, had caused in the first place.

You've never been wrong about so many things before, what happened man? The big and obvious one would be the bit where you call getting the Idol "the last entry of known Griffonstone lore". The Idol was brought in by the first Griffon King. The last entry in Twilight's _really old_ history book that was about an already bygone era of greatness is the coronation of the 14th King. The other one that really got mu goat was the bizarre logic leading to using the Equestria Games to conclude that Ponyville is a city-state. As opposed to noticing that, since the name apparently isn't big enough a clue, that the Games being a competition between the towns of Equestria makes the Games a national event, not an international one. There's been smaller stuff like the complete failure to notice that Griffonstone is clearly stated to be *in Equestria*, and not just in modern times - the old Griffon Kingdom was already part of Equestria. Or the notion that it cut itself from the rest of the world. Nothing like that is mentioned in the episode. For goodness sake, they have a rail line directly to the bottom of the mountain. The idea that the fall of the Kingdom was "about a generation" ago is likewise out of nowhere and weird. Gilda openly doubts the Idol's existence with her grandpa _right there_. He hears it and... does not react the way you'd expect him to if the Idol was still around during his lifetime. The Idol's old enough history that some griffons believe in it and others don't. Combined with the book thing above, I'm putting the loss of the Idol at about 2-3 centuries ago. The part where you call Gilda's baking a hobby is also quite wierd. It's her job. She says she's selling the scones to get the money to get out of Griffonstone. Gilda is a baker by trade. Incidentally, one of the griffons in the EQ Games representation is from Griffonstone. She's visible in the shot with the tiger griffon, in the top-right corner. Given that it's a competition between Equestrian towns, that was the Griffonstone representation.

schpeelah None of what you said explains why Griffinstone is a "total dump". If it was always in Equestria and that they didn't cut off from the rest of it, then why didn't the ponies help them. And no, Ponies are racist against all non ponies is not an acceptable answer. Nobody from Hasbro or the Mlp staff stated or implied that that is true. Either the disarray is 100% the Griffins own fault or this a badly written episode.
