I actually like their cutie marks. Each one is made up of three parts: The shield that represents the three of them as a group, a star, an apple, and a wing, indicating their individual races, and a musical note, a heart, and a lightning bolt, indicating a special ability of each of them as individuals. It rather effectively shows who each of these ponies are, together, in society, and individually. I like it.

I personally think their marks are two talents. I forget who explain the theory at the top of my head but I love it. You see the shield is their talent of the cmc as it has all their mane colors in it and such. But they each have their own symbol inside. Scootaloo has a lighting bolt, similar to rainbow dash's sweetie has music note for singing and applebloom had the apple. When it's broken down they have two marks each. One that binds them but one that shows how different they are

I thought their cutie marks were supposed to represent how a cutie mark is found. The Apple, Star, and Wing represented their natural magic (earth pony, unicorn, and pegasus respectively). The symbol inside represented their talent; Apple Bloom has a talent of bringing things together (a heart), sweetie belle has a strong voice that is always heard (a musical note), and Scootaloo has a talent for always acting quickly and inspiring (a lightning bolt). The shields just represent the way they want to use their talents. (Kinda like a life goal.) At least that's what I think...

That's what I thought as well when I saw this episode. I actually thought that was pretty clever, giving them a double-sided mark that showed both their individual talents and their CMC talent, whereas if they went either one way or the other, it would have felt somewhat disappointing.

Whether Spoiled Rich actually listened to her daughter seems up in the air to me. What's important about the scene that would make her more open to appearing agreeable is the audience present at the time, including Miss Cheerilee, a figure of authority in the school. We see clearly earlier that Spoiled Rich is all about appearances, so naturally she would do whatever is necessary to save face, even if that entails eating crow.

Also, to be fair to the writers, I do think they realized the issue with Scootaloo. I feel like that was part of why Gabby was later introduced, to show how Scootaloo fits into the new dynamic of the group.

Exactly, reviewers seem to treat stuff like this as some, perfect, forever solving the issue for all time panacea, versus, just looking at that one precise moment. If anything Spoiled was just so dumbstruck over Diamond talking back to her, she didn't know how to respond and just nodded in agreement while her brain tried to reboot. Who knows how this went in the long run and what this could have led to, it wasn't "Neatly fixing everything" it was just one step along that road.

Well, considering Diamond is happily interacting with other fillies "below her station" in future episodes, it's safe to assume her home life has at least somewhat improved.

The CMC's marks have the CMC shield as well as some of their talents and personalities. Scootaloo has a wing and a lightning bolt, Apple Bloom a heart and an apple, and Sweetie Belle a star and a music note.

I absolutely adore this episode. Sure, it's somewhat rushed, but I love the songs and how poetic it is that Diamond Tiara, who's the one responsible for creating the CMC in the first place by bullying Apple Bloom for being a blank flank, was also the key to them getting their cutie marks. It has flaws, to be sure. But I love this episode nonetheless.

It's actually rather funny, given diamonds are rather fragile and can very easily shatter if hit right. The same rigidity that makes them unable to be scratched, also means no room for absorb impacts.

I cried and jumped up and down when they got their marks 😭 such a good day. It was 9ish at night and I was about to go to bed but I decided I could watch one more episode. I went in spoiler free and I was screaming! I woke up my mom telling her they got their marks. I called my dad. They were both very excited for me. I was so excited and I didn't know what to do. 😂

Scootaloo had immense personal growth to even say "I don't care if I *ever* get my cutie mark!", coming a long way from 'This namby-pamby feelgood stuff isn't getting us our marks". Naturally, the moment she decided she didn't need to achieve her goal, she found what she was looking for.

i kindof like how this handled Diamond Tiara's fall and reformation it kind of reminds be of something said in Avatar:Legend of Korra "when we hit our lowest point,we are open to the greatest change"-Avatar Aang i loved this episode,even despite not being a big CMC fan,the only downside to this is the ending could be seen a mile away (at least for me) in my experience,if a MLP episode has several songs,one practically after another you know something big is going to happen.and if im not mistaken ( Crusaders of the lost mark has more songs than any other episode)

But in the movie he is acting very smug not considering her feelings where is I think in the flashback if they want to get them right he should've said well you have one more chance if you can't give me the payment by this time so and so then the land is mine and then not have it be so grumpy when she does actually managed to pay him. I wish they'd make underpowered weapons like the Sharpened Volcano Fragment, Righteous Bison, any Heavy primary that isn't Sasha or Tomislav, and others better instead of nerfing the good stuff to their level. The Ringer won't be entirely useless after Pyro, but the increased amount of time it'll take from feign to feign will make Spies much easier to kill. As a Heavy main, 70% of DR Spies are cannon fodder to me. the other 30% provide a fun, interesting challenge to keep track of and kill. I'm going to miss that, to be honest. And I'm under the opinion the nerf is a bit harsh. It got off scott free compared to the poor, poor Ambassador though. Not gonna miss that thing, lol. Also thanks for making my weird dream of having a TF2 discussion in the comment section of a pony video come true. Have some cookies.

Airblasting is fine, in my opinion. It's probably one of the more balanced things in the game at the moment. The Dead Ringer, while able to provide a good challenge to better players, is admittedly a little bit broken. I just wish they would have reduced the amount of cloak gained from ammo instead of removing it entirely.

I don't feel bad for Diamond Tiara at all, but I love her sad song as it fits very well with other characters both in & out of M.L.P. FiM.

Listening to Diamond's lyrics in the song they make me both sad and worried about her yet at the same time very scared of her. She's in a mindset where she has to do whatever it takes to succeed regardless of the cost and she doubles down on it. The look of anguish on her face when she says the meaning of her fall, then the shutting of the eyes and the grim look of determination afterword implies she is fully aware of the consequences of failure. At the same time it also sounds like she would do anything to win and I do mean anything. It's really terrifying to imagine a child with that mindset and wonder what they could be capable of when they're older

3:25-4:19 was one of the funniest skits I've ever seen on this series. Definite top 3, every part meshed together so well, leading up to the hilarious moment of irony at the end. Well played.

I used to think that I liked this episode for the "wrong" reasons, in that I liked it the most not for their mark, but for that we were never gonna have to endure Diamond Tiara's antics again. I like the cutie marks, I feel like they show that while everyone has a talent, you still have a choice on what you do. They literally made their cutie marks. They decided that their friendship was a part of who they were and wanted to be. The shield represented that, while the emblem showed the talent of each.

I totally agree about pinkies pride, but I put this episode above magical mystery cure. MMC uses the songs as an excuse to rush the plot along, whereas this episode(while still rushed) uses them to highlight the pre-established emotions.

I loved this episode deeply. I'm more into this episode in the fact of watching these young characters grow up (became a fan between S1 and S2). That's not something some older cartoons/tv shows did. And, I may like one or two songs from those other episodes you mentioned, but I almost have this whole episode on a playlist (hell, I don't even care for "Winter Wrap Up" or "What My Cutie Mark is Telling Me"). But to be fair, while these songs are great, I will occasionally skip them on my drive to work, still. Also I'm slightly biased on this episode because it happened on my b-day.

I have not yet seen these people in the hate category. Personally, I love all three but I love Pinkie Pride and Magical Mystery Cure more. I enjoyed the songs more, and I don't really care about the election in CotLM.

Here's your end-all answer to the cutie mark situation: MAGIC! No argument, just MAGIC!

I love josh reaction on the cmc getting their butt stickers

The CMCs basically have 2 CM each. The Tri-colored shield representing the CMC unification as a purpose, and the individual center symbols, (what looks like a feather with a lightning bolt inside for SL, a heart with an apple inside for AB , and a star with a musical note inside for SB) probably representing a second talent each pony can also dedicate their lives too. The double layered CM I believe was the reason behind the “Beast transformation “ level of flashy, where other ponies have gotten theirs with considerably less pomp and circumstance ! Hopefully we get an episode before series finally that actually explains CMs, and gives attention to the apparent double CMs the CMCs got!

I called it. I predicted their cutie marks correctly. I posted a vid about it and everything before the episode aired. Also, I have to disagree on some level about their cutie marks not fitting all of them. The biggest complaint about the CMC's methods was that they were trying random things instead of focusing on what they already know to get a cutie mark. But, in the end, they did try the thing that ends up being their destiny over and over again. They work together as friends to overcome obstacles.

You don't HAVE to be the exact same as your friends in order to be friends with them. Matthew Dahl While that is true, they haven't regressed to their season one selves. If anything, they're even closer and more mature now than ever. And actually having cutie marks has turned their destructive crusades into productive adventures while allowing them to finally branch out their talents, such as Scootaloo and bungie jumping, Sweetie Belle and crochet, and Apple Bloom and dance.

There is incorporation of their individual talents! Sweetie Bell has a star with a music note. Applebloom has an apple with a heart in it. Scootallo has a wing with a lightning bolt. I also like the music, too, and find it quite catchy.

Are you kidding me Josh? I absolutely loved every song in this episode. Every. Single. One. My favorite being "Light of Your Cutie Mark" with the reprise of "We'll Make Our Mark". Come on. Seriously? You didn't think ANY of those songs were good and memorable?

Something to consider when it came to the CMC is that I think a lot of people like myself got hung up on the cutie marks and just like in showstoppers we are we “thought“ we knew what the key marks were going to be. We also missed the key arc of the CMC from the very beginning. Getting the key marks was only a singular goal in their entire point in the series which was children growing up and maturing after all the cutie marks are only a sign of maturing. That’s why throughout the rest of the series they’re not really giving a new goal to strive for because every single one of their morals and challenges have been about growing up even the final CMC episode is them getting a chance to grow up before they’re ready and realizing that much like with the marks these things take time and mustn’t be rushed.

15 : 51-53 That is where you are wrong. Yes, the CMC's Cutie Marks as a whole represent their destiny for the most part. However, their previously shown talents ARE used! Apple Bloom: Potions Sweetie Belle: Singing Scootaloo: Scooter stunts CMC: Helping ponies find/reconnect with their cutie marks.

And just to be clear, I know all the songs of this episode by memory. I am one of those who thinks that there's absolutely nothing wrong with this episode outside of the animation errors. I've watched this episode so many times that if I made episode analysis, I would yell for three hours about how amazing everything is.

Another two analysts who didn´t see that the marks are not just blank shields. The talents are incorporated in them.

I'll admit here, I had the same fears about their marks at first. My first worry was that, well, they'd all be the same. I would be nervous about this, if not for the marks inside the shields. Each one is unique to them and showcases something integral to them. Scootaloo has a bolt of lightning similar to that of Rainbow Dash's, showing she'll always strive to be a great flier and push hard for it. Sweetie Belle has always had the talent in singing, hence the note. Honestly if anything I'm a bit more upset at AppleBloom. She showed a massive talent for building and construction, and she got an apple. I get it's apart of her family, but even still it feels like she should've gotten something with an actual hammer in it, maybe behind the apple. Plus, I think the point of them having the same shield is to emphasize that it's the fact they all tried together and learned together that brought them together. So in turn, their marks reflect that. They've the CMC, and that means more than just finding their cutie marks. They were best friends who did everything they could together, and their marks reflect that. Their destinies will be entwined with helping ponies find their cutie marks, and that is important. I do appreciate that you presented your opinion without attacking those who liked it. I see a lot of reviewers do that and it's nice to hear it. It's an awesome video ^^.

Five and a half seasons in, and silver spoon finally grows a back bone and a personality. And yet, she's still my second least favorite character in the show. On a different Note, if this episode had been the ending of the whole series, I would have been okay with that.

11:11 I have a better excuse; it's because that the crusaders are trying to show Diamond Tiara a better and much happier way of living, and it's reflected in the lighthearted nature of their parts of the song. Boom.

Liked it. Nothing exceptional besides open the door for proper developments. Also the marks are like a coat of arms for real crusaders: they're a crest with a unique insignia that represents each of them as members.

Now if only DT had a speaking line after this we haven't really seen any of the aftermath of DT's reformation

This "dingus" said that Scootaloo's cutie mark doesn't match her personality nor destiny, that she was like Rainbow Dash, who received her mark because it was her destiny to be a champion, yet Scootaloo's destiny is apparently to help others with their marks. Open your ears.

joshscorcher I was going to bring up this point as well, though not in such a jerkish manner. The CMC's Cutie Marks were earned with a realization that they wanted to work together to help other ponies with their special talents, but as the CMC taught us themselves, Cutie Mark can be interpreted in many ways. The different symbols inside their Cutie Marks represent individual talents that the CMC have - Apple Bloom's affinity for plants, Sweetie Belle's star-powered voice, Scootaloo's speed and athleticism - while the outer shield represents what the Cutie Mark Crusaders learned, that whatever they do, they should do it together (all their colours) for the benefit of others (the shield design). For now, they're helping others with their Cutie Marks, but I find it likely that in the future, the CMC will use their individual talents together in unison to help other ponies.

Correct if I'm wrong but didn't Rainbow receive her cutie mark by standing up and defending Fluttershy via a race? (yes I know it was the race but RD also used that as some motivation). And also remembering how Scootaloo was introduced as being the first to stand up to Diamond Tiara and protect Applebloom and seeing some recent episodes leads me to believe Scootaloo is very empathetic so that personality trait could be very helpful in helping others with cutie marks problems. It also doesn't help that their cutie marks have 3 layers that effectively makes it hard to point to 1 special talent.
