Before his passing, my husband was placed on Harvoni, a drug to cure Hep C. The dosage is 1 pill per day for 12 weeks. The cost: $96,000.00 in 2016. The same treatment in foreign countries, approximately $900.00 US. I had to spend all our savings on various prescription co-pays and file bankruptcy after his passing due solely to medical expenses after Medicare, a secondary insurance plan and a suplimemental Prescription drug plan.

I'm so sorry for your loss. If my late husband hadn't been a union member (International Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers) I would have been in a similar situation. On the other hand, he probably got the cancer from toxins he was exposed to on the job. So there we are. Hang tough.

@kathleenandrews8171 thank you. Funny - my husband also worked for a railroad on the track department until he was injured in '98. Our union was/is not as strong as the IBRE. I understand the chemical exposures - I also worked on the track department at one time.

The audience needs a microphone. We can't hear the questions. As a Canadian, I am glad for your citizens that you both, and others, are working on this. It is the right thing to do. Greed for too high profits is wrong and harmful. A company's prioritizing profits over the wellbeing of their customers/citizens results in the suffering and death of people. Speaking to the company decision-makers, I want to say, "These people, who you don't know, are just like you. If you choose to act this way, how do you live with yourself? Whatever you need to do to dumb yourself to the suffering of others is harmful to you and your loved ones. Doing the right thing enriches your own life as well as everyone's else's. The other day I was in a group and we were asked who was our hero, and to make it more interesting, we were asked if we could be more like them, as we obviously wanted, would we mind also looking more like them. Long story. But, my hand shot up, and when acknowledged I said Bernie Sanders! Being a middle aged woman I thought it would get some laughs, but instead I got applause... Thank you Bernie. You.are.amazing. my hero, my role model, and I'd feel privileged to be your doppelganger.

An Illinois native, I opened my Chicago newspaper in August 1963, and there was the (still-in-circulation) photo of this slight young man with a lot of brown hair (!). He was being "helped" to the ground by a policeman for marching against segregated schools in the city. The NAACP got him out of jail the next day, and he promptly helped organize a busload of folks to D.C. for MLK's famous March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Since then, Bernie Sanders has been on the correct side of All the issues most important to me, including civil, economic, environmental, gender, racial and social rights. #NotMeUs

In a sane world, Biden would drop out and endorse you!

Keep up the fight no person should be extorted when it comes to prescription drugs or vital medical care.

Other countries are shocked that there are pharmaceuticals being advertised in the US. We pay too much for drugs, yet these companies run countless ads, which cost millions, to feed their greed. Step up US gov't! Thank you Mr. Sanders!

I worked for a large healthcare insurance company as a medical economics consultant. My time there taught me that pharmaceutical companies have more leverage over costs than patients, doctors or the insurance company itself. Plenty of times I analyzed pharma costs and was dumbfounded by the increases on medications folks need (not desire but need per a physician order). It was not unheard of for Brand drugs to only be referred 10% to 15% of the time but account for more than 50% of the costs associated with pharma expense. Time after time I was told I could not see the pharma rebates associated with those high cost meds despite the fact I could see anyone’s diagnostic HIPPA related confidential data I was never granted the ability to see how rebates would steal money from patients to fuel corporate greed by undercutting patients out of the negotiation table. Healthcare is a mess with pharma - better to rely on natural herbal and holistic medicine with healthy active lifestyle. Dont trust pharma!

My older sister worked for Bank of America right after college and when she was working for them, she went back to school and got her masters in finance and supply chain management. She entered at Toyota. I think in Ohio and she raised awareness at Bank of America about climate change and people with disabilities, and she has disabilities herself my little sister’s husband comes from a family of scientists. He is an auditor. And accountant at Wells Fargo bank and he has disabilities to my family is not a billionaire family and we do help people in need as much as we can. We donate to democrats campaigns the most We’re also very musical family. We deal with each other’s mental health issues together and my other sister’s husband is a construction worker he builds apartments and homes and he does maintenance work on the side and a lot of the money they make. They donate to the churches and two others.

So, when I heard about the Dexcom G6, smart meter I have my doctor primary doctor fill out the prescription but I found out it’s only for people who are on insulin and I’m not on insulin and I have type 2 diabetes and I asked my insurance carrier would they cover it and they said they would if my doctor fills out the right bin number and all that other stuff and my doctor did I go to pick it up from my local CVS and found out that my insurance denied it because it’s originally designed for people who are on insulin only and I was really upset because I’m not on insulin I used to be where I was first diagnosed in my 20s, but I worked really hard and got off insulin so now i’m at a point where I don’t need to use insulin anymore but I still wanna use that particular mirror so I don’t have to prick my finger and draw blood

Another thing my family does the gift bag is zoo memberships and we go to Sue’s a lot because that’s what I like to do and every time we go to a zoo or aquarium. I’ll tell them what I know about a certain species of animal in my own way, so my family is not a billionaire family like the Trump family. My family helps people in need and they take care of me because I have disabilities and so do a lot of people in my family they do my taxes for me we all pay our taxes every year and my parents handle my taxes for me because I have a disability and they’re my rep payee and even when I do work I don’t make a whole lot of money and they see me try to support myself before and something always happens medically
