When he says "Mr. President", he's addressing the President of the Senate, not the POTUS. We also cannot see the rest of the chamber. Aside from that, these speeches are not during normal Senate sessions. There are special time periods set aside for speeches like this by various Senators which will not be heard by the full assembly but do go on the Senate's official record.

Fighting genocide isn’t antisemitism. Its the law, internationally. I oppose Russia's action in the Ukraine that caused the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians. I am not anti-Russian. I am antI - genocide irrespective of who is committing the genocides. I am currently watching Ken Burn's documentary on the holocaust and strangely enough I am relating to it because what is happening in Gaza by Israel as they concentrate populations for extermination. But Jews in general should not be a target. Many Jews find what is happening as abhorrent. My wife's Rabbi is raising funds to help the starving children of Gaza. But what is really going on here. Why is Israel acting like the Nazis? The Israeli philosopher Yeshayahu Leibowitz introduced the term "Judeo-Nazis." He argued that continued military occupation of the Palestinian territories would lead to the moral degradation of Israeli Defense Force (IDF), with individuals committing atrocities for state security interests. In 1988, Holocaust survivor Yehuda Elkana warned that the tendency in Israel to see all potential threats as existential and all opponents as Nazis would lead to Nazi-like behavior by Jews. During the First Intifada, historian Omer Bartov was enraged by Yitzhak Rabin's call to "break the bones" of Palestinians and wrote him a letter arguing that, based on Bartov's research, the IDF could be similarly brutalized as the German Army was during World War II. One Israeli nationalist told Amos Oz that he did not care if Israel was called a Judeo-Nazi state, it was "better [to be] a living Judeo-Nazi than a dead saint." In 2018, Noam Chomsky cited Leibowitz, arguing that he was right in his prediction that the occupation was producing Judeo-Nazis. The U.S. is Israel's greatest enemy, not HAMAS or any other terrorist group, for its unconditional support of Israel reducing it to become a spoiled child of the U.S., uncontrolled and brazen. Do what you can. I leave comments to the POTUS and VPOTUS at Whitehouse.gov regarding the genocide being perpetrated by Israel, for whatever good that does. At least they know I’m very displeased with their actions and inactions and I consider their rhetoric empty and misleading. My own Rep is often on the wrong side, due to being from a heavily gerrymandered state. So I financially support Representatives who are on the conscientious side on this and many other issues, even though they are not from my district, most not from my state. I do so for primary challengers I believe in, within my state and without, at all levels of government. I can’t give much each month, but every bit helps. I also financially support aid groups and independent media channels who give air time to exposing the crimes being committed. People and groups like World Central Kitchen, MSF, UNRWA (I started that after the US government ceased its contributions and it became very obvious the allegations against it were unsubstantiated and very likely a pack of lies), Owen Jones, Democracy Now!, The Majority Report, The Guardian, and The Intercept. Even liking the videos they post and subscribing to their channels help them if you can’t give them money. There are many who do more, often much more. Do what you can. It’s better than doing nothing.

Thank you Senator, for highlighting the facts and taking a stand for all innocents.

There were 3 Democrats and 15 Republicans who held on to their convictions, and refused to vote for the mind boggling $95 BILLION "foreign aid bill." The 3 Dems who voted against it were listed, but not the names of the 15 Republicans. I've been trying to find out who stood strong and didn't cave.

It is so refreshing to listen to someone speak so eloquently backed up with data and facts. Bernie deserved a shot at the presidency.

Mr. Sanders named some surprising truths here. Israel wanted Hamas to take full control of Gaza, splitting Palestinians in two regions, and imposed a blockade since 2007 to make sure they became two totally separate people. Along with taking parts of the West Bank, bit by bit, year after year.

As soon as the conflict with Russia broke out, it became a champion of democracy, praised by all, even if Zelensky canceled the presidential elections with the excuse of war. I think it's a bit more shaded than that it's the Ultra right, nationalist that embrace the Religious fundamentalists who loath even their own secular and moderate citizens. Sound familiar? Netinyahou and Hamas are two arms of the same bird .. xenophobia and zealotry racism are the stock in trade of political and religious authoritarianism. Netinyahou and his authoritarian govt was in deep trouble with the General population and ex service personnel before the Hamas attack. In fact stand off a little way and you can see that they effectively rescued each other but that's the standard modus operandi of political/ religious sectarianism. It remains a twisted nerve in the human species ... and once one side deploys it becomes .... well atrocity breeds atrocity.. on through time. This is a repeating phenomena. That's even without what we know about epigenetics. As for weapons just think about the genocide that was fired up in Rwanda Africa between the Huthi and the Tutsi.. tens of thousands were killed tortured and masacred by their neighbours with hand tools men women and children... In the space of a week. The only answer is to remove the instigators on both sides from the equation..Political Religious and social... and remove the propaganda triggers from future generations and let them see who, how and why certain individuals and groups always attempt to trigger that side of human nature. Unless you can, get people to question, listen and think critically and from multiple perspectives, especially long term you are going to be constantly dealing with those who always see differences as a tool to control and empower themselves or their group.
