    I don't usually comment out on videos. But, honestly speaking, it made me so happy that you took your dad to pick up this truck. I'm pretty sure that he'll super happy to his son getting a new truck. I can sense his happiness from his face. Best of luck lad! Have a great time with this Million Mile Truck!

    What a great video, thank you for sharing. Aside from the suspension and wheels/tyres, the consoles you can get for this look great with a fridge for an armrest. Is that something you’d consider? They look great stock as a rock to me. If it was mine, I would put an Android, Apple carplay head unit in it. Seat covers and a lift kit. Stock shocks and springs are usually very soft, and a good suspension can really change the road manners of the vehicle. A secondary fuel filter catch can and a egr delete. That will stop the manifold from gunking up. Nice landcruiser, mate.

  • @NorthOz

    @NorthOz

    8 ай бұрын

    Good advice mate! Yeah, this head unit is atrocious haha. Might get a bit of use out of my old cd’s though! Not by choice 😂 The suspension is a bit soft but I don’t mind it at all. A lift and 33’s with a lower offset wheel would set it off. But all in good time 🤙

    One of the first things to consider,besides extra fuel filter and Provent catch can,is a sealed alternator .I have a Terrain Tamer aircooled one plus they also make a air box brace which stops the box bending and letting in dust past the filter.Both are not expensive compared to the price of your new rig.

  • @NorthOz

    I agree. I think it will appeal to some people. Cheaper running costs being one major benefit. But you’d be better off at that point in the lighter and cheaper hilux. I can’t see many private (non-business) buyers wanting a 4 cylinder Landcruiser. It will feel sluggish and fuel won’t be as good compared to the Prado, fortuner and Hilux vehicles that the 4 cylinder came out of

    Great video there Mark. I am so happy for you to be excited with your new dream car. The car you remind me of is a 1967 HR Holden special sedan. There is a song associating that car sung by Steely, Span - Please to see king 1971 - The Lark in the morning. Your Dad reminds me of a 1975 HJ Holden Statesman sedan. There is a song associating that car too, but I can't remember off the top of my head - songs called: Up on the roof. 1960s song. All the wonders of my Asperger's sense of humour. Stay safe out there guys. Take care. Enjoy your road trips in the future in this vehicle (Dream car) All the best, Mark. From, William. Mount Gambier, South Australia.

My other second current vehicle is: 1984 Nissan Urvan Diesel SD23 - Camper van - 5-Speed column shift manual - Nissan White 805P. 2021 - I have just recently had a reconditioned engine put in plus starter motor + brand new refurbished fuel pump putting as well - After i accidentally let my diesel ran bloody empty then in 2 hours later I couldn't start it again - One very expensive lesson learnt. How much do you think you've spent between the Prado, Hilux, and now a 79? You could have just kept the Prado or Hilux and gone to town on mods. Both would get you to most places off the beaten track, and are much more manageable as daily vehicles. Or are you able to claim loses on tax or something? V8 cruisers will hold their value though, that motor will end up being as iconic as 1hd-fte so there's that I guess... 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • @NorthOz

    To be honest, I just like cars. I like trying different vehicles seeing their strengths and weaknesses. The Toyotas don’t lose value so I havent lost much on trades over the Prado and the hilux. This was an opportunistic purchase too. After travelling, spending a lot of time remote and working on vehicles of all ages I believe this specific model was the best purchase for me. I have learnt a lot about each model of vehicle in a short space of time which I hope will help others make informed choices about their own choice of vehicle

  • @NorthOz

    @NorthOz

    Hi mate, I explain that a bit in my most recent video. Main reason was breaking the plastic over fenders constantly off-road and lack of ability to fit bigger tyres. Nothing against the rogue and I still highly rate it, but the rogue and gr are more for light off-roading and daily driving. I push the four wheels drives hard and I require something that can keep up

    Why downgrade from a Hilux to a 70 Series dual cab? The 70 Series is much slower, rather cramped, has zero noise insulation, not even a dust filter for the HVAC system, bad turning circle, track mismatch, poor articulation, woeful brakes, and worse fuel economy. But it does have a stronger closed boxed chassis rail and solid axles front and rear and the cool factor. Congrats on the new toy!

  • @NorthOz

    Thanks mate! I originally attempted to buy a 79 last year after the Prado but none were available. So I went with the hilux. This one popped up and traded it immediately. Less technology, more diy friendly aftermarket (the hilux was a nightmare to work on) and greater control in remote situations made it more appealing. The cape made me realise the 79 was for me

    A couple of WorkMate dual cabs turned up on the dealer near me, and I was sorely tempted! But I can't live with one as a daily, as its difficult to park in the inner city, especially without a reverse camera. Super loads of character but I have to be pragmatic. 79 series so over priced and ya pay extra for a tray 😂plus 60 grand + on it or more and the cars interior is old as f**k same interior and body from a decade ago just price goes up every year and the years 😂😂😂 I'll just stick with my 2023 rogue does the same what a overpriced landcruiser can do and comes with a tray and cool interior love your videos on the rogue though 👍🏾💯

    It’s all horses for courses. The 79 is built for a different purpose compared to the hilux. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on the differences between the 2 having spent a lot of time and doing big trips in the hilux. I’m keen to see how the 79 goes in the same environment. Can’t go wrong with Toyota regardless 👍
