I wonder how long that new player will last. I’ve finally taken a step back from the game. I can’t take the endless cycle anymore of not being able to afford the new decks and when I finally do get them I can only play them for like a month. For a game I don’t get to play very much as it is. And competing on a budget is miserable and near impossible.

Hopefully for a good while, he did have all the expensive cards but he was telling me about how he was going to stay with it for a good while, so fingers crossed he becomes a regular (:

I have been on Runick evil twin for a while and I got to 8 non engine, 9-10 post side. It’s a good deck and u don’t need sp, just typhoon maybe. In total a good build is around the 200 dollar mark and y can compete with it, u just need to put more effort and thought into the deck list to beat the meta but it’s completely doable. It just requires way more effort than just buying fire king but I find the experience amusing, it’s a challenge that rewards the effort, but u need that, a lot of effort and thought.

Playing a proper live twin list goes from 200 to a 250 mark and it’s completely viable and able to compete, u just need typhon but not sp. In order to compete with it u just need to put an insane amount of time, though and effort but I find it amusing and challenging and for me has way more merit than just playing the best deck and paying 1200 for it. Really rewards the effort by needing a way lower amount of money in exchange. But for me the despia strategy is perfect for that. On the 200 dollar price it will last for at least another year and it’s a fire beater so it gets u the more bang for ur buck, rewarding the better players

Dinomorphia is easily one of the best budget decks for locals right now. Last time I checked the entire core was less than $100 and you both don't care about and don't need S:P.

Earth Machine baby! I had got back into yugioh a couple months ago and bought a full power sinful spoils Rescue-ACE deck and I sold it because I didn’t understand how to play yet, it made no sense to buy the most expensive cards if I didn’t even know the basics. I have since had more fun with Earth Machines, Cyber Dragons, and Plunder Runick. I’m sure the new guy will find out eventually that it’s not always the meta decks that can win, sometimes it’s the pilot 😊 I have a lot to learn 😅

i mean in all fairness big welcome and arias are the expensive cards and you dont necessarily need rollback so if you ran like 2 big welcome and 1-2 arias you could just straight up play lab for a budget

Imagine a regular person looking to get into this game and seeing that 150 dollars is considered "budget" :kekw: Also, where's the Iblee lock? As much as I hate Iblee, your deck's gonna need it to compete this format. Not to mention you're already playing Unicorn, so its on brand. Iblee's stupidly cheap right now too, there's no reason not to if your goal is to win locals.

I have always been a budget player and even then i only ever played rogue to mid tier decks cause thats what i enjoy. But i decided to quit the paper game because i got fed up with konami's practises. It shouldnt be this hard for me to buy a freaking VALKYRIE DECK KONAMI!

I think $150 is way out of touch for a "budget deck", especially at the locals level. To me, budget deck is like $30-50.

@MainPhaze buying 3 structure decks is pretty wasteful if you dont have much money. Building around a structure deck or Legendary Duelist sets are an easy way to go about it, but buying singles is the way to do it. If you do, then usually you can easily 30 main deck cards for under $10. Then you use the rest of your $20-40 on handtraps/staples and the extra deck. Thankfully, Rarity Collection came out and really put a lot of staples in the reach of budget players. Whether or not your deck can realistically compete is really dependent on your locals scene.

I believe your lab opponent was extra deck locked or am I missing something?
