Once he began to barter for his life, he knew that the dude's focus wasn't entirely on the knife and the daughter, thus the grip of the knife on her throat loosened. Once he saw that, he took the shot, knowing he wouldn't drag the knife across her throat as he fell.

What I love about this film is how much Brian loved his daughter. It reminded me of how much my father loved me. Even as an adult he wanted to come over and set a carpet cleaner straight because he was stressing me out. I was over 30 and my dad wanted to protect me from a stupid carpet cleaner that was trying to upsell me on stuff I didn't need. Brian was prepared and did whatever it took to get his daughter back and that is what I love about this film. Brian just handled his business and didn't care about the corrupt and half corrupt people that were standing in his way. He just took them out and kept on towards the goal of getting his daughter. I love that. No silly discussions, just efficient steps to save the family.

Great reaction! Especially poignant to watch your reactions as young women that know this happens in real life. Interesting that Liam Neeson says he didn’t think the movie would be a big hit, in fact he thought it would be a low budget, straight-to-video movie. Loved your reactions to this. One of the best I've seen. I made a big mistake when this was released. I saw the trailer and was suspicious of allowing his daughter to be taken. What a stupid cretin I was. Two years later, I went to visit my dad in Florida, USA, and I saw it on his big tv in his home office and I could have kicked myself. Turned out to be one of the best thrillers I had seen in years. I ordered it on US blu ray as soon as I got home. Still have it. An amazing thriller. Sadly, also, this really does go on even now and it's sickening to know that. But he was able to save his daughter, that was the point. Like you said, one of the greatest fathers ever, despite not being there much to begin with. He more than made up for that. We don't always get great fathers.

I was ten when this movie came out. I don't remember well my first reaction to watching this. Growing up, my family watched a lot of movies, so as my parents started putting it on more, it became nothing more than another random action movie to me. It was just a dad beating up some guys to get his baby back. The REASON why he needed to get her back, what was happening to those girls, what happened to the daughter's FRIEND- it didn't affect me in the slightest. Watching you girls' genuine reaction to these scenes has put this movie into a new perspective for me. I always felt bad for the girls before, but watching it again now, my heart ACHES for them. Thank you for what you do, Homies. I appreciate you!

Such a sad movie, despite the success of father and daughter, because throughout there are young women losing their lives. You get drugged at a party, or a van just pulls up and scoops you in, and nobody ever sees you again. It happens to boys too. The only people I've known who got kidnapped were boys (1 recovered, 1 killed).

A great, heart wrenching movie based on reality, with a terrific heart warming ending. If only it could be true for more young women, second to drugs, human trafficking is the 2nd biggest grossing illegal business on the planet. It touches and destroys so many lives, directly and indirectly, and too too many of our young sisters, mothers and daughters fall prey to predators. Loved the reaction from all you women, the emotion y'all showed spoke volumes, and the look on your faces when he shot the wife was classic. The scene at the end when she said"you came for me" is a gut puncher that gets me every time,a tear jerker of a moment that just tugs at my poor heart every single time. She actually had a role in Australias most known tv serie/soap opera called Neighbours, where also Kylie Minogue and alot of famous actors/actresses,models and music artists comes from. I have had a crush on her for years and years, such a underrated actress and solo artist. She has a really small role in Taken, but i think the role is perfect for her as Sheerah. As the artist that gave "Liam" her own vocal coaches card, and then she ends up being the woman to embrace and comfort his daughter towards the end on top of it,like it was meant to be that they all met. I absolutely loved your reaction!! This is my favorite movie. Just… a father who does ANYTHING for his child hits me right in the feels. A little comment though. Cut some slack on Leonor (Bryan’s ex wife), you can’t blame her for not “worrying” too much. Bryan was the one who during his work experienced and saw the darkest side of the world, not her, considering he neglected Kim and her for years. That’s why Bryan left his job. People who hadn’t seen that kind of stuff always thinks or try not to think that will happen to them (a clear example is the pop artist character, she was all sarcastic and even not caring about her guards UNTIL something dangerous happened). It’s the same with Kim and Leonor. It’s like an explanation to her behavior before everything happens. I say this because I used to dislike her character, saying the same stuff as you, like she doesn’t know shit or “oh NOW you care about your daughter’s safety?” But c’mon, it’s the typical she just didn’t know until it was too late I fell in love with Liam’s parental character,” after this movie, it’s deep and pretty dark, the best combinations really. The kidnapping scene, the first time I watched it, was so heartbreaking, seeing Bryan’s face trying to keep it together but deep down he’s dying inside.
