Take The Right II Elizabeth of York

Stop this hate on Lizzie, she did what she had to do.
She protected her children, she even had a vision that showed her what it would have happened if the pretender would have been crowned (and we know from TWQ that she's gifted just like her mother).
She choose her children above her supposed brother but you can't really blame her for that. She had to save them.
If you are not shocked by what you will do for your children, if you are not appalled by how far you will go for those they drag out of you while you screamed, then you are not a woman worthy of the name.

She betrayed her family and she is too cruel to her brother. She thought Tudor is usurper and her brother the rightful king when she married. She swore to be "hidden and patient". And then what has she become?

He may say that they would be safe in exile but he’ll always be threatened by them and would kill them off or one of his supporters would. Because when the boys grow up, they’ll become men who know what they had and what was taken from them and another war would start again. She killed a maybe brother to protect her children. It cost a lot but it was worth it for her.

I don't know why people hate her Lizzy, honestly. She had no choice! Yes, she hated Henry at the beginning for what his side did to her family( which was terrible) but then she was forced to marry him and had his child. What was she expected to do? Just let Henry be killed? The father of her son? Plus if he had died, her son would have also become a threat to the new king! She and the child would never be safe either way. Look what happened with the York brothers. Even if she had married Richard, her mother would have wanted her own sons on the throne (which was rightfully theirs through Edward). I love Elizabeth Woodville, but she wanted her sons on the throne and that would have eventually put Lizzy in a conflicting position, with both her lovers. The fact that she was to be married to the conqueror was not her own choice, it was her mother's, so in a way Elizabeth W. could not just expect her to betray the father of her children and it was her who put Lizzy in that position. I love most of the main characters in these series, I love Edward, just as I also love Richard (which was misunderstood, somehow), and Henry too. They all have their flaws and that's what makes them so fascinating. I feel like we have to be a little bit more understanding of the women in this era though, we must remember that it was a world of man. I love Lizzy because even though her life was always difficult, she managed to unite the two houses, which would have otherwise remained at war all the time ( I didn't like Margaret Beaufort, but she was at least right that something needed to be done about the two houses). So Lizzy managed to do that and she was also a wonderful mother, that even her womanizer son admired and respected about her ( Henry VIII).

Agree, everyone says they betrayed their house (york). She had no choice, either her brother or her sons and husband had to die ... I know it seems immoral, but she chose the most logical solution. I think Elizabeth W. would have done the same thing ... my opinion.

***This is a fictional book.*** In reality she did not even like Richard III and greatly feared him. Some guy wrote years later that he had proof that she did in order to boost the York claim. But of course he lost it and only had his word. Richard III had one of Elizabeths brothers beheaded and two other placed in the tower for them to disappear and be assumed dead. Would anyone love someone like that? Individuals at that time described precisely how they killed the two-princes and that is exactly were they found the two skeletons of young boys in the tower. absolutely no body actually thought Perkins was really a York, they just needed him to take over from Henry VII.

ohoyohmrd, Richard III did NOT behead one of the princes. They are said to have been suffocated. It was Henry VII who ordered Perkin Warbeck’s death as he was a pretender to the throne. Elizabeth of York only had two brothers that survived; her other brothers were stillborn, or died shortly after birth

He would have had to live as a pauper. SHE could have supported him (the rightful heir....the heir who lost his crown through treachery) and lived a life of continued luxury as his sister. She offered him an escape, but with a price on his head should he ever try to claim anything. How many of us could just run off and try to make a life for ourselves with no name or lawful identity ? What could he have done ? He would have been declared dead, and she wanted him to promise that he would remain "dead". Was he to become a hobo ? SHE was selfishly clutching the throne and the big prize. She offered him only "non-death", not "life".

All of you who are making comments against Elizabeth, read the book FIRST. She did nothing like this video, in the BOOK. The show is inaccurate in sooooo many ways. Henry the VII did not take advice from his wife. She was crowned Queen, but had no say in ANYTHING. Literally. NOTHING. Henry's advisors were his mother and his uncle. Not Elizabeth. She certainly didn't encourage him to kill Perkin or her cousin. Elizabeth of York was a humble woman, a kind woman. She kept silent on the matter of the Boy and of anything that would cause Henry to be suspicious of her loyalty. She spoke neither for or against Perkin. She did not urge Henry to be ruthless. These shows misrepresent history so badly, I fear the reality of it will be lost forever. Shows like "Reign", The Tudors, White Queen, White Princess......they're all for drama. They don't represent the truth. Please do research before believing everything these shows tell you.

Lizzie was as power-hungry and as self-serving as any other Plantagenet. In this adaptation, she claimed that "all [she] ever wanted was to marry for love". She also suggested to her brother that he run away and live a happy life (in obscurity). She could have done that for her boys. They would have been nephews to the King...supposedly, a loving king, her brother. She could have had a pleasant life...rich, powerful [enough for most].... She chose instead to stand silent while the rightful king was shamefully executed (I believe that he was hung, not beheaded)....while her brother was murdered. So that...what ? She could remain as queen, and so that HER son could inherit the crown. Hardly a good person. I cannot understand why ANYONE would want to be so near the throne. Surely, simply being rich would be preferable (à la plan de Margaret Pole). I would have wanted to be a royal duchess, beloved of the rightful King and of his heirs. Had Richard been crowned, Elizabeth would have had a much better life. TheTudors were never secure on the throne.

@@weezie422 I agree that much is speculation..but the "lie" about Warbeck was supported by many contemporary powers. As uneducated observers from their future, WE certainly cannot "know" the truth. Accredited historians are unsure. P G selects a version, and expounds on it. She may well be correct....just as, obviously, she may be completely loopy. I always thought that the tale of Prince Richard's escape was nothing but wishful thinking , that he was taken from E Woodville quickly and completely against her will. Those that wished him ill would not have allowed her the time (or the opportunity) to find a suitable page (she was, supposedly, surrounded by Richard's guards). It's still a lovely story, and it is not impossible....just unlikely. (And, no....I don't think that Elvis is alive and working as a Walmart greeter in Albuquerque)

Nothing would force Henry to fight for the throne against the true heir. He could have capitulated...why not ? The same story which suggests that they were truly happy together at that point, paints Henry as miserable in his role.

There's no such thing as "the rightful king". Lizzie's father Edward iv took the crown by force from Henry vi, "the rightful king" and then had him killed. He also murdered Henry's son Edward, "the rightful heir". Henry vii, the true next in line then took the crown from Richard iii again by force making him the rightful king.
