I've been working with my kids this fall and winter to get them more comfortable with lead climbing. The Crux Climbing Gym always puts up some easier lead routes on the overhanging feature walls that are great for new leaders! Learning to lead on an overhanging route is safer because you fall away from the wall instead of down it. There aren't many easy, overhung, outside routes here, so being able to run laps in the gym on progressively harder routes, builds skill and confidence.
