--- ABOUT THIS SONG
In 1858, the first known baseball song was written, "The Base Ball Polka!" It was not quite as famous as Jack Norworth's 1908 classic, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game", which was written on some scrap paper on a train ride to Manhattan, New York. Norworth then provided those paper scrap lyrics to Albert Von Tilzer who composed the music which in turn was published by the York Music Company and before the year was over, a hit song was born.
-- LYRICS
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.

Yes, I sing a little differently than when I speak. In a nutshell, one speaks more by making most of the resonance in the mouth, whereas singing makes more use of the resonance chambers in the throat as well. You may also notice the larynx is lower when I sing than when I speak. I'm also a bit louder when I sing. :) Contrary to what Harold Hill says in The Music Man, singing is *not* sustained talking.

Could you sing thee entire song the next time?
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try and work on improving dynamics more. You're right, multitracking makes this process a bit more difficult, and more so because I had never heard this song before recording this video, all I had was the sheet music.
again, I just love listening to harmonies..just something about the human voice that it is capable of this
The incredible clarity of the voices make me think that ONE MAN Sing's different parties of the vocal. Is that so? I love it anyway!
Singing this song with all the crowd at the Old Yankee Stadium, some years ago, attending a Yankees' game is one of my favorite moments.
This is the only video I found with a short, clear version of of this song. Thank You
You sir, you are the king of harmony
This is a terrific song to play on bagpipes!!!
Thanks! If you come to France, I'm always happy to meet a new face. :)
Thanks! For some reason the video was marked private, I just fixed it. Cheers ;)
I'm sorry! It was somehow the fault of the KZread player. I heard a lot of cracking trough my laptop speakers, regular speakers and headphones. But it was gone after I slided the volume slider of the player back and forth... Weird. It's now crystal clear! Love your work!
Thanks for sharing the video if you like it! Your support is appreciated! ;)
Remembering the first song I heard you sing.
Smooth as hell
Thanks. Watch it again! ;)
I moved out 3 months ago, I don't live in Paris anymore. My last 6 videos were shot at my new place. :)
Thank you! Tell the world! :)
I didn't like this song before. Then I heard you sing it. Thank you.
Thanks, glad you enjoy my work. ;)
Thanks Mr Bassman !
Scrumptious, as ever. WISH you could hear the acapella version of this performed by the all-male chorus of Texas A&M University: as "Aggies" [I am one!] used to be the subject/object of many a joke, singers gleefully performed "Ball Game" by making one TINY change: "Take me" was hit on the SAME NOTE; EVERY remaining syllable was thus ONE NOTE REMOVED from its "proper" tone. When one sings "at the old ball game," the melody STILL has a note to go. MADDENING! And very clever.
The left side of my monitor felt privileged to have been sung to. :D
Good for you! Congradulations! HOME RUN!!!!!!!!!
C'est sympa de voir une de tes vidéos après une journée complètement nulle, ça redonne le sourire. :)
AWESOMENESS I'm singing this song in my barbershop quartet
I'm most comfortable singing between G2 and F4, which is usually bass / baritone range, yes. I've sung lead in collabs too (With A Little Help From My Friends, Somebody Loves Me, Hello My Baby, etc.) and baritone (How Deep Is Your Love), so I don't have a strong preference for any voicing in particular. :)
No worries. It's interesting that you're not the first person to tell me that the audio in this particular video seems to mess up the KZread player. I really wonder where this is just a coincidence.
You can easily picture a little boy from the beginning of the century singing this to his dad :-) Old tunes never fail: sure success and perfect for your lovely voice. Keep making good choices and email me some news when you have the time, ages since we last spoke! :-)
LUV this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm flattered and delighted you enjoy my work. Sure, I'll drop by your channel later today. :)
awesome song! you made this Yankee fanatic very happy
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the little show! ;)
I can imagine the Scout from TF2 watching this video and going "Way ta go, slugger!" Great job Julien! :D
Thanks Peter. :)
Let the game begin!
Thanks!
We're over here Julien!!
You mean clipping, I suppose. Yeah, it happened on my baritone track on 2 notes, I was much louder than I expected and the audio clipped. Despite that technical problem, I liked that take more than all the others I made, so I kept it. :)
All my ringtones and text tones are excerpts of your songs... Please don't ever stop what your doing... Thank you...
Haha, thank you. Looking forward to making new ones. But have other priorities at the moment. :)
Merci Emma ! ;)
Wow very nice. You keep getting richer and richer in all of your voice parts. I really like your newer sound. Even your side view profile video looks emotional and into it.
I'm a research statistician in real life, but music is starting to take more and more space indeed. It doesn't pay bills because people don't buy the songs enough (yet), but I'm hoping this will change. A Cappella isn't mainstream music, and I'm doing everything on my own from home with pretty basic equipment (home computer, $100 microphone and a digital camera), so it's hard to compete. People have very high standards nowadays and prefer pop music to actual singing unfortunately.
Glad you enjoy these old tunes too. ;)
simply fantastic
Thanks! Do share my video with friends and help me spread the word. :)
@Trudbol Love this video so much! Thanks a lot for doing this song!
Thanks! Bass and Lead are in the center because they are the most important voices in the barbershop style. The Baritone and Tenor fit in the harmony but are typically less audible. Baritone & Lead tracks often cross, contrary to Bass & Lead, so this also makes it easier for the listener to follow the melody line when the Baritone is pushed to the side. There may be other reasons I don't know of (maybe the Baritone part is easier to sing with only a Bass rather than a Bass *and* a Lead). :)
like all your tracks, incredible vocals and highly entertaining.
Woohoo!
Thanks, my friend! ;)
As always, this is awesome! Thanks for entertaining us Julien! Can't wait to see what's next!
Excellent.
Thanks buddy! :)
Beautiful harmony. Love it.
It would have been fun, but 4 days to do the whole thing is a bit short notice unfortunately. Feel free to suggest some good ideas like this again though (just a little sooner if possible). Cheers :)
Wonderful! I loved the harmonizing. Fantastic!!!
Your multitracks have all really great resonance. I'm very amazed every time i listen to you!
Haha, thanks my friend! ;)
brilliant as always! I always love your musical choices!
Thanks! :)
i was looking forward to the next 'twist' verse!
Awesome!
Beautiful
brilliant as always :)
Well done!
Thank you! ;)
There is good day when Trudbol uploads video :)
Genius!
fantastic
that was so cool and old school accapella
OMG I was going thru some of your stuff just a couple days ago (my favorites, Coney Island Baby, Aux Champs Elysées, among others) and was thinking about some new songs for you, and I swear, I thought to myself "Take me out to the Ball Game", Trudbol would no doubt sing the HELL outta that, and voilà! I hope you realize how much entertainment you give us mortals; I know WAY more work than we could ever fathom goes into the finished product, so, really Trudbol, thank you thank you thank you!!
Thanks. Please consider purchasing my music, copying my songs from KZread doesn't support my work. I have a full album available (link in the video description). :)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! :)
Another great piece. Thumbed-up & Facebooked.
Yes, it's falsetto. Most of the tenor notes are above high E4, so it's easy to sing falsetto all across.
this is so EPIC! Your covers are so good!
Je suis aux USA la, hier je suis allé voir twins orioles, 7° manche tout le monde se lève et commence a chanter take me out to the ball game, j'ai direct pensé à toi et au moins, je la connaissai déjà :-)
Great one as always :)
Thanks! I try and publish a video every 10 days, so perhaps you missed my previous ones (Hello Mary Lou, Dr Mario, I Got Rhythm, etc.)?
You consistently impress me! Even with such a mundane song, like this, you turn it into a masterpiece. Well done!
Loved the bass part in this one! Very resonant. Keep up your AMAZING work here.
Excellent as usual ^__^
Whenever you release a new video, I get more excited than I should, I think haha. Always something to look forward to!
Yes, they are Sennheisers. I think it's the HD 428 model.
Thanks buddy. ;)
Omg I need someone like you!!!!
Thanks! Share it! ;)
Merci ! ;)
Thanks for the explanation. Another user (@timbock2) replied, saying that he didn't have any issues when listening to the video on good speakers. Since I got my current computer (a Late '07 MacBook Pro), I've noticed that the sound is a bit flat (virtually no bass, decent treble, but no real richness to the sound) so I wouldn't be surprised if the speakers have other issues as well.
Der Umfang der Arbeit hängt von der Schwierigkeit Song, die Menge des für die Bearbeitung von Video, etc. Dieser dauerte 6 Stunden insgesamt. "Blackbird" dreimal so viel erforderlich.
Thanks! Share my video in the meantime if you can! ;)
I've only been recognized twice in 3 years you know. Fortunately, one of them was with my Mom. :)
In the "Hello Mary Lou", I believed Sonny knew Mary Lou. He internalized the words and it was reflected in his singing. That is the direction I am talking about. I want you to be singing this song at a stadium with 60,000 people and you are energizing the crowd. By the time you get to "1..2..3 strikes your out" the crowd is cheering and you are right with them. These are my thoughts. You are the one doing. My two favorites are the "Champs-Elysees" and clean the house videos. I believed them.
Amazing! Replay, replay, replay, replay! :D
Nice !
Good stuff like always man. As long as you keep making these amazing videos I'll keep watching and showing everyone I can :)
I LOVE BEISBALL
Thanks Bea. :) The story is a little different: a guy named Joe asks a girl named Nelly Kelly out, ans since she's a big baseball fan, she tells him she wants him to take her to a baseball game.
I'm having a older boys weekend at my farm and we're going to do a baseball game and I have a real wooden baseball bat, before we start the game I'm going to play this song and your version of the Star-Spangled Banner before the game starts.
