Take a Giant Stride! (Boat Diving Etiquette)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Take a Giant Stride! (Boat Diving Etiquette). If you are like many divers, you learned to dive by diving from shore and maybe have never been on a dive boat. If so, we made this episode just for you! Lyell will walk you through some of the details, specifics and peculiarities of diving from a dive boat. Join him as he joins the crew, Captain Harner & Instructor Chris, from the dive boat Scuba Dos, owned by St. Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventures (SCUBA). They will explore two awesome dives sites on the west side of St. Croix, USVI and show you how it is done!
We want to thank the crew of Scuba Dos for the exceptional patience to help us make this video and for showing us a great time whilst boat diving!

The creatures that make those little sand dunes are Ghost Crabs. they are tunnels the crabs have dug for protection.

Boat diving is like everything else, just have to dive more and more. Let the shop know you want to start off slow 30 ft or so and do a few dives until you get used to it. Then go for 60 ft. Dont assume because you did a bunch of dives last year off one boat you can just go on another boat. LISTEN TO THE CREW!!!!

Three things about boat diving. Don't let ego cause trouble. If it is your first boat dive, let the crew know. Everyone has had a first boat dive. You will enjoy it more if you let the crew know, "hey guys I never did this before". Take your sea sick medication the night before, and the morning of your dive, at least an hour before the dive. When getting back on the boat do not crowd the ladder, stay out from behind another diver on the ladder, if they fall or are washed off the ladder, you will take their tank, to your face. OUCH!

Before untying boat; make sure they have your shoe/fin size (if you're renting not owning one) as a bigger or smaller size are both exhausting for legs and their foot-part edges may cause blisters from friction. Same for a shorty's size (in case you're renting). Plus, bring at least 2 swimwear (to switch between) as they dry Very slow in cabins (especially in underground ones due to lack of natural sunlight / heat / air-flow) Finally, sink water is relatively limited on board so don't waste it; by turning it off (or decrease flow rate) between shower steps (e.g. while applying shampoo / body wash / face scrub).

Don’t forget to tip your crew. Current standard near me is $10 per tank
