I ran Sea Vee , Concept, Contender, midnight, zodiac, scarabs, Donzi, world cat, Sea Cat, Brunswick, and one other for 29 years. Seeing that boat brings great memories

I know those boats well. One thing I would do is add designated docking lines 3/8” or 1/2 “ for the mid ship cleats. Secure them to the T top frame for quick access. Most of my short term docking, I only used that one line. It’s great when loading and unloading gear and people, pulling to fuel docks and restaurants and pulling up to other boats. That way nobody is in the way when the boat operator is ready to release the line. You don’t have to step over people and gear to release bow and stern lines

My friends want me to use my boat and take them on some upcoming dives to which I will be sitting out. What are some details that I need to know WRT driving a dive boat. I know I need a dive flag, O2, sat phone, but should I be expected to drive the boat to an emergency ascent driver, what happens if multiple divers surface in different locations to check on their buddy, seems like a potential to hit them. I feel like I want to anchor and not move until they are all surfaced. what do I need to know before I agree to this.

What kind of boats can you recommend with a capacity of 14 - 16 people including divers, guides, boat captain etc?

Really big ones :) you might want to check into buying a dive operator's boat as a private boat for yourself or try Newton Boats www.newtonboats.com

What is your advice for a couple wanting to dive together but do not always have a a third person available to stay on board while they are diving? There are obvious risks involved if the boat is anchored but unmanned.

Hello...two things too recommend. First is there are plenty of dive clubs in the South Florida area you both could join to make new dive buddies and that way you can do 2 up 2 down. The second suggestion is to hire a captain, contact one of our stores, we have names of captains who do just this. Cheers :)

@@ForceEDivers Thanks. We're not in the USA. I was just looking for advice on the subject. Thanks for the input though.

In three decades of diving from my own boats, I have never had a problem leaving the boat unattended. I use all chain and a Bruce type anchor. The first thing I do when I reach the bottom is to check the location of the anchor. We don't dive in current from our boat, and we dive early in the morning before the wind comes up. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pnmIq8-ehNiph8Y.html
