My ikigai is to live alone in Japan (to experience it until I can bare it, maybe it'll motivate me to live longer or not idk) and die young when I come back home to Canada. I work to take care of elderly, and although the pay is good, I don't want to hit 90 and be helpless. I can't imagine to watch my mom gone too so I want to go first, lol so for now, I'm working on saving enough and live there someday! my fam and I will be going to takayama in january 2024 :) nice vlog

Pretty good introduction to Takayama. I would suggest that you take longer shots, linger more over important features, and provide more context. For instance, you mention the Nakasendo, but to add context you might add, "This is the road that connected the old capital of Kyoto with the new capital of Edo/Tokyo, and the Tokugawa shogunate made the regional chieftains spend half the year in Edo. Unauthorized. movement was punishable by death."

Wouldn't call it a hidden gem. Most Western guidebooks will suggest a stopover in Takayama between the famous Tokyo Kyoto golden route. Most people tend to skip it though. But it's definitely worth a visit.

Hi, it’s JR Hida, takes around 2.30hr from Nagoya - very beautiful scenery along the ride!
