Tail injury in a Cat
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
This poor feral kitty was running around with a dried up tail and bones showing .
It's called a degloving injury. When a cat tries to run out a closing door or screen, the long tail sometimes does not make it .

We had a cat who had a degloved tail. She had a very expressive stump, you could tell just how ticked off at you she was.

Oh! The pain it must've been in! I knew what a degloving injury was and I still screamed out loud at your demonstration. You are a good person to help that poor, feral cat.

You are wonderful! Have a wonderful holiday season!
Wished you was my Vet. Thanks Sir
I have a Seallynx Bengal. His tail ended up getting a dislocation and after several weeks it didn't go back on it's on I just gave it a quick tug not hard but firm. Now I will say because to this day I feel like I might have done it. But when he came in the bathroom I played helicopter with his tail. He never got mad or acted like it hurt him. His tail was over 13 inches long. I do remember closing his tail in a door. And truthfully it could have been done by my son's girlfriend at the time. What happens is I noticed a lump in his tail about where the dislocation was and where I had played helicopter. When it didn't go away I had our vet, who was very old and before he retired used a dirty needle on one of my precious bengals and almost gave that same cat 2 of the same shot. We had to stop him. In his defense his health was failing fast. Anyway after he tired to draw out blood and nothing happened until Skye jerked his tail pooping off the syringe needle still in tail then blood flew everywhere. He said just leave it alone. Well he was selling the business and a great young couple bought it. I took him to the because it got bigger and bigger while I waited the couple,of months for them to take over to the point Skye could barely lift his tail. The managed to get some cells out and he had cancer and had his tail removed and she even went several vertebrae up to be sure she got all the cancer. So my question to you is did I do this playing helicopter with his tail. Or was it due to the trauma and my relocating his tail. Or just happened. I am not even sure the lump was in the same place as the dislocation. He is happy and healthy and has really toned down being head honcho but he picked on all the others (females) all spayed by 12 weeks. Now when he is looking for warmth and cuddles the don't want him near and at over 10 lbs he gets heavy laying on my chest. I might add I am the mommy to the cats and the only one that can do anything with them or play anyway with them including his helicopter. I have a suspicion my oldest son's girlfriend at the time might have hurt him as she hated him and he knew,it too. PLEASE HELP ME RELIEVE MY MIND THAT I DIDNT CAUSE HIM CANCER PLAYING HELICOPTER. IMHAVE NEVER DONE THAT TO ANOTHER CAT SINCE. AND I HAVE ANOTHER SEALLYNX BENGAL AND SHE HAS A VERY LONG TAIL. I call her my Cheetah Bengal because she plays more like a wilder cat.
Oh man this brings back memory's of my old cat bone. I named him that after some dog. Bit the tip of his tall off.
The moment I say the cats tail my heart started racing
Mitten kitties
Poor kittys😭 but good job for helping them
I had one of my friends text me about this and I'm learning to be a vet tech and I looked up a tails cat off because I didn't know it could happen but I'm glad I watched this informative video but I did tell her to tell take it to the vet and I'm glad I did
Awwww....poor kitty!!!! I hope it feels better soon. OMG!!!! That poor baby looks like it was in a lot of pain. I'm so sorry it lost its tail. Is it necessary for a cat to have its tail and why?
Ugh poor kitty
The Orange kitty at the beginning is such a good actor.
My cat had her tail cut off on a glider rocking chair. She was so mad. But she is ok now and still has a longish tail they only had to take a inch off so it’s only a half a tail.
We found a kitten and she has this same injury and shes had it for a while now but we dont know how much it would be to fix it at the vet.
Guys look in Instagram a boy who smashed his cat tail on purpose

XxMushiSushixX-Fortnite why is this relatable
The cat is cute.
I SEARCHED UP " People cutting Cattails" (THE PLANT) AND SHOWED THIS WHAT THE HELL
we accidentally broke Pete's tail once it was a small fracture and we treated the abscess. same way suck in a door
One of my cats got his tail broken - the space between the 3rd ad 4th vertebrae after the tail-head was bigger then a vertebrae... Had to be amputated... Poor guy is better now and all his urinary problems have subsided too (at first he could not pee and I had to express him, and after a while he peed involuntarily when washing his butt). As for a polydactyl kitten... I wonder if this could evolve into an opposable thumb... in few (hundred) generations :) (yes, I dream about uplifted cats ;) )

How soon did you amputate the tail? and how long was he not able to pee on his own?
@andrzej2501

@@joselynpalmas2414 The same day I noticed it. I can't say how soon after the injury I noticed it since he is a very free-spirited cat and spends a lot of time outside in the summer and is black so is not that clearly visible at night but I would say about a day and half. It was so long ago I don't recall precisely but I would say about a week. Then for about the same amount of time he was sometimes peeing involuntarily. All the swelling had to go down.
You rescued a cat aww cute
I once had a cat he was attack by a dog. He wasn't injured to bad only he was missing the tip.of his tall.
Poor Kitty...
The poor cats prob ready to beat the sheet outta him
I have a ferel cat aswell she got hit by something like 3-6 months ago and she couldn't move her tail some of the tail fell of and the rest isn't moving
Oh no! 😢 poor kitty. That is horrible
Do the cat become paralysed while tail wounds?my dog too got her tail as same she is paralysed
Tail docking for cat

😭😭😭
I have a kitten with a tail almost as long as her body.
My cat is always jumping around and know she’s walking very slow and if I pick her up she meos and she is 7 months ?? Yaw know
Literally right now 3 dogs attacked my cat the got the skin off her tail what should I do?
Poor cat
Oh my God the poor girl no I hope it doesn’t pass away I really really like cats and dogs and I don’t really like seeing that so
why hold it by the door we all know what a door and a cat look like together
Aww thats hoy to hurt to the cat
We have a cat that has 23 toes.
My cat was born with her tail broken in 2 spots making it look like a pig tail so I named her piggy. She was one of 7 kittens in one litter so it wasn’t from an injury.. I think it was cramped in the womb
you are such a cool person.
If I don’t cut the tail what can it happen?

Loredana Dumitru I'm no expert but i could imagine infections or some uncomfortable / painful mutations where the damage happened.
Basically the only option is removing the tail?
Happened to a dog i knew
Lmao

Did u neuter the cat before letting it go? also polydactle cats are the result of being inbred
@PinkAndTheKeytarCat
7 жыл бұрын
It's actually not caused by being inbred! It's just a genetic trait that some cats have and some cats don't. It's usually inherited, but can be caused by several different genetic mutations that make the multiple feet. You don't often see it in quality show cats (who are all somewhat inbred, in order to keep their breeds pure) because it's not a desirable trait and so it gets bred out. Breeding some kinds (often radial hypoplasia) of polydactyl cats to other polydactyl cats makes offspring that can't walk well. This is why cities with extreme feral cat populations, where the cats /are/ inbred, don't have huge numbers of polydactyl cats; inbred polydactyl kittens don't survive long enough to reproduce. (to oversimplify the issue, anyway)
